[Request] Can someone please dump MF3 system components - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I managed to get the ATT update files and restore the bootloader, but I have no system to boot into, nor do I have recovery image. Needs to be able to be pushed via odin or heimdall.

Is it possible to restore specific files/folders through Odin or Heimdall? I'm in a similar situation and am trying to restore /system/build.prop or /system/apps back to original through Odin mode or flashing in stock recovery.
I would be interested in seeing how this works out for you. Good Luck!

Nope. At this time not possible.

It might...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2378946
Will give it a try when I get home from work.

That is a custom ROM made from MF3. It has had the files removed that blow the qfuse. As of right now, we cannot flash anything to any device that either was updated to or came with MF3 via Odin or heimdall.

Check out the fix for Kies thread in General. If you indeed have an intact MF3 bootloader on your phone the "fix' in that thread might get your system back for you, but you'll just have to read the thread and decide if you want to try it for yourself. Good luck.

I swapped out the phone for a refurb

[Q] On MF3, want to go back to stock

Was originally rooted, but I took the MF3 OTA update and, basically, I want to go "back" so I can try my luck at custom ROMs.
Long ago, before the first OTA update, I used the method found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261573
and it worked fine. Will there be a problem doing this again even if I now running the MF3?
My plan is to go back to stock, completely stock, then root and try some custom ROMs.
Is this possible?
You can't go back--sorry
Look thru the Q&A Section for MF3 threads and read up on it and progress

Nope, nothing you can do on MF3 at this time except root. I can tell you haven't read the available information about this, so I will suggest you go to the 'general" section and read the "pinned" threads. Q&A has some pinned threads that you need to read as well. Also read anything having to do with MF3 before you brick your phone. There is a method in development that might be a partial solution for people on MF3, but it's still in the works. There is more information about that in the "General" section as well. Good luck.
Wow, glad I asked!
I will go to the "general" section and read-up
Thank you very much
:good:
you will find quite a bit of info there--
Sorry that you see the same post from me everywhere but this needs to be said EVERYWHERE
On July 26, 2010, the United States Copyright Office announced a new exemption making it officially legal to root a device
The US government is ok with it so whats AT&T's problem ?!?!?!?

While that is completely true, it is not necessary in this thread. This thread is not a discussion on why the providers are trying to stop us from rooting our devices. This Is a help thread asking about going back to stock on MF3. They are 2 completely different topics. Please try to maintain the topic of discussion on any thread you stumble into. If you have trouble doing so, remember the rules.

That's exactly what I've been looking into as well. Just going back to stock. Even if it's MF3. Will there be any consequences if factory reset back to stock. I've been checking the threads and there is no definitive answer. Can anyone help.
There is no way to return to stock at this time.

@graydiggy do you know if on mf3, if you do a factory reset in the stock recovery will it reset your apps like you would normally expect from a factory reset? I don't have an i337 so I don't know what will happen.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I957 using xda app-developers app
If you don't have a I337,you are not on MF3.
What is expected is that it removes root and returns the device to factory settings. What has happened is that it has bricked the device in certain instances, on MF3.

[Q] Couple questions I have about rooting MK2

I am sorry if these questions have been asked before but I couldn't find the particular answers that I wanted. Please pardon me if any of these questions are noob questions.
1.) Are there MK2 TAR files that I can download just in case I mess something up and need to flash back using ODIN?
2.) I know that MF3 made it impossible to downgrade back to MDL, but if I have the MF3 TAR files (which I do) can I at least downgrade from
MK2 to MF3?
3 (Optional).) What ROMs work with rooted MK2? Is there some sort of list? Or do the ROMs that worked with MF3 work with MK2?
Thank you for all of your answers. Again I am sorry if some/all of these questions have been asked and/or answered before. I have been searching for the answers on many forums for the past two days and couldn't find someone who asked the same questions. I am also sorry if any of these are noob questions. I just started getting into rooting of the S4 in early November and I know that I still have a lot to learn.
1: yes
2: no
3: there is SS 1.70. It is in beta and is hit and miss. No list of ROMs. You cannot install a custom recovery of custom ROMs.

Thanks for taking the time out and giving straight answers. I have one more question though: Do you by any chance know the download link to the MK2 TAR files?
It is located in the general section. Also, SS has been updated to 1.71. Still in beta.

