Can anybody who has flashed both of this rom's tell me what is the best one? I'm leaning toward the T-Mobile version because it has 0 carrier bloatware and i think it will be the first one with the updates. I currently have a Moto X with an unlocked boot loader and can flash any of this two firmwares.
Thank you for your input.
Well I would think the firmware you have now will get the updates before the other two

You can also consider Rogers firmware, they are unlikely to get the updates first but they have no bloat. Not sure exactly sure how tethering is handled but its enabled for certain on my phone(likely sim related as well though) I have tested usb, wifi and BT tethering, they all work great.
I cannot think of any reason to choose ATT over T-Mobile. All it adds is bloat.

Ok so I'm with att and the past phones I've had (with exception of the htc one x for a few weeks) were samsung galaxy line...I'm really looking into getting this phone, but I'm curious just how strict att will be with it.... I read this article here http://htcsource.com/2013/02/htc-ge...source=dlvr.it&utm_medium=twitter#prettyPhoto and it concerns me a bit....I mean if att will block users from doing simple things on this phone like this, will they block important things like unlocking the bootloader etc? I've never seen att be like that with any samsung phones I've had....if I get this phone I want to be able to customize it how I want if I choose not to use a custom rom and go stock....its been awhile since I've had an htc phone with att are they that strict? Thanks guys

I'm also using AT&T and this is also quite concerning. It seems like they are extremely strict. I don't understand why they would block such a service? its not like it hurts them in anyway. What a stab in the back AT&T
How I hate these carriers and their stupid ****ing decisions.
If you're concerned about unlocking the bootloader, I wouldn't be. I'm sure if AT&T blocks HTC from allowing it to be unlocked through their website, someone will crack it here.
if i were you, do not purchase the att version. Bootloader will be unlocked etc. Unless the S-OFF by jcare and beaups will work, then go ahead.
But software updates will take 2-3 months after the international version gets it first. You wont get FM radio, and less bloatware.
But on the upside you will get LTE.

Yea and don't forget that all the devices will be the same so you should be all good!
Exactly, root it and give at&t the middle finger

looks like that im done with stupid at&t, they have been shoving me with high bills down my throat every month
and now this??
Yeah I thought about buying the unlocked version...cheapest I saw was 656.00 on handtech....but I'm one of those people who change phones so often that might not be the best for me to invest that much....speaking of the fm radio....don't all the models including the us versions have them? I know the us versions block the radio but I remember on the the att onex I had someone found a way to unlock the radio and I was able to use it on mine with the unlock trick....also as u said I can still lte on either one I decide correct?

I'll be getting mine on AT&T. I bet this issue will be overcome easily with root. I will likely get mine in store on release day, and the pimary reason I will go with the AT&T version (easy in store purchase/exchange/etc).
I've got no choice. The only other option is Veri$ion and they won't get another dime of my money. They F'd me over twice at the end of contracts and hit me with massive roaming bills. 2nd time I didn't pay and had it removed from my credit after 7yrs. At$t is the only provider that has good coverage.
We'll get root and all will be good.
I've had similar concerns, but I think we'll see strong dev support for the One and having only one hardware variant (from a processor perspective) will help as well. It should make it easier for devs to support their roms across all the different carriers.
I would not pre-order anything from ATT -- not before seeing where and how big they make their tramp-stamp. Same for Verizon.
Verizon isn't getting the One.

Why on earth would a carrier block the ability to use FM radio? How is that advantageous to anybody?

I may be wrong, but I don't think anyone has manged to manipulate the LTE radio bands like that yet. In fact, I haven't seen an unlocked one with LTE radios so far either. It would be great if it could be done thought. That'd give AT&T, T-Mobile, and the rest a headache and us a way to work around them!
Since the GS4 hardware is so similar between carriers, would it be safe to assume a ROM developed for a T-Mobile GS4 will work on an AT&T GS4 or vice versa?
I could see this being very convenient for AOSP ROM development.
I'd imagine not, to an extent. It all depends on what differences, if any, exist between the hardware offered by different carriers

That's also my question, I mean here in Mexico we have i337 model, carrier Telcel.
So imo should be indexed as 19500 and 19505 then carrier or global sub divisions.
Any one's a clue yet?

