No, but it will still function the same. It still would be a tmobile phone though.
delayed updates, bloatware, perhaps other restrictions... I won't go for it, even if the price is nice!

sounds good to me... they mentioned that factory unlocked phones lose their warranty from samsung, but if these are t-mobile phones locked and given unlock codes, they should retain the warranty.

Any Moderators around to create a forum for it?

Lol. The AT&T one was unlock-able with HTC Dev...So it wasnt "locked" by AT&T. But this will surely be encrypted and no HTC Dev support.

It would be tragic if this phone was locked down so tight that we couldn't flash anything.
Too late Verizon. God I hate you.

hi guys..
Whats the better device to buy
T-mobie/Note3/N900T ? AT&T/Note3/N900A ? Amazon-Unlocked/N9005
I will be primarily using the phone on t-mobile, but would like to use it in other countries like
India as well with local sim card/s
I can afford to buy the device... and am not on any plan at the moment,
also don't intend to marry a cell phone carrier...

I understand Samsung Devices are not generally Bootloader Locked... I am not sure of the carrier branded devices though (never used one) If the Nexus-5 ain't any good, I am going for the Note... The only thing I wish is that they eliminate the home button, I hate it... I just want a bezel less piece of glass..
Hi, my sister gave me a S4 from A&T; however, I have T-Mobile. My question is, I plan to unlock it to use with T-mobile, but just in case my sister need the phone back, it is possible to relock the sim so that AT&T doesn't know the phone is unlocked when my sister use it? One of her friends had trouble with AT&T for unlocking an iPhone. Just want to cover all ends.
Thanks for your help.
iPhail and Android's are 2 completely different things. When you unlock an iPhone, you have to jailbreak (root for idiots) it 75% of the time. SIM unlocking an Android device does not void the warranty. They cannot fault you for it.
Once it is done correctly, it is permanent.

Thanks for the reply. It's not about fault, but it is currently illegal in the U.S. to unlock phones prior to end of contract so I think that was the problem.
They can't tell unless they test it with a competitors SIM.

I see. So they can't tell if a phone is unlock but still uses AT&T sim, the company can't tell if it's unlocked based on the info they receive from the phone?

I doubt anybody is going to be arrested from unlocking the phone but the law is still there. I don't know the details but her friend was fined $500 for unlocking an iPhone.
The FCC just need to their asses to work and make everything legal again that's all. LOL.
They should not be able to see anything unless they go into the service menus on the device itself. They also don't really care.

In spite of what the poorly trained Samsung employees tell you, only Samsung sells the DE. And they are almost always backordered. And they are not subsidized, so retail is $699, plus shipping and sales tax. Works out to $750 total. If you keep an eye out on eBay and swappa.com, you will see used ones occasionally.

The only real difference in the DE version is the bootloader is unlocked so not restricted as the normal Verizon phones. Which I don't really understand why they block the bootloader these days to begin with.
Hey all. I am on mintsim that runs on T-Mobile. It runs great. My T-Mobile v20 has that app unlock for the sim. I would like to unlock it because why not. Anyway around the app unlock? Thanks

Cellunlocker.net I've had great experiences with. Just did a ZTE ZMax Pro from metopcs yesterday that has the app unlock. It took about 30 minutes.
You might can find some cheaper ones if you have eBay just search for T-Mobile app unlock but usually those are slower.

You would need to ask T-Mobile or pay for an app unlock usually $20-$40 and only if the phone has a clean IMEI.

It may not work if it's been rooted etc what error do you get? Also T-Mobile has to do something on there side before the app will actually unlock the device.

Just really afraid to going back to stock. You never know if can root it again. Is it right?
indeed if your bootloader is unlocked, that ****ty app will not unlock your sim. I found this out when I re-locked my bootloader and the app worked. but by then I already had T-Mobile unlock my sim manually, which took a lot of calls and effort. any way unlocked i the bootloader again and the app just kept spinning.

Is the unlock service down still for T-Mobile, I have a LG V20 I need unlocked. I just bought it & when I tried to unlock it using the app it fails, says phone not eligible. I checked the IMEI at T-Mobile web site& it comes up outstanding balance due on phone. But yesterday I recieved text messages from T-Mobile confirming the guy who sold me the phone made a payment plan agreement, something like 3 installment to get acct upto date, but tried unlocking after I recieved notice of payment arrangements, & still no good on unlocking with app. I'm hoping I can get it done paying a service, since I'm planning on using out of USA. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The unlock service was never down. The phone/past due account has to be fully paid off before T-Mobile will unlock the device.
