Hopefully someone like Chainfire picks up the ball and runs with it.
I'll try to port it over. I think all that needs to be done is apply the code to the system image from our device. I'll give you guys an update.

They can only root with out tripping knox because Verizon and at&t note 3 has a locked bootloader. But note 3 without locked bootloader like t mobile you can't root without tripping knox.
So since our tablet doesn't have a locked bootloader we can't root without tripping knox
Basically if you root note 10.1 2014= trip knox
So let me get this straight, Knox only matters if you send something into Samsung for warranty? So when the factory warranty expires, shouldn't there be no reason to worry about Knox being tripped anymore?

if that's the case a root and recovery should be relatively trivial for some who knows what they're doing and doesn't mind a possible warranty void. at least one person I've read had his knox flag on and his unit is is repair staus waiting on parts.
looks like it does work on an unlocked bootloader, root only:

My happily rooted GS4's screen died and I took it Sprint for a replacement. They gave me a refurbished GS4 SPH-L720 with Android 4.4.2 and this build/baseband L720VPUFNAE. I've spent some time searching and I'm still not sure I've got the latest info on this:
Can I root? Based on this thread I think I can use CF Root but I'm not sure.
Will rooting trip the Knox flag and possibly void my warranty? Based on my searches, yes, I think it will trip the Knox flag. As of now there's no way around it.
Can I downgrade without tripping the Knox flag? No, I don't think I can.
Can anyone confirm that this the latest status on NAE? I'd rather avoid tripping the Knox flag, just because, but I'd like to have root back for RoamControl, Titanium Backup, and Tasker. And anyway, if the phone fails again I'm pretty no one at Sprint will be looking at the Knox flag when I go in to switch it out (or will they???).

I have Galaxy S4 tri-band SPH-L720T with L720TVPUBNC6 kitkat 4.4.2. I understand that rooting this phone will set Knox to 0x1. But i need Knox to use phone at work, unless someone knows of an alternative to it? I'm thinking an already rooted NC6 tar flashed via Odin will not trip knox, is that right? I've seen rooted stock roms before, but i could not find rooted NC6. Is there a way i could mod/root the original tar.md5 file and then flash it? Some help would be great.
Thanks a lot
No way to root without tripping Knox as of now.

What are the odds of someone finding a way to root Kitkat without affecting Knox? If Knox 0x1 only voided the warranty and did not disable it then i would not care about it. I've found alternatives to Knox, that may have to be enough for now.

Any methods that you will find that accomplish this have been guaranteed by Samsung to be quickly put to bed.
They're all for being able to root but they have to assure Enterprise MDM users of data security.
It's why I use the G2 for Airwatch and leave the S4/S5 for dev or home use.

If by G2, you mean LG G2, then yes it's all LG or HTC for me now. And Airwatch is on the top of my list of Enterprise MDM, This begs the question, if knox is tripped will Airwatch or another MDM still work? Or, since Knox is in the bootloader, can Samsung lock the phone to only use Knox?
Hi,
I want to root my note 4 (n910f) but the only thing that is keeping me away from that is the knox counter.
Do you guys think that soon there will be a way to root the device without tripping knox?
Knox is made to trip.

There is a way to root the canadian note3 without tripping knox.
Hopefully, some one will work on and find a way to do it for the note 4.
Don't hold your breath.
Strange but I rooted my note 4 N910g 4.4.4 with cf-root and even after rooting, my private mode seems to be working just fine.
I am happy though as I was scared that i would loose my 4gb of data locked away in private mode which I did not.
I am not using any xposed, any mods or any tweaks yet. Just plain stock ANK4, rooted.
My lovely new Note 4 is still stock and not having root is unbearable (or more to the point Xposed Framework). Does anyone know if anyone is actively trying to find a non-knox tripping root for 5.1.1?
I rooted my Note 3, just before Towelroot came out a few years back
This would be a dream really. I need root without tripping knox SO BAD, i really need it with the 5.1.1 update.

hi,
Firstly, I am on Android v 5.1.1, rooted with custom recovery. To get root at the moment you have to flash permissive kernel. Yes logic says that will trip Knox... correct, (in my case Knox was trip in October 2014 when phone was launched.)
Secondly,
With Note5 already launched, i doubt if any effort will be made, re Note4 root (not tripping Knox)
Just the way i see it at moment
good luck
Currently it is not available and it won't be, trust me.
There is no real focus and interest on development of the Note 4.
I have heard that magisk versions above v12 can do it but never tried eventually so if you know if it can or something that can root without tripping knox please tell me.
and one more question does Kingroot trip knox. I dont want to root with Kingroot but yea...
There is no way to root without tripping Knox.
Magisk can hide knox counter from apps, but it cannot reset the counter, nor can it root without tripping it.
Kingroot will trip it as well.
Kingroot won't work for s8.
You can root then set knox to 0x0 on the PHONE only. Download mode will still show 0x1 and knox tripped.
Only thing you lose rooting is Samsung pay. And maybe warranty depending on region.

Yeah it will always start on all devices, then most likely fail around 40%. Only phone I ever got to work with kingroot was an old alcatel pixi.
There's a few advantages of rooting s8 but depends what you use root for. If you do want to root I suggest TWRP and magisk.
