[Q] best ROM for galaxy y?? - Galaxy Y GT-S5360 and Duos 6102 Q&A, Help & Troubl

please suggest me a good ROM for my galaxy y. I had earlier installed nexus me V5 cm7 ROM but now I have realised that it lacks basic qualities. I can't increase the volume because it seems that the speaker would burst. I can't remove the recent apps from the list. I can't use the FM, Google search force closes(always). & now it often freezes & is slowing down. sometimes it can't even open the messages. So, please suggest me a ROM, which is 1)stylish 2) has good features & is stable.
your help will be highly appreciable

New to Samsung

I've been around these forums for a good while now, having used older HTC devices in the past and more recently under my current moniker on Android devices. Having previously owned G1, G2 and Desire from HTC I'll be receiving a Samsung GSII tomorrow, having chosen it over the HTC Sensation.
Moving to a new device is always fun and enjoyable, but may be even more so moving to an entirely new manufacturer. I was just looking for any pointers and tips from the community on the best ROM's around for the GSII (seeing as there is currently no thread dedicated to listing them) and tips for use on stock firmware, while I do my reading. I've already read through the QA and had a browse through the dev forums (damn it seems like an entirely different site to the XDA I'm used to).
I've used Cyangogenmod for some time now, having run JesusFreke roms initially on my G1 in the early days, used many different variants of android, though liking a stock feel more than any skinned ROM. I've used and liked Oxygen, Villain Rom and even LeeDroid (on a Sense skinned ROM).
Any tips thoughts and pointers would be greatly appreciated.
In my case I also just bought the phone ,, almost,, about 4 weeks ago.
After about a week I decided to flash to litenin v5 with Odin. afterwards I changed kernel through clockworkmod to the ninpheta 2.0.5 kernel, I am getting great results I believe at least, and the ROM is very very very enjoyable (thanks litePRO), stable and battery sufficient with this kernel mentioned above for me.
I am using setcpu with the kernel Aswell so I can o/c u/c and u/v it,
i Haave had no problems at all,
Chainfire 3d nice app
Lcd density changer nice app
Root explorer nice app
Enjoy your phone,

Cm7 nightlys are pretty stable and fully featured, missing bluetoth audio and fm radio mostly.
As far as stock based roms I found villen rom and ninphetamine kernel to be a great combo, links to cm and vr+nin in my sig

Will have a look at the ROM, any specific benefits to it? As far as applications been using android since beginning and know what I use there. I would rather edit the file manually for screen density, I'm assuming it's the same file on Samsung devices?

Battery life would be an issue with any ROM I look to use, is this a ROM specific bug?

Been looking over the CM nightlys forum on their sight and it does seem stable, though would like to try out others while I'm playing. Would miss the FM radio though (yes some of us still do listen!).
May have to have a look at Villain, is it the same dev as the GS1/Desire or a port of his ROM?
@OP- Welcome to GSII forum.
Well I can't advice you any Custom ROM's like CM or else as I have no inetrest in them, but if you want advice on Stock then you can use Chainfire Root. It is the simplest rooting process and keeping the kernel close to Stock. You could also try Ninphetamine kernel if you want BLN and Voltage tweaks. For all these just visit the Original Development section.
I would not advice you to use SetCPU and do some Undervolting tweaks as I am yet to confirm their effectiveness. But it's completely up to you.
Also for simple mods and tweaks just read the Q&A thoroughly, a lot of simple yet needed stuffs already discussed there.
Regards.

Thanks for the welcome (as you can see not really a big poster, more of a lurker).
Yeah I've read over the Q&A and some nice basic tricks there. Thanks for the advice on a start, with stock ROM's, really want root from day one to be able to do what I'm used on my device but just get used to using the Samsung interface, haing never experienced it before. Only ever used SetCPU in the early days on my G1/G2 when it was needed to run some of the later android versions. I really don't see the necessity of overclocking/underclocking a fast dual core CPU and with the advancements made in the android governor as it is.

Man, I am impressed, you are the first person to say like that. Needless to say you are absolutely right. I can't believe how many people are jumping for SetCPU and Voltage tweaks without knowing what they are doing.
And yes root is a must, Sammy could've already rooted it while shipping and would have saved two minutes of us
Regards.
Well the lite v5 just works great , I had no issue what so ever , battery no issues, IM at 25 % now after 17 hours with quite heavy use, not much push, but frequent checking of different social ****, whatsapp and viber always connected , 35 mins of streamin live footy on the train home ,spotify about 2 hours, quite heavy use on the internet some downloads. , ,
5 hours wifi 12 hours 3g.
I am satisfied,

I dont really listen to music on the move, so same goes for FM
Its the same dev group as from the G1/desire I think, ninpo kernel is the "official" VR kernel, theres updates in the dedicated thread.

The gingermod is interesting if you like minimal but not castrated rom.
It's ASOP look, and samsung app free except where it count : browser, camera, video.
The 0.3 is good to test, lasted 0.5 got some issue.

Sotmax Jelly Bean Ultimate Stock V10 - Feedback

hi all,
Because I am not a developer, and I want to share my feedback about this ROM Sotmax v10
I used to use this ROM:
And it was great, and stable, until I face an issue with the galaxy stopped working: error, after that I said, let more to the official 4.1.2 Samsung GS3 rooted ROM and I chose this:
My feedback:
I am a daily drive user, who keeps running in social apps, turning wifi on/off depends on the place also the signal will be 3g/gsm dpends on the signal strength.
The phone is amazing, it was little girlish at the beginning after installing the ROM, and after that it runs smooth and amazing.
The battery is superb like the stock phone, it feed my phone like more than 15 hours.
The Note II specs are working great and nice
Everything is great in this ROM, and I never face any issue with gallery or the camera as I did in (CM10 and the previous one: )
If you really look for a ROM which is looks like the original of SGS3, I recommend to use this ROM, honesty I didn’t use the OMEGA ROM, because I like the transparent options this Sotmax has.
I tried my best to give you a summarized feedback, and I wish I have done a good one 
Yet another pointless post .
jje
Great feedback and I agree because I use thisnrom myself but I only use v9.
But I do also agree with JJE that just you putting you feedback is a pointless reason to start a thread.
But maybe if it was a General Feedback thread for this rom for other users to leave there Feedback also then maybe this thread would be better.