Probably not directly, I'm sure there will have to be some small changes if one were to say, port an att rom to a Sprint model. But it should be minimal work for devs to port because they're so similar

My major cause for concern is whether or not it's possible to debrand an AT&T SGS4 so that I can accept Samsung updates, especially major updates in the future. I'm very disappointed that the i9500, and i9505 doesn't seem to support AT&T's 4G bands... otherwise I would get an i9500/i9505. I'm hesitant to get an AT&T version due to the absolutely horrendous software update windows, whereƤs carrier phones receive updates months after the international versions...
Hello -
I'm considering getting a Galaxy S4. I heard and read elsewhere that there are some issues with rooting on the AT&T device (no good recovery procedures, etc.)? This will be my first android device, but I'm fairly technical (and a developer) - I used to be more active on these forums in the windows mobile days. Here are some details regarding what I'm looking for:
Ability to remove all the bloatware from the device, and run a fairly stock Android version, retaining my ability to customize
Ability to use all frequencies on AT&T, including 4G (and not just on one band)
Stability
Would like a ROM that has USB audio support - I have several USB DACs and when I am done using this as a primary phone, I'd like to try using it as a dedicated media player / 4G hotstpot in my car.
Large infrastructure for device compatibilty and accessories
Decent camera/camera software
Good navigation software that works even where data connections are spotty
Choice of colors (probably want a grey/black device - I do not like the white S4)
Expandable memory (or 64GB onboard)
Replaceable / expandable battery support - this one is a nice to have, not a must
It looked like the Google Play edition had all the same bands/antennas as the AT&T version, but I'm not sure. Deal breaker there is the 16GB and white only options. Which version of this phone should I get, assuming this is even the right phone for me? Will the Note 3 be better?

If you want a GS4 that works on AT&T, and you want LTE, you have two realistic choices:
1. The SGH-I337 AT&T carrier-branded variant. The pros are that you can get it in 32GB and you have color options. You also get a ton of software features that are built into Touchwiz, including the amazing camera app. The cons are that the most recent firmware has a bootloader that's locked down tighter than a crab's ass. You can root it, but custom recoveries and ROMs are off the table.
2. The GT-I9505G Google Play Edition. The pros are that it's got an unlockable bootloader, it gets Android updates very quickly, and it's not full of carrier and Samsung junk. You can root or flash custom recoveries, kernels, or ROMs very easily a-la Nexus devices. The cons are that it's 16 GB and it only comes in white. Also, you lack some of the cool software features that Touchwiz provides because the phone runs stock Android.
If you want a GS4 that runs on AT&T but don't care about LTE, you can also buy an unlocked GT-I9500 or GT-I9505 from Europe. With either of those devices, you'll get HSPA+ on AT&T, but no LTE.

I was thinking that I could just take the microsim from my ATT Note II, stick it in an LTE Note 8, and use it as a giant phone. Sure glad I read about this on XDA first. I do see that there is work on trying to make this happen, but there does not appear to be any success yet. Does anyone think that this will ever happen? Are there any 7" or greater tablets that can take an ATT microsim and be used as a phone?

Even though we dont have an unlocked bootloader at the momentfor roms, theres unlocked sim and root. I needed the lte/ 4g because i wanted to download big files on the note and google maps im sure soon att will release the files, or someone awesome at xda to unlock it.
I believe that every tablet Samsung has ever made comes in a version capable of making phone calls. US carriers force Samsung to disable the feature, so if you want one, you'll have to buy an international version. There is also the Asus Fonepad, which is similar to the old Nexus 7.

I wish I could believe this, but every day that goes by makes me think that we may never see anything. I'm just hoping for an official 4.3 or 4.4 from AT&T.
For my US and Canadian Friends - Do you guys think it's still worth buying the International F and FD models with no warranties in the US and Canada, and possible band incompatibility, now that the Sprint and ATT (T-Mobile coming up shortly) variants have Root via the EngBoot? Or you guys think that method will be patched soon enough and the future of Development and Root for the US and CA variants will be 0 to none like the S7 and S7E models?
Thanks for your input!
Root was the big reason for me, second is the updates. Don't know if international will get updates quicker or not because it doesn't have to go thru att first. I am also worried because I read a bunch of folks having trouble with the FD version, boot loops and the like and having to send in for repairs, seems like a bad experience.

The true international models (by true I mean not international as in Indian models or something like that, but instead models not associated with any carrier) do get updates faster. Carrier updates take several months longer to come out.

have you been getting any lag? I've been getting enough stuttering to make this note 7 at&t variant kind of annoying
I have the FD and so far so good, haven't had any issues with it . Using smart switch on the old device and the new one makes transferring the pic, documents, contacts and setting a breeze. It pretty much set up 90 percent of my settings in the phone.
I have not had any lag with the device, perhaps anyone that is should check the device manager to shut things down that they don't need.
I currently have my FD model running on a straight talk sim and ive not seen a drop in coverage weather it be voice or data.
