Fix for screen flickering on Galaxy S4

1.
Uncheck the Auto Brightness toggle on the Notification menu.
2.
Settings-> My Device-> Display-> "scroll to the bottom of the list"
Uncheck "Auto adjust screen tone"
Hope this helps!
No Fix
i tried as above but not solved plz help..
I am also suffering this issue (S4 I9505 screen flickering - half screen).
This issue happens for using the low brightness and the power saving option. If you don't have the warranty from Samsung, at the moment these are the options (no solutions) that you can do to avoid the screen flickering:
- Brightness Level (maximum)
- Auto brightness (unchecked)
- Auto adjust screen tone (unchecked)
- Don't use the power saving
- Install "Screen Filter" module in Xposed
I have noticed that the low temperatures affect to this issue, and also the vibrations (after using the bike the first timeS the screen is flickering)
I don't know what causes this issue, if... it is a HW error or a bug after to install something, no idea
If someone knows another solution, please share here! Thanks

[Q] Galaxy S4 I9500 Screen flickering problem

Hi, started this thread to see if anyone had the same problem I'm having with my screen.
I have a Galaxy S4 GT-I9500 (Octa-core variation), it is running 4.4.2, rooted, stock Touchwiz.
The problem is that the screen starts to flicker almost as if it would want to turn off, when in low light conditions and auto-brightness on, it continues to flicker unless I set the brightness between +2 and +5. I can reproduce the issue without auto-brightness setting the brightness to the lowest, one notch above the lowest and there is no flickering. It is noticeable in white backgrounds and also when swiping down the notification center, that's the most noticeable instance but you can see it in the home screen and in any app.
I started noticing it when I had 4.2.2 Jelly bean (rooted), and I updated to Kitkat hoping it would be solved but it is the same, I updated through Kies and rooted, no Factory reset, I want to try that as last resort.
Funny thing I discovered is when I set Juice Defender to control my brightness it does not flicker even in -60% brightness, but when the dimming happens before the screen turns off it does flicker (and the dimming thing is controlled by the OS I think, not Juice Defender).
I wish I could put up a video but I don't have another phone to film it.
Anyone know if this is software or hardware? What can I do?
I'd like to add, that I changed the battery, disabled overlays in developers option, forced GPU rendering, tried Pimp my rom and played with all the settings, checked and unchecked every option in Display settings and it still flickered given the low brightness conditions.
I think I've found the best solution out there for most annoying screen flickering issues... Done a substential amount of digging and finally discovered the app "Twillight" works like a charm by enabling backlight control feature... Try it out first, then thank me and share your experience here ...

[Q] Is there no "Auto" brightness for Tab 4.7?

Seems like an odd thing to overlook....
No
thanks
It's on the Tab Pro and Tab S
In "Settings->General->Power Saving" there's an option to enable Screen Output Mangement. This will automatically lower brightness to save power...
...not sure if it act as a auto-brightness depending on the light in the room you're in but give it a try!
Pretty weird samsung didn't include auto brightness on all the tab 3 models this was present.
Don't mean to necro this thread but the Samsung+ application (device health monitor?) has a setting under battery life that can trigger auto brightness if you want. My tablet doesn't have a normal auto brightness so I have to use that.

display problem/brightness problem

A display problem has occured recently. When the brightness of the screen is set to minimum/very low, one side of the screen appears a little brighter and flickers, starting from the same side as the home button, it seems to get darker 1 bar at a time, until the display is consistently the minimum brightness. (without being able to post a screenshot i cant explain better)
I have tried starting in safe mode (however whats app was running and i thought no apps run in safe mode but the disable safe mode button was there to so idk) anyway the display problem was still present.
android version 5.0
I have the same problem
& til now there is no solution for it
I tried similar kernels & similar roms & it still available
I hope someone give us a solution

Samsung S5 901F - Green flickering screen

Hello
My S5 randomly began flickering with a green screen to the point where I was unable to use my screen. It seems to happen a lot especially when I have the "Auto Brightness" feature on and when it's in a low light environment
I didn't drop the phone , and i tried many solutions , wipe data partition , change the ROM ( to official )
but no solution solve it
PS: I can't make a link from youtube explain my problem by video , but you can search on youtube " Samsung S5 Green flickering screen " to know what exactly the problem is !

yes that's happened often and the phone unlock without any problem, but sometimes the green flickering won't let me unlock the phone
This is a common problem with AMOLED displays. At a certain point when auto brightness or you manually turn the brightness down, the low power involved makes the screen flicker. Try turning off auto brightness and adjusting the sloder until it stops flickering, then you can use apps like Pixel Filter and/or the xposed module Screen Filter to further darken the screen to save battery.

This is a hardware failure. The fix is change screen which can cost as much as a new phone. There are several youtube videos showing that applying hot guns can fix the problem