New to the nexus family

Hello everyone, i just bought nexus 4 today came from SGS4 i9500 and been using the phone for the past couple of hours and i'm liking it a lot, very smooth and sexy lol.Anyways, like every android i get i go for custom roms, so as a new nexus member i have no idea what good roms, kernels to flash and would really appreciate it if someone can help me with this and sure any useful info about the phone ( like what the good/bad in nexus) i should know of as a nexus starter just let me know please, Thank you in advance.
Welcome to the family!
Franco kernel is a good choice to go with.
I don't know which ROM is good though since I like stock alot!

Hello dear Sir/Madam,
The decision was right, the Nexus 4 is an awesome device, suk it Samsung!
In my personal experience, best roms are Cyanogenmod nightlies 10.1/10.2 (10.2 if you want 4.3 base) and MIUI V5 (awesome theming capabilities). Best kernel, in terms of battery saving and performance is faux123 kernel. It allows you to enhance screen colors, ram usage and also undervolting control (which saves battery) with very smart cpu governor, enabling the full nexus 4 performance right when you need it! It also gives control over various other functions, such as gpu overclocking, giving even better graphic performance.

I been a samsung customer for so long and cant deny the fact that samsung are so good when it comes to mobiles but the galaxy S4 i9500 variant disappointed me a lot.Anyway i sure will try the kernel and the roms you suggested and see how it will go.(looking at the N4 dev threads , tons of custom roms and kernels which makes it not easy to decide what to flash lol )

It is generally a good advice to check the respective rom threads for the functions you require. Eg if you require a rom with pie control, check the rom thread for pie control on the feature list ( if there is one ). My own experience shows that most functions are not really needed, such as aforementioned pie control, that is just a comfort function, if at all. Most important function is Quiet Hours, which does not work on many roms, for whatever reason. Again, i can recommend MIUI V5 rom. It has awesome themes, you can even make your Nexus 4's OS look like an iPhone with IOS7! MIUI also features animated symbols, like the calendar or clock app. Their symbols change according to time/date. Same applies for the data usage icon. After you have set up your data plan's limit, the icon will update automatically, depending on your data usage.
I can suggest the pacman rom.
It's kinda paranoid android, aokp and cyanogenmod mashed into one

Welcome to the Nexus4 and Happy Flashing!
Thanks guys for all the help . i really appreciate it . I still have one question about the rooting method, i actually saw couple of methods on how to root N4 running android 4.2.2, well now after i upgraded to 4.3 im a bit lost on whats the best method to root N4, just wanna make it right and dont wanna ruin this lovely sweet phone lol.

Your ultimate rom

I have tested just about every rom available to my galaxy note n7000, and come to one conclusion: Carbon rom is a clear weiner for me.
The reasons to which I have concluded this? Well....
Bam is great, but I've found it slowing my device down.
Slim is fantastic, however it lacks quite a few of the pretty making tweaks I have come to covet.
Omni has even less tweaks.
PAC is fantastic too, but due to it having paranoid android, I don't have access to the extra settings I have with xposed app settings.
Paranoid lacks the pezaz a serious greeny such as myself wants. Made by men for men, in my deepest voice.
And all the modded stock roms are great too, but...... nav bar without tablet, I like using my stylus, and don't wish to whip a finger out to do simple tasks.
Yes yes I can hear all the digital intellectuals saying, 'What? Who? When? How?'
But considering even more noobs than ever are judging these masterfully baked Roms, an ignorant judgment has to be considered.
Why carbon? It's pretty, has all the tweaks, plus allows for xposed. Ahhh, I'm in love.
#InBeforeTheLock
LOL "weiner".

Good for you... Have tried quite a bit myself (you forgot to mention the supernexus like ROMs) and always reverted back to touchwizz stock ROM. Lately a few days back I chose omni with KitKat and I think I might settle for some time on that one. Love its fluidity memory management must be great as now I can open several apps without feeling any lag. That may be placebo but I just think it is way over any other ROM nowadays.

Most stable/efficient ROM for the Galaxy S3?

Hi,
I'm currently using CM11 which I really like, however with each release it seems to get more and more buggy for me, and my battery life has been awful lately.
My contract is up so a new phone is an option, however I'd like to try to get as much life out of my phone as possible because apart from the camera and battery the phone is pretty much perfect for me.
Are there any other ROMs I should look at? I'm not overly techy so something easy to install and as close to stock as possible would be great, but my main focus would definitely be stability, speed and battery.
Thanks
If you're looking for JB Rom, you can flash the official 4.3 stock Rom.
If you're looking for Kitkat Rom, I can recommend this, very stable and fast:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52753540
Thank you! Sorry I wasn't very clear with my post, KitKat is a must, and if I'm honest something with a clear and simple upgrade path to Android L with be a huge bonus too.
Blekota S5 Lite is an absolute beast of a rom if you tune it correctly. Since its a touchwiz rom you have to keep the launcher resident in the memory so there's none of that lag. Use boeffla kernel and you'll be coming back to this thread to thank me
