Phone keeps restarting - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
So my phone keeps restarting its self, sometimes it does it 2 times in 10 mins and sometimes not for a couple of hours.
I have flashed 2 different roms with complete wipes (wipe data factory reset/ cache/ dalvik and system) and the only thing i have restored from titanuim is apps + app data.
Never had this kind of issue with my s2 or s3 and none upto now with my s4.
Any ideas what it could be or what i have to do?
Appreciate any feedback, thanks.

No one can help?!
When i said i have flashed 2 roms i meant i had the issue suddenly and have flashed to different roms since the issue started and still its the same.
So im guessing its not rom related?

Don't do the restore.
Re-install all your apps and see what happens then.

Help! Stuck on "Starting Applications" during boot!

My issue is this -- my phone will be running fine for days, even weeks, and will then spontaneously reboot. The phone will then get stuck on the Android "Starting Applications" step and never get any further. I've attempted to wipe cache and Dalvik, and even gone so far as to re-flash the ROM I happen to be running at the time.
This has happened to me at least a half dozen times, and it's starting to frustrate me. I've had this issue with at least 4 different ROMS, including CM 10.1, PA, AOKP, and at least one mixed feature ROM. The only solution I've found at this point is to do a factory reset and system wipe and start from scratch.
Any suggestions on what I might try next time? I'm really at a loss.
dont wipe or clear data after you flash a rom. flash rom and if it installs correctly then clear the cache and thats it. then let it reboot
i used to get stuck in that same screen, but thats because i was clearing data after i had flashed a rom. hopefully that helps
Had this issue. Do a stock flash with the toolkit

go to recovery, do a factory data reset.

Cyanogenmod 10.1 Rebooting Issue

Hi, I bought my GS4 two days ago and immediately rooted it via the motochopper method, and then installed ClockworkMod via the loki method. I then installed the then latest nightly (cm-10.1-20130530-NIGHTLY).
Now I understand that nightlies come with no promises of work, but I was just wondering if anyone else was experiencing a rebooting problem on their device. Mine reboots randomly, and often. Multiple times a day. On two occasions it has gotten itself into a reboot loop (starts rebooting, gets to the lock screen, and immediately starts rebooting), in which i needed to pull the battery. Still having the same issue on the May 31st build.
I'm just hoping that someone else has this issue, other then just me. Any ideas to fix it would be amazing!
Use a touchwiz rom, problem solved.
CM is nice for sure but, it seems to always be broken.
Fixed!!
After dealing with the issue for a few more days, it continued to get worse. I could no longer uninstall apps (every time I did it would reboot), and it became more frequent, even with updating to the most recent nightly every day.
I finally got fed up with it today. I did a complete wipe of data, cache, and dalvik cache, and reinstalled the latest nightly (cm-10.1-20130530-NIGHTLY). After installing gapps i turned it on and am no longer experiencing any issues!!! Even after i reinstalled all of my apps and restored the data using titanium. Hopefully it has fixed it completely, only time will tell over the next few days.

Galaxy Note 4 SM-N910W8 sudden lag/freezes/restart

Hello, I've been using TEKXodus N4 Rom for my Canadian (Global Live Wind) on my Note 4 running 5.1.1 for about 4 months now. I have not experienced any problem with the rom until 3 days ago. My phone would just freeze for a good 10-20 seconds randomly when I open apps, surf the web, etc. It started when I was using snapchat and I though I had too much friends (around 80) on my snapchat that it would freeze when I load my friends stories but it seems it's not just the app. I tried clearing cache but it did not fix anything. It was so bad that I couldn't bear to use my phone. I finally decided to flash to stock 4.4.4 kitkat and 5.0.1 but it seems the lag is still there. I've even had instances where my phone would just restart on it's own and when I turn my phone off it would turn on by itself. I've cleared cache, davlik cache and everything there is to clear and it still freezes. I've even ran into a point I cleared everything including my own OS and was stuck for a day in finding a way to boot up my phone lol. I also forgot to say during that time the only thing I did not clear is the files on my sd card so I wiped my sd card as well and it still didn't do lick. I've led to believe that I may have a virus or that my phone hardware is fried. If there is anyone who could help me I'd be grateful...
I also had a problem after I installed a stock 5.0.1 where I couldn't update my phone because it said I don't have enough storage space and I know for a fact I have 24gb free space..

Freezing and rebooting

Classic "my phone keeps freezing and rebooting". I am quite in the know about flashing roms and such.
It started on the stock firmware 6.1.1 (i think it was). I dd factory resets, cache wipes the lot. It would still randomly reboot.
So i flashed Telstra version of 7.0. Still froze every now and then. Did the same things as above.
Flashed TWRP and wiped everything, flashed Renovate Rom and the bootloader for it, Still did it. Numerus factory resets and wipes of everything. It would freeze at any point from startup, to having setup the phone and making phone calls or on facebook or whatever. It would even freeze in twrp, or loading twrp.
I found that the data partition was corrupt so i re partitioned to ext4. Still nothing. I reformatted every partition so the phone was a complete brick with nothing on it and after flashing clean again it would still do it.
Whats the issue that I'm missing, or is there a way to log so i can find where it keeps getting stuck? It gets hot and blue light flashes and i have to hard reset it or sometimes i have to let the battery drain so i can turn it back on again.
pls help?
Hmm i will give you an advice so you dont have to wait for your battery to drain...just press volume down and power button for like 5 secs and phone will force boot. Anyway back to your problem...did you tried flashing latest stock samsung firmware?

This advice doesn't work with my phone even with holding the buttons for 30 secs and more. For rebooting I can only wait until the battery is completely drained. With little hope for another way shortening time to the next reboot any help is appreciated.
Same here...experiencing the same prob...
Same problem.

Sounds like you need your motherboard replaced i had the same issues on marshmallow thought the nougat update would fix it but realized it was a hardware fault not software..left it in store to get fixed and on repair sheet it said faulty motherboard..

As i know some S7 have motherboard hardware problem, mine has too, what help? warranty and they replaced motherboard. But if you root, you can say good bye to warranty, they look at knox first with this problem.

Touch screen not working - fixed twice after multiple factory data resets

Hello. I have a recurring issue with a 6P I bought for my daughter. Twice her screen has stopped responding to taps or presses. The problem persists even after a factory reset. The first time, I fixed it by wiping the cache partition in stock recovery after the factory reset (I know, makes no sense, since the cache partition gets wiped during a factory reset). The second time it happened, I had to factory reset and wipe the cache independently 2-3 times, and luckily it started working again. I'm not sure whether the resets or wiping the cache did anything, or if just restarting the phone multiple times is what fixed it. Either way, I don't want to buy another phone for her if I can figure out what's happening with this one.
Her phone is a Google Nexus 6P, stock everything. Unrooted & locked.
Note: After happening the first time, and finally getting it to respond, I set her phone up from a cloud backup. This time, I set it up as new. I really don't see how it would matter, as the problem persisted after a reset, before setting up the phone again. I guess I'm leaning on multiple reboots solving the problem, but just don't know.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
