Hey everyone, Just a question. I have managed to get my linux box building OmniROM and I was wondering what the differences were between custom and Full? Can anyone help me? Its not too important. I am building full now and will build custom after to see if there would be any difference!

Custom is "omni", "full" is the AOSP config.
Eventually we'll hide the non-custom ones, so that they don't appear in the list, I imagine

Hello everyone! I just spent awhile in the development forums looking for a simple optimized stock rom. Back on my Galaxy Nexus, I used to run Pete Alfonso's builds because they were pretty much stock with root and some simple optimizations and improvements. I can't seem to find any Nexus 4 roms of this type? Does anybody know any good, supported, but very minimal optimized stock roms? I don't want a CM10.1/AOKP/PA based rom. I don't want loads of custom code. Just a good quick rom!
Thanks

If you run into any issue while building read the last few pages of the thread
How can I tell if a ROM is AOSP or CM base as the kernels are usually separated as such?
Some devs indicate that, but if they don't then is there a way to tell?
I am particularly looking at this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/orig-development/rom-mahdi-rom-2-4-t2581007
Thanks.
Well the most accurate way is to ask if the rom is CM based....
I think Mahdi is CM based, but im not 100% sure

Search and you will find (I put "aosp" in the search box for the thread)
Thanks guys for the quick response. I guess for every ROM there's always someone who has asked the question already.
I'm looking at the Neptune pine to see what I can do with it.
so far I have obtained the kernel config
Configkernel3.4
This Thread is for sharing information and Q/A
My goal is to have a custom android rom compiled and then to try port different O/S's to it.
Nice! What's the status of your efforts?
How to the testing .....

What about using the kernel source from cyanogenmod, like the dev did who released beta cyanogenmod?

Ok, should have read it better. Are you able to just compile a kernel for testing. Once you have a working one, that would be a good base for updating rom.

Any update on this?
Guess this is not going to happen. Just wish I still had the time I used to. I would have had a go my self, as the vanilla kernel is what kills this cool bit of kit.
I managed to get it to a usable state with google play installed, by installing SkyNET. Which tweaks the system on the fly when needed. Helps keep as much memory as possible.
Would the kernel source of the Nokia X help? as it uses the exact same hardware.
I have it downloaded, so if it will help, I can link.
I have given up on anyone doing anything with pine. So I tweaked stock rom as much as I could, got it running very nicely even with my 130GB storage (link2sd). I also modified the ramdisk image to support init.d on boot. Im also using kickarse kernel script.

Can you post how you did it? Thanks
@fol I would also be interested in it.

I used rom kichen to mess with ramdisk (it was very risky as messing with boot image can brick pine). I manually added init.d support. Then repacked it. Luckly it worked fine. I even flashed it to my sons.
I extracted stock system.zip and tweaked it the way I wanted (debloated added apps I owned), then flashed that. As I added init.d, I could use scripts on boot to alter running of pine.
Im currently using Project skynet vr4, which runs very nice.
@fol What is skynet? Do you have a link?
Hi everyone,
Just creating this thread to see if there is any developer who might want to port/ develop cyanogenmod to the SM-T350.
Currently Evervolv for our tablet is a big step forward, but development for it seems slow. I'm not saying anything bad about the developer, on the contrary, is a big step forward.
Anyone interested on developing some sort of Cyanogenmod or AOSP rom for our tablet, I'm more than willing to become a tester.
Good day to all.

I would be willing to test for you too. Just let me know. I would actually like to learn how to get a device that is not currently supported onto a build like this. Porting?.. If so, What device do you use as the port device?

I'm not really sure on how to port or compile, but I'm going to be searching some other websites (forums) and ask some people from LineageOS on how to port or compile a rom. And sure, you can be an alpha tester after I try it out myself because I don't want devices to be bricked.

I completely understand. Let me know if I can help. I am kind of new at building but am trying to learn as much as I can. I am set up for building AOSP right now but would be willing to look into setting up for Lineage building. If I hear anything, or come across anything that may help your project I will be sure to let you know as well.

If you have a CM build for the T350 would you mind sharing it? Also did it die due to CM or unrelated?
I've been tossing around what I want to develop on my T350. I would like to use it to learn how to build android from source and install a custom oem android. I'd also like to customize the stock 3E recovery, or fork CWM. A Custom Recovery or modified TWRP is what I'd like to do.
With Android 7.1.1 and 8.0 out now, maybe I'd like to get into a custom intertwined boot.img and recovery.img. Trying to decide how best to setup the dev box.
