Found out why Samsung browser won't close pages - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I've had a issue with Web pages on Samsung browser not closing and getting message " Internet has closed sooo after a bit of digging on the phone I found out why.
In developers options the option kill processes is ticked, and if I untick it then all works fine if I tick then Web throws its legs in the air. Don't know if it's been worked out before but thought I'd say.

Closing as soon as it opens or after some use? If the former, is your home page set to Google.com with location access enabled?
It's an Android software problem imho. I was just entering a reply in a different xda forum USING OPERA and before I could finish the f'n browser just f'n closed on me. Didn't save where I was browsing or anything.
Has happened to me several times and I don't think it's only the stock browser.
Yeah, google is set as home page and location finder is on.

o noticed that with the lag fix i applied, the browser freezes up or just wont load all the way. I removed the lag fix and everything works fine. I don't even know if there is a way to delete the cache on the ext2 partition. cache cleaner doesn't fix it so it just builds up and builds up

I bet that's your problem. To fix it, try to get into settings before the page finishes loading. Clear location access, and until Samsung releases a fix, don't allow Google.com to have location access.
If you really like the local search feature, try "places directory" from the market in the mean time.
this happened to me everytime i tried to go to flash intesive websites. it wasn't too often though, i ended switching to xscope is the best browser i have used on a mobile device(personal opinion).
give it a try.
stock, dolphin and skyfire all crash on me if i go to some web pages with flash. Turning off use plugins in the settings fixes it.

Web browser keeps closing

This is my second vibrant and I have noticed that after browsing web for s small amount of time the browsers keeps closing suddenly and returning to home screen... This happened on my first vibrant as well... Is anyone else suffering from this issue or knows a way to fix this?

Yes this happens, hopefully they will fix it.
There are two options to remedy the situation for now.
1st, go into your browser settings and uncheck plug-ins.
Personally this didn't work for me
2nd option which works flawlessly. The second option is to visit desktop versions of websites. For example, if I visit mobile version of google, it just randomly exits. So what I did is set my homepage to the full desktop version. Since google is my homepage, i went into settings, and typed out the full path for google desktop view into my start page settings.
Again, if your browser randomly closes, try visiting full page views.
I've also noticed this is linked to the GPS issue. Some sites try to get your location. If the site starts trying to find your location, and your gps is bust, the browser just exits.
you could try a 3rd party browser like dolphin or skyfire.

It has been confirmed that on the Mobile version of Google, the "nearest location" check activates the GPS which crashes the browser.
Turn off the GPS. Open a webpage to Google search and finger "Classic" which is half way down the page. This will switch you to the original Google site so that its not trying to get your location when you open a browser window. If a site is trying to use your location it will happen, but in my experience it has only been on mobile sites using location tracking.
There is a setting to turn off - allow websites to request access to your location. Would that help?
This isn't necessarily a location settings issue. It could be a flash issue. When visiting some pages with flash content, the browser will suddenly close and return you to the homescreen. If this is the case, it will happen every time you visit a particular page, and it will also happen with skyfire and Dolphin HD (at least on the 2 phones I have tried them on). Only option to fix this problem is to disable plug-ins in the browser settings.
Good Luck.

Browser Frezing Up...

Whenever I use the browser for a while with tabs, especially on forums, the browser stops loading pages. The page load status bar just stops half way.
If I force stop the browser in Settings and then go back into it everything works fine for a while until I need to force stop again.
Anyone else with this problem? Any solutions?
It happened to me today. I had to reboot and it got fixed.

I have been having similar issues with the default browser. It loads about 80% and then just stalls. Dolphin browser works fine so I know its not my wireless connection. Kinda of annoyong when I'm trying to do something and I prefer the default browser so I hope this gets fixed some time soon.

Same thing has been happening to me still day 1 with stock browser.
After about 3-4 tabs, pages will start to half load then crash. Even after force closing the browser when I reopen after about 2 tabs it starts to freeze up again until I restart the tab. And now Dolphin HD is crashing on me when ever there a flash heavy site.
WHat gives??
I am sure MOTO will fix this problem some day
The only problem/issue I've had with the browser is: When your watching a video via flash on a site, streaming it, if you switch away from that tab it stops playing the audio.
Makes it impossible to listen to something via stream in the browser and browse other sites =/

Not Moto's issue -- it's the stock honeycomb browser. This update will be coming from Google.

AdBlock and open Wi-Fi agreement?

I notice that when I try to connect to a commercial open wifi like at an airport or McDonald's, I will see my browser open for like a split second then close. I'm pretty sure this is the page that asks me to agree with wifi regulations. This often results in me not being able to use the wife even though it's connected. Is this an adblock issue? Is there a fix other than turning adblock off entirely?

have you tried a different browser like chrome or dolphin. I usually have this when I stay at a hotel, I open the browser in a new tab to agree with T&C and then just leave that tab alone, open a new one and browse from there.
That's the problem. I can't get to the T&C screen. I see the open wifi (for example at Target) Then just after it connects, the browser will flash open for a split second then close. Then when I try to open a new tab or browser window, it won't open to a T&C page, and thus I cannot use the wifi even though I'm connected. I'm assuming this has something to do with adblock, but I can't find the option to shut it off (assuming it's a problem with adblock). Any suggestions?

What adblocking software are you using? (i.e. browser extension or an app that modifies the hosts file, like AdFree)
I usually get a "sign in to wifi network" notification that I can tap to open the new tab with the T&C page.
I have sacs rom and I see "adaway" in the "manage apps" screen, but I don't see a shortcut to it in the apps drawer or in any of the settings. So I don't know how to adjust it.
I don't get a click to sign in notification, maybe that is turned off some how.

If you installed comadose that is likely what is doing it, it has a built in ad blocker

How to access mobile yelp site without downloading Yelp app?

When I click a yelp link for a particular restaurant to check out photos and reviews it directs me to the Playstore to download the Yelp app. I just want to access the mobile yelp site. Is this possible?
Wow, even trying to access trip advisor or other sites directs me to their damn app on playstore. This is extremely annoying.
Any freaking link via Google directs me to the damn playstore if there is an app remotely connected to the site of said link. I'm about to return this phone if this isn't solved. Never had this issue with my G3.

Well moving to Firefox and installing adblockplus add on fixed this really stupid issue. The UC Browser adblocker and the Samsung Internet browsers don't work though.

I'm experiencing the exact same thing with multiple websites and this is extremely annoying. This is definitely NOT a feature. Even if it was on purpose, this is a BUG. I DO NOT want to download every app for every website that has one just to view the website. Please fix this Samsung! This is ridiculous.
edit: I'm also on T-mobile
Yeah, so far I'm not really impressed with the S7 Edge coming from my LG G3. My palm constantly touches the edge which prevents orher touch inputs. Typing is messy and too sensitive. Samsung putting the access settings menu on long press back button is idiotic. Having to have the Assistant Menu button on my screen 24/7 to counter this is annoying. Root may fix this issue but who knows. Now I have to use Firefox for all browsing to just not be redirected to the Playstore when clicking pretty much any link. Just not impressed and may return this device. Too many hindrances for a smooth experience.
