I have twrp 2.6.3 and it isnt allowing me to flash any files. I was wondering if you can install and older version through goo manager or what exactly would be my easiest way about getting 2.5.0.2 twrp

Maybe bad download? Idk that's how I did it, it was months ago though. Maybe you can't with the latest, not sure.

The md5s all check out tho so it shouldn't be bad downloads. It seemed to back up and restore fine but I couldn't flash sacs rom and couldn't flash a different recovery. In a sense can I re-download twrp by flashing another kernel with mobile Odin then using Goo manager to reinstall twrp?

Just got my s4 and was wondering if I can just root it and install a custom tw based kernel on the stock rom?
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
Yes you can root it, use cf-autoroot and then install a custom recovery so you can install the kernel you want to use.

Ok thats what i was gonna do but i didnt know if it was good to use a custom kernel on the stock rom
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
Yes custom is better in most cases as far as customizing.

For you to get the new update, you atleast need to be on stock rooted with no mods whats so ever and have stock recovery. And you can get update but if you have custom recovery its aborts it
Ok thanks i just got my s4 like 2 days ago lol i love it its so much better than the s3

Tried with tarp and cwm I also tried 2 different gapps. In twrp it just says failed in red. Any advice
It sounds like you can't get into recovery, twrp. You're probably going to have to odin the stock firmware. Did you check the md5 of the rom file you downloaded? I'm guessing it was a bad download.
Thanks I have a new issue now

I just wanted to know how do I flash a kernel? I'm on an aosp ROM and wanted to flash a kernel before I applied an update to the ROM. Thanks!

If you don't know how to flash a kernel I don't know how you were able to install a ROM as its nearly the same process.

Yea you just flash it in recovery then typically wipe Cache/Dalvic afterwards. However if you're flashing a ROM update you're going to want to flash the kernel after that since ROMs contain their own kernel that would just wipe out the one you flashed prior.

Hi,
Is it possible to use the stock recovery to Flash zips? Alternatively will using the app Flashify to Flash the zips cause any issues? This is for a D802 on 4.4.2.
Thanks
Sean

From what I remember, the stock recovery doesn't have that function.

Ditto
Stock only flashes signed zips. Like official ota and such.
Flashify to flash, well all depends what it is. U can flash recoveries safely but not stuff that is in operation. Some, maybe like sound mods that require reboot.
I have the flashable through recovery version of stock kit Kat. Since I did not use a LG tool to flash it, can I still flash another non stock kit Kat Rom or do I have to downgrade. I still have twrp so I'm guessing I should Be ok, just worried about partitions.

Do you have custom recovery? Then yes. Are you referring to ROM's like CloudyFlex, etc?
Ya twrp, went to install Mahdi Rom for d801 and got horrible reception and no data, so was curious if it's a kitkat doing it.

You flashed this radio right? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705509
Also, if you wish to use stock KK ROM's just wipe and flash away.
Yeah I flashed that and than tried a T-Mobile only modem, no auto rotate either so that might be the problem
