(Q) Very quick and easy question about the note 3 - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey All,
I would like to pick up the Note 3 N9005 LTE this week and before I do I have 3 quick questions
1) Is the bootloader locked?
2) Can it be rooted without any issue? KNOX status issues when downgrading ?
3) Is there any word on the Note 3 Active?
Thanks

3 dont know
knox is a pain in the ass

Ok, so I got the Note 3 now, before I root and do anything to it, I need to know what will trigger that stupid KNOX counter?
Rooting = NO
Custom recovery = ?
Downgrading ROM = ?
Custom Kernel = ?
What else will trip the counter?

Custom Kernel = YES (To flash Kernel you need a custom recovery)
What else will trip the counter? Flashing official stock ROM lower version than current, flashing different AP/CSC combos, using Root de la Vega method on MJ3 firmware, using a specific tar file to force your N9005 out of download mode (stated on de la Vega)

basically anything that I do will trip the KNOX counter, I have a S4 and that's already tripped, got the Note 3 yesterday for a work phone and to be honest I don't really care if I void the warranty.,, So can anyone suggest a good ROM to flash, and is it possible to get 3minit working on the Note 3?

as you properly know tripping knox will void warranty if like me and dont care go for it there are some good roms and mods for the n3
Yeah, I've rooted my Note 3, and got rid of some bloat. I don't want to lose SPEN by flashing a non compatible ROM, so what else can I do to make my device better?

[Q] About a SG Note3 - Knox, Rooting and ROM

Hi !
I just bought a SG Note 3 (SM-N9005 // XXUDMJ7) and i need some information. I read a lot of topic and i'm lost...
I haven't install Knox (well the Knox APK is on my phone but still asking me to install) do i have to worry about it and the 0x1 ?
Is there a way to root, install a recovery and a new rom without avoid warranty once and for all ?
Thank you so much for any answer
you can root using the Root De La Vega( go to that thread & see if you meet the requirements) but as for custom rom....its an enormous hassle without the recovery...there is a way i think...using scripts in Android Development section... but in the end...your choice really

Worry about 0x1; yes.
Root; Yes. / Recovery; Yes / Rom; Yes | Without tripping Knox?; No.
You're SOL at this point if you want to keep 0x0.

[Q] can use knox after tripping knox ?

Hello everyone. ive been searching these forums for quite a while and can safely conclude that theres no way for me (ATM) to root my note 3 without tripping knox.
i have a N9005 running the NC2 firmware, on 4.4.2
now i want to know is, if i flash a custom recovery and firmware ONLY, without flashing a custom ROM, can i still use KNOX (the app) ?
all i really want is root access, im quite happy with the ROM and performance ATM.
very sorry if this has been asked already, i couldnt find anything about it
thanks everyone

Any attempt to modify/temper the phone should render the Knox invalid thus Knox 0x1 as a flag that no Knox security warranty can be established on such devices.
Rooting is considered an attempt to modify the system.
So simple answer is No....
You root you can't use Knox app...

Got confused about Note 3 and Knox current situation

So guys, i got a little bit confused about knox 0x0 - 0x1 - root - custom roms etc.
I own a note 3, when it was with kitkat i've installed twrp through odin and got "knox 0x1 (1)" then i went with official lollipop firmware, and now i've reflashed twrp for installing cm12.1 getting knox 0x1 (2). From what i understand, there is no way to revert knox to 0x0, isn't it?
If i had a brand new note 3 with lollipop and knox 0x0 could I install custom roms without tripping it? or even get root permissions on the stock rom?
what also keep me confused is: why there are so many alert in the note 3 section on xda about tripping knox while in the s5/s6/note4 sections everything seems to be much easier? can you please explain me?
PS: execuse me if i've had not been so clear but english is not my first language
Nope, the device's virginity is lost, that baby is done, unless you have the Exynos version, where KNOX status could be reset
Thanks for answering. So i got a friend that would like to install the cm12.1 on his knox 0x0 N9005. will he trip it?
Not much idea mate. But I think there is a possibility that he might not trip it, at least I have seen something like that. Obviously the standard method of flashing a ROM via Odin or or from custom recovery will trip it, but I think there's a way to avoid that, not the usual way of course. You might ask to those who have already done it, or in the CM topic itself, if there is one.

Need help in rooting Note 3 (N900)

Hey there,
My Dad just gave me his almost a year old Note 3 .I have seen various ways of rooting the Int. version of the Note 3 (N900) but all of them Trip this God damn Knox. Are there any possible ways of rooting my phone without tripping Knox ? And should I refrain from rooting with CF-Auto root as my Warranty finishes on 4th May
If your phone is running 4.3 or newer rom, I know of no way to root without tripping Knox.

Note 3 came with 4.4 out of the box and I updated it to 5.0
I don't think there is a way to root without tripping Knox.
Personally, I would wait until the warranty period is over.