I am sorry but I can't find the TAR files for it. All I can find is the recovery.img and the thread says no ODIN. I am really sorry for being a noob but I can't seem to find it.
Use this. http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319196595
Place it on The SD card. And go to the stock recovery to flash.

Thanks a lot! Is there a way to flash with ODIN yet though just in case I am stuck in a boot loop and I can't reach the stock recovery because I have been in that position before when I was in MF3 and I had to use ODIN. If there isn't that's fine, I'll just be extra careful. Thank you for all your help and this is my last question.
Not that I know of.

[Q] Noob problems with my I337

Hi everyone, I have been a fan of the xda website for a long time and you guys have always helped me solve my problems with my phones.
This is the first time I need something that I havenĀ“t been able to find. Forgive me if it is already answered but I cannot find it.
Basically my problem is that I was trying to rom my phone for the first time and it failed.... miserably. I did not brick my phone; it still works, starts up and functions normally except for a few key things: a few programs do not function any more, most notably the wifi, contacts and dialer app, the lock screen widgets and some others.
What I did was installed safestrap, then downloaded the gravitron rom. I put everything in the right place, created the extra rom slot, then is where the noob came in. I forgot to switch over to the rom slot and instead installed over the main rom... Wow much noob, right?
Anyway, what I want to know is if there is any way to salvage my phone? I am on baseband mf3 and with the research I have done, I have concluded I am screwed until odin files for mf3 come out. But if there is any way I can get my phone back to normal I would appreciate it so very much.
Thank you all in advance for your help. I apologize if i have left anything out but I will give any info on request.
No love for the guy with busted wi-fi?
Please help me! I'm killing my data plan... and it's really annoying to not be able to use my dialer or contacts.

Sounds like you're on mf3 firmware? If so, I'd flash that firmware and start over. Google mf3 tar files xda
If on MF3 you will need to flash the modules provided in the development thread. If on MK2, you will need to manually place them because there is no flashable modules yet AFAIK. No need to start from scratch unless you want it back to complete stock.

I am on mf3 baseband, i forgot to add that to the op.
I have tried flashing them with odin already, it instantly fails. Though I did it again just now to be sure with the same results.
Any other suggestions?
You don't flash the modules in Odin... You flash them in the SS recovery.

How would I go about doing that? I have tried copying the jellybean folder from the mf3 tar files on to my phone and going to install in SafeStrap, but I cannot install them as they dont even appear. Should I be going to a different place to install?
The modules are in the SS development thread. It is a zip file.

Ahhh fantastic, you're a lifesaver! My wifi works now! Woot!
So now, is there any way I can get my phone back to stock? because my calendar and my dialer and contacts still don't work for me...
I think something happened when i installed the rom over my stock rom. whoops.

Ok that's the one I was trying to do but it fails instantly. I downloaded the mf3 tar files from xda, loaded them up like the thread suggested, put the phone into recovery mode but it instantly fails.
Any thoughts on why?
Drivers, USB port, cable. My money is on drivers though. Check all three.

Recovery on a rooted S4

What is the best way to recover system files on a rooted Galaxy S4 running MK2 android 4.3? I had corrupted or deleted some system files on an accident and now its not functioning correctly. Keep getting process errors. Restoring backups don't help either. Please help!!!

Thanks, that was helpful! Why don't you just ignore my question if you have no answer?:cyclops:
Seriously you'll find your answer if you search. Noone here HAS to help you. There are plenty of forums on here that list what baseband versions have what type of recoveries. It's not that difficult they're all over the Q&A or general. But to answer your questions it's safestrap. That's the only recovery you can have.

If you've deleted system files your going to have to use odin and start all over.

SGH I337 MK2 stuck in odin mode PLEASE HELP

I recently rooted my S4, everything seemed like it was working just fine. Here is where it all fell apart.
1) I chose to reboot into recovery mode from the Goomanager
2) Phone rebooted into Odin Mode
3) Cannot boot regularly and nothing I have tried can get me out of Odin Mode.
I used Kingo android root to root my phone.
Im dieing please help me
You can't put on a custom recovery on mk2. You're going to have to Odin the mk2 tar file to recover your device
