I've tried to mount my external sd card, which is on ntfs with several tools, but they all fail.
It seems that fuse is not compatible with the selinux ? Is there any chance we can still use NTFS ?

I bought my Note 3 in order to have a mobile media player, using the multimedia docking station, a HDMI monitor and a hard drive. I have several Android devices like MK908 stick which accept NTFS formatted drives. My plan was to root the Note 3 and install the Paragon NTFS driver. Now I had to learn that this will trigger the eFuse circuit, and I will loose my warranty. But since this was the biggest reason to switch from Note 1 to Note 3, I am still planning to root the Note 3, but prior to that I would like to know if then I will most likely be able to use NTFS formatted hard drives bigger than 32GB (this limit is documented for FAT32 drives in the manual of the Samsung docking station).
Are there any experiences?

I know, but my hard drives are in NTFS formatted, and I do not want to reformat them....
So I am curious if the Paragon NTFS driver will work after rooting the Note 3. If there is no way to mount a NTFS formatted drive, I will not void my warranty by blowing the eFuse...

I have rooted and installed paragon Ntfs. Still not work on NTFS drive.
install Civz rom. it support mounting ntfs drive. work like a charm on my note 3
USB stick plugin for total commander works but it is a paid app. You also have to run it before you plug in the Hdd and are limited to using total commander as a file explorer for NTFS drives....

Tried OTG helper, didn't help... Tried all the NTFS mount apps in the playstore and found USB stick plugin for total commander to be the only thing that works for now....

You need a custom kernel which allows SELinux Permissive.
Then install any NTFS app paragon or USB OTG mounter etc.
NTFS drives will work.

because I don't think writing into NTFS drives will work.
For normal reading NTFS drives nexus media importer also works fine.
I'm thinking to do similar setup and I agree, loading custom ROM's seems way too much, especially considering other consequences, like lost warranty or in my case loosing WiFi calling, which makes it total No Go. For simple streaming, reading may be all we need, If I want writing, I was thinking to set up secondary partition, FAT32 or exFat to dump files on to. Doing housekeeping chores, like moving files, sorting etc. I would be using my laptop anyhow, which could access everything without restrictions, since Android is way too cumbersome. And just to make sure, there are Win programs, like partition magic, that will let you repartition active drive without loosing data or moving it.
But I must say, it blows my mind how many restrictions Android has without rooting, especially being based on open source.

You are correct you can read but not write to NTFS drives. When I attempt to copy a file to the drive I get an error message that says: Error writing to target file!

In other words we have to make selinux become permissive or disabled?

Hello all.
I have a quick question about using an external hard drive with my nexus 10. I bought a Fantom Drives desktop style external (with power adapter) to use with my macbook air, my girlfriends win7 laptop, and my nexus 10. I prepped the tablet by rooting it and installing StickMount because I read that was the only way to write to usb storage.
When I plug up the external with my usbOTG cable, it recognizes it and it shows up in Androzip, but none of the files that I put on it from windows show up, and also it will not let me write to it from the tablet either. When I try to write to it (a very small photo), it says "Could not move folder due to system restrictions". I have tried reading and writing to the drive from the tablet with it formatted in NTFS and also with it formatted in exFAT.
Am I just out of luck and the drive will not work with my nexus, or are there any other troubleshooting options I can try? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Try converting the drive to fat32. It should read and write well then!

Unfortunately wont FAT32 cap at 4gb? Also, forgive my ignorance but what can I do to format it in FAT32 because my only format options in windows were exFAT and NTFS.

got it to work!! used the Verbatim fat32 format tool. It recognizes all 2 terabytes of space and reads and writes on the nexus 10. Thanks so much for the help!! Very pleased to be able to use my new external with the tablet. Now I just have to play the waiting game for my new Macbook Air to show up

Nothing at all! The downside of fat32 is that indeed there is a limit for the size of an individual file. You can't write files bigger than 4gb. Also if you try a custom kernel with ntfs support you will be able to read from ntfs but not surely write..!

You can sometimes do NTFS-write. It's not unheard of. The downsides of FAT32 are also a lot worse than what you described: it's significantly more prone to corruption and doesn't handle unexpected ejections nearly as well because it's not journalled, and has no support at all for permissions. But for performance and convenience reasons, it really can't be beat at the moment.

