Hey guys, just thought I should check in. Seems like this forum is beginning to die. Has anyone got any new things that they would like me to test on my continuum?
Yes, I will have somethings to beta hopefully releasing mid next week, this weekend is my last week of work. So I'm freeing up my weekends again to get back to deving more...
You what are you currently working on?

Sounds interesting. I need to get back to gb and I don't remember how to do that...

Does anyone still use this phone as their daily driver? Looking at people's signatures no one's says sent from the SCH-I400

Just in the past few weeks I quit using it. I've been trying to get it to work with groove ip lite. So far it works just not with the stock dialer.

I use google voice, do I click on use google voice for all calls?
Why doesn't grove ip work? I use that on my dna sometimes.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
Groove ip works but not with the default dialer, was simply trying to streamline the look. It actually works really well, so right now I'm just asking more for improving aesthetics.

Well I don't think it does use stock dialer at all. Stock dialer uses verizons ish. Groove has its own operations and google voice to call and text just uses voice. I'm pretty sure u can take out the dialer and just use groove and voice

Also thought I should share my nifty sms app I have been using.
It's called ninja sms and I got it for 1$ at the play store and I love it. Should check it out of you text quite a bit and don't want to continuously change between apps. It allows the sms to come up on the screen. Kind of like multi boxing on the s3
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
My lcuid 2 has that ability where the text will pop up and allow me to respond, delete or view without leaving the app. It is a super awesome feature.
Yeah I wish my dna had it stock but ninja sms is good for me.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
Does ninja have a character count? My pop-up has a character limit, if I go into the native messaging app I can type as much as I want and it will break it into multiple messages, the pop up only allows for a single message response. I haven't decided if I like that or not. I guess it really depends on I can use that to tweet.
When I text I can send more than 120 characters and on my screen it only sends as one message. You could try it out and always refund if you don't like it.

Yeah just took a look at it and sent a large message and it sent as one huge message and didn't split into different messages. You can view a text that is more than 160 characters as long as it was sent as one big message. I don't believe it has a limit. As far as I can tell it doesn't split it up.

So I really like the way ubuntu looks. Since my dna is locked and I have no access to unlock or root the phone via software method all I can do is jtag, however I'm not going to do that so I can't flash anything. Since I love the way ubuntu looks I decided to theme my phone after it using a launcher and a ton of custom widgets. Here is what I came up with.

are you on a custom rom? I had that issue on my epic 4g on cyanogenmod.
I'm on the stock rom. Haven't even rooted yet. Although I am using handcent instead of the stock messaging app.

Set handcent as default for MMS. Should fix it. If not then do for both SMS & MMS

This is interesting
I had this happen after the 4.1.2 update on my S3. After every boot I would get one.
I tried the Handcent thing... No good. Ran across a thread somewhere about it being a "silent" text from Sprint notifying the phone about Voicemail. I had the Voicemail app frozen with TiBU. Defrosted it and Never had the issue again.
Don't know if this will help but maybe it will put someone on the track to figuring it out.

Visual voicemail for sure. Been around since Galaxy S, fellas.

It's handcent. My wife started getting those several times a day on her S3. I blocked the number on the Sprint website, blacklisted it on the phone and they still came up. Called Sprint support and they said it was Handcent. Uninstalled it and it all stopped. Not really needed on the Samsungs anyway.

It is not handcent. It might happen on Handcent, but it also happens on the stock messaging app as well. I've gotten it on AOSP and TW roms with the stock messaging app.
I have it happening to me now on my S4 and I would get it on my S3 as well, whenever I got one of those messages I would be getting a voice mail as well. I just had the texts from that number blocked and I never got it again.

I get those. I'm rooted on a custom ROM and they inform me I have a new voicemail
I searched, but the mobile app sucks for filtering results so hopefully someone has an answer.
Is there anyway to send MMS over WiFi on T-Mobile? I know I could use a WiFi messaging app like whatsapp, but I don't want it to be something were both parties need it installed.
Anyone have a hacked MMS.apk I can side load that does this?
I'm currently on xenon ROM and it doesn't support this feature.

No, you need mobile data on your plan or you'll likely be charged for not adhering to your plan bounds.

I have mobile data on my plan. My problem is that in my house I only have a couple bars of edge service. So when I send a group message via MMS it takes forever and if I send a picture message it takes hours if it sends at all.

There's no other way. Perhaps you can complain to Tmo about your service or get a signal booster from them.

Well that stinks. Reason I ask is b/c someone told me that the MMS.apk in ChaOS ROM has this feature. I was able to get the MMS.apk for that ROM, but didn't have success side loading it on xenon ROM.
I didn't care for chaOS ROM to even see if it was true or not.
What is the proper way to side load an MMS.apk? I renamed my currentcmms.apk to MMS.apk.bak and than moved the new MMS.apk to system/app and installed it. Changed permusssions and Rebooted the phone, but the app would just fail.
Than it was a pain to get the original to work again.

The only thing i can recommend is using gosms app. It sends sms and mms over wifi.

It doesn't send of Wi-Fi what it does is enable your mobile data long enough to send the mms and then goes back to Wi-Fi. You can't send mms over Wi-Fi unless the same app is installed on both phones. There are some messaging apps that claim to so it but what they do is download the app to their servers and then tries to send it with their messaging system. Which is against most laws but legal in come countries.

Anyone..rebuttal?
I have that option as well. Doesn't work for me. I've only tried calling through a few different carriers, one AT&T (stock GS3) the other being Verizon (HTC DNA, custom ROM unknown which one). Both failed to call after what seemed like an attempt. I'm on Golden Eye 3.0 with KT kernel.

My best guess is it is the SAME as when I ran custom ROMs on previous Galaxy Series phones with ported from international series firmware. We would have the video call button but ATT doesn't allow video calling so it never worked. It is something that ATT blocks so it will never work. You can find threads in the Galaxy S2 I777 threads and Galaxy S1 Captivate threads on how to remove the video call icon from the .apk's and resize the layout so it doesn't have the icons out of shape/place. Unfortunately until ATT let's us call over data it will never work.

Unfortunately since it is NOT built into our phones firmware automatically (removed/changed thanks to ATT firmware) we could not use the same tactics the iPhone people used and have it cleared for use.
But there are other apps that we can use from the play store and have video over cellular signal. But the catch is you have to be rooted and use something like gTalk enabler or change a setting in the build.prop for it to work. You can try apps like Google Talk/Hangouts, Skype, Tango for video calling over the cell signal. I have used Google Talk and Tango.

Hey guys. With the new hangouts there are a lot of the features from previous SMS apps missing. Like the quick pop up reply from notification menu and multiple contacts.
I like hangouts and to be honest I'd like to use just one app only. Using Textra and it is awesome but can I uninstall hangouts and just use Textra on its own? What you guys use

I use google voice, barely any improvements, very buggy. But I haven't found anything better for texting thru voice. Also kakaotalk which is very bloated. I want a clean app that has option to send/not send push notifications. Know any?
I'm glad u said Hangouts is mandatory, I hate that. Can't we revert back to an older version and not be forced to use proprietary crap.
