Has anyone else noticed lag in responsiveness on the screen while navigating through the phone, especially the browser. I even installed Dolphin Browser and it also lags. The touch isn't instantaneous compared to my Note 2. Could it be bloat ware slowing it down? I did check ram usage and it does seem high all the time.....

Here's my Ram usage only have 4 apps running now.

Ram usage. Haven't rebooted since I got the phone in the store. I never kill apps from recents or clear ram. And no lag at all. Love this phone when with the bloat. at least its organized bloat.

Your almost maxed out too and no lag? What phone are you coming from? My note 2 I never experienced screen lag....

I've had every flag ship phone. S3 s4 note 2 and now note 3. Yes they all lag. But no I haven't had lag yet. When I get a phone I don't restart it. Till after the 14 days. As a stress test. Ive had phones in the past that were broken and random rebooted once a day due to hardware failure.

Is Power Saving Mode enabled within Settings?
Try going to Settings - Developer options and change Window animation scale, Transition animation scale, and Animator duration scale to Off
I played with a tmo n3 and noticed lag, but today I played with vzw and didn't notice any, go figure..

also have an issue with the touch screen. notice it alot when on the browser and trying to hit links. have to press more then once for a response. never had that issue with the note 2. im waiting for a replacement because mine has pink hue on half of the screen on the bottom. hopefully the one that comes on monday wont have this issue. maybe the touch screen issue is because of the pink tint? idk, we will see on monday

I don't have a issue with pink hue or any color problems. I think this browser lag is a bug that everyone has. I went into verizon store for the hell of it and both their model phones had browser lag. Same problem have to hit links several times etc....

After using the new SGTab 2 7" I have experiencing the touchscreen is unresponsive in some occasions.
For example closing the tabs in the brrowser on the X mark is very hard, both in the stock browser and Chrome.
When I try to clear my mssage in the bottom right corner, it also doesn't recognize my touch on various occasions.
It seems to me that along the edges of the screen, the touches are harder to recognize. Have any of you recognized this problem aswell?
After reading a review on Techradar.com, this passage stood out for me:
''Disappointingly, we found the touchscreen experience to be a little sub-par. The sensitivity of the display was lower than we expected, and we found it hard to register presses on small parts of the browser, such as links, and the close tab button.''

I encountered the same fault/defect on my Tab2 10.1
especially on small objects,
but it seems not to be constant.
meaning it generally works, but sometime i have to press multiple times to activate the selected button or object.
I found that fingerprints really lower the sensitivity of the screen. If you wipe off the screen after prolonged use, the touch experience will be much better. I verified this using a touch recognition program.

Yeah I wipe and I wipe haha..on all my devices. But it seems worse on this device, compared to all others even though I clean very often.
Cheers for your suggestion though

thats true
some times happens to me too in youte app, i notice it only there still.
Same thing here, it gets incredibly frustrating for me. It's very noticeable trying to close a tab.

Is it a hardware or software issue?
Software...lately it doesn't happen anymore..on and off

Got mine today. And ive been fine, then again i have a crappy screen protector lol.
After rooting and flash a custom rom on p5100, everything is OK. Become responsive. So I believe Samsung touchwiz on ics might be the cause of the problem.
Yeah me too not satisfied with the samsung touch wiz...but I don't think I am having problem with touch screen...though it is not as smooth as with iPhone 4...
Sent from my GT-P3113 using xda app-developers app
Do you have a screen protector on? Mine was crappy with it on, so i removed it.
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2
Had this problem when I was on Stock. Not dead touch points but it was more like an inability to sense my touch due to lag due to touchwiz. Changing to nova launcher helped... And then.... Tried CM9 rom and all is well. Not sure if you wanna take that route but for me... It worked. I am a happy camper!
Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk 2
Is there a way to calibrate the screen on the T2 10.1?
After 10 minutes of reckless racing 2, the screen gets unresponsive, i think it might be something to do with the battery or cpu getting hot, I am using the stock modified rom from metallice
Am I the only one experiencing MASSIVE lag on this phone? The lag comes and goes intermittently, its really random. Not consistent, but I experience it often doing typical tasks, such as changing my browser window, opening text messages, changing between apps, the notification bar will stutter when pulled down randomly, etc. This is my second S4, and both seem to lag really bad.
What do you guys think?
Turn off all bloat ware or factory reset the phone.