I can write and read with my note 2. However i tried with stock kernel ntfs and nothing happens. I think that in terms of speed ntfs is also faster.

It doesn't appear to recognize it on mine. I tried a Sandisk Ultra 32GB that I've used on my Samsung TV, and it couldn't handle it. It could handle FAT32 on a Sandisk Cruzer using the same OTG adapter.
Disappointing if you want to access large files. I'm going to try ext3 next.

I formated it on my Linux system, and it does read ext2, if you have that available. If you need large files, then that would be one solution. Maybe you can install NTFS-3G support, which is what Linux uses.

That's good to know for those that use windows. For Linux, which I use, it would take some work to get it, whereas ext2 is standard, stable, and works.
Perhaps F2FS (Flash Friendly File System, from Samsung) would be another possibility, although I don't know if it's available at all.
Hi guys, if you want NTFS support on your LG G2 all you have to do is install Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+.
Googled for G2 OTG NTFS support, came in here, tried Paragon and came back to tell you it worked flawlesly with my NTFS 1tb 2,5" external hdd.

I didn't do anything ..!
My flash drive is ntfs and when i conect it to my phone it appears it connected then there is massage "usb removed safely"

NTFS is not supported. Please reformat it to FAT32.
NTFS can be supported through a mod though.
Android itself has never supported NTFS drives. Only Asus Tranformer devices support NTFS via third party drivers (Because of the USB port.)
Fat32 and exFAT are supported though.
FAT32 only supports files up to a maximum of 4GB. Useless for Semi-HD and Full-HD films.
exFAT supports files up to 16EB (ExaByte) (max file size in exFAT is redundant, since there aren't any drives commercially available over 5TB. Even the collective size of the entire internet is only 5EB.)
My advice, use exFAT.
I think ROM Toolbox comes with driver called Paragon NTFS, that should work with OTG USB NTFS storage, but you need to be rooted. I think this is the only alternate option to reformatting all your external storage to exfat, which may not be practical. Or do it Apple way, transfer data between 2 devices sitting next to each other, half across the globe and back using itunes, I mean cloud, like dropbox.

I have just installed the Android 5.0.1 update AND purchased a 64Gb Sandisk USB/MicroUSB memory stick.
My Nexus 10 can mount the USB stick without any problem and I can see and use all the files on it but because I had to format the USB stick as NTFS all these files are now read only so I cannot delete any files from it nor can I move files from my Nexus 10 to the USB stick.
Does anyone know if there is a way to coax my Nexus 10 to be able to read AND write to my NTFS USB stick/drive?

I use the playstore app USB OTG Helper but you will also need to install SELinux Mode Switcher and set that to permissive mode. Despite the USB OTG Helper app displaying an error (-9) when an OTG SD reader is attached it provides the full RW access your looking for. It also provides multiple formats support beyond NTFS. I personally use Linux ext4 on all my SD cards which is also supported. It has an experimental exrFAT support but I've never used it.
There is also Stickmount but I prefer the way USB OTG Helper added the external storage to the device. It seemed to integrate with my music player better, that may be personally choice though.

Well I have tried both and whilst both seem to mount my USB drive and both seem to acknowledge it is mounted, when I try to delete a file which is on the USB drive using ES File Explorer I get the error message of "unsupported operation"!?
If either of the pro versions have something that the free version does not, that will get USB read/write working I will happily buy pro version but no point if not working
I know it only supports FAT32, but until i lost my adapter that came with my Samsung 10 it used to read the ntfs flash no problem, but now says unsupported file structure. I was also using a different flash that was lost with the adapter. I bought the same adapter on ebay but using a different flash. Could that be the problem? Im not rooted, but that didnt matter before. Want to be able to transfer movies over 4GB like i have until this week. Thanks

NTFS is designed for the Microsoft Windows operating systems, not on some Android devices.
You can try to format as exFAT or FAT32. exFAT is same as NTFS.
You can transfer your movies using MTP.

Because Amazon doesn't pay to Microsoft to use NTFS and ExFAT.

but it DID work before. I guess no one can explain how this was possible then and not now. I keep the tablet at work and bring flash drives to transfer movies. Wanted to be able to transfer movies over 4 gig, but guess ive lost the ability to do that now.
You could try exFAT/NTFS for USB by Paragon. Maybe that can read the drive
