Is the touch working in that area otherwise? Try turning the phone into landscape and in a game or something and touch there and see if the phone is responding.
Have you made modifications to your phone? If not then a factory reset would be my way to go.
Factory reset seems to be the only way and that too through recovery.
i am also facing same issue
try TWRP (if you have it) Clear Dalvik-Cache, Cache and Try to back up all the internal memory data then boot and wait the optimization apps. i hope it helps you . srry my bad english
TWRP (Recovery)
Same issue, my solution:
Go to settings>users> select guest
After "guest" login, notification bar and USB connection will start to work again, then return to "owner". Now, you can make your backup. "Reset phone" remains grey and isn't possible reset system, use power button and vol- to enter fastboot to make a factory reset. Only after that the phone will work fine again!
Good luck!
the button is broken and unfixable, Im stuck on "do not disturb"
i already try to use some apps to change the status to vibrate/silent and... nothing ... :/ still show "dnd"
any tips to solve this problem ?
tnx

Hello everyone, after rooting my phone I tried to edit the build prop file using the app.
I wanted to disable virtual keys but after reboot phone says factory reset and reboot itself.
Anyway to fix this please?
I've also tried apps that supposed to hide nav bar but they do it for a second and than the nav bar comes back
Hey there guys, my zenfone 5 runs on android kitkat and the build number is T00j_WW_user_2.21.40.44.
One day my phone hanged and then restarted, but afterwards i noticed that the wallpaper was gone, the home button and recent button doesn't work. I can't see the notification bar or pull down the notification panel. I realized it was a kitkat problem, probably the systemui. So I decided to do the following:
Since I reset the device a few times, the problem still occurs. Also I don't get any pop-ups for incoming notification such as messages or phone calls. So factory resetting didn't do. I thought of rooting the phone and flashing a new rom.
But i couldn't get the device to authorize (since the pop-up after connecting the phone to the PC doesn't come) so I cannot root the device. I cannot access the recovery. I cannot flash TWRP. The device shows up as "unauthorized" in cmd in adb. I tried the ADB command but that doesn't work as well.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Hello, thanks for replying. I've tried going into recovery mode but there is no words written underneath the lying android icon. In my phone's recovery there is only the lying android with a red-triangle symbol. I've tried using the volume buttons but it doesn't work.