Its off, at first I thought maybe that was the problem, but I'm positive its off.
It's a problem. Everyone has noticed it with the AT&T version. AT&T and Samsung really need to get together and get on this pretty quick to address this issue. Stutter and lag should not be part of a phone that scores so well on every benchmark.

So its limited to just the At&t branded version? If thats the case I might just return this and pick up the T-mobile version.
Install Nova launcher and override the transition animations with either slide or ICS. That takes care of the stutters when opening and closing apps.

Im convinced the lag is a sure thing on ALL devices. Those of you who dont THINK you have no lag, I assume is because you have never used a lag free device like the HTC One or Nexus 4. Personally at this point I'd go as far to say my old S3 was "smoother" than this S4.....
Mine is so laggy that I don't even want to use it. I would say that its because it has so much going on.

Occasional home button response delay
Sent from my Galaxy S4
Your definition of Lag is definitely different than my definition. However, the "home" button has a short pause because it is designed that way. It is waiting (just a fraction of a second) to see if you are going to use it for it's double tap option or not. Disable this feature (you can search for how) and that very little delay should go away.

You did a 10 minute video for that???? I believe when you say you have OCD. I suggest you to seek professional help, and not from Samsung support
I agree there's nothing wrong with your phone.. But they're might be something wrong with you if a .01 millisecond delay bothers you to the point of making a 10 minute video and rambling on and on about it. I would try and get laid if I were you and stop worrying about the phones home button.. Not that big of a deal

Thank goodness for fast forward or that would have been a painful 10 minutes.
You should all kinds of weirdness with your launcher - how about going back to stock 100% first. But from what I see things are fine. Maybe the mechanical home button is slower then the touchscreen. You could always return it for an iPhone.
Hahahahaha is this guy serious
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using xda premium
Limiting the process to four will negatively impact your performance.
More ram usage does not mean more battery usage, in fact it should usually save battery because the applications are already loaded in ram when you go to use them. If you are constantly killing them you'll have to reload from nand flash and back into ram.
Also you should probably try to make shorter videos
Do you have any idea why when I have maybe 5 apps in my recent list my home button response has a slight delay but then if I clear all recent the home button response is basically instant?
Sent from my Galaxy S4
I actually went to at&t yesterday to compare mine to the display models and the home button response was exactly the same, until I started loading multiple apps then mine was a tad bit slower. You guys might think this is ridiculous but I'm just trying to make sure that I don't have a defective device. I have like 6 more days to return it to Verizon if i feel I do.

your not crazy, the lag is def there. however, it is designed to be like that, so there will be no changing it. just ignore these trolls, everyone loves the opportunity to come out from the shadows to spew spite all over the newbs and repeat posters.

I will tell you that I hate the Nova option because you can do that on any phone and I like to stay on stock launchers. Also, that's just a band aid. An un-optimized software is underneath.
And trust me, I've had the S3, Note 2 and S4.... Flashing a rom is still using their un-optimized software. It just makes it a bit more bearable.
In my Samsung career I've flashed probably over 100 roms. It doesn't hide the flaws enough. I'm over Samsung and feel sorry for the people who are paying an insane amount of money for a phone with that much lag.

Hello everyone. Had my Note 3 for about a week now and I love it. A couple of things I've noticed and wonder if anyone else has this. I like to disable the animations in Developer Options so the phone feels more fluid. But for some reason the transition animations wont stay off. They always go back to 1. Second question. Just recently my 4Glte icon doesn't hide like it used to. It now sits next to my wifi icon for no real reason. Anyone else?
