Hello,
My carrier has a very long name (Bouygues Telecom), which takes a lot of place in the notification Bar.
Therefore, as soon as I have more than 3 notifications icons, it gets overloaded
Is there a way to remove the carrier name from the notification Bar ?
I checked the build.prop, but didn't seem to find something related (I'm on clean ROM for AT&T 1.1).
Thanks in advance.

well you need to modify the status bar appearance. if you are familiar with that, you may follow this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1422116
else you may also request your rom creator to do it for you. this is a bug
Can I know which Rom do you use?
Generally in the system settings there must be some kind of UI tweak, try enabling the clock visibility from there.
If it still wont work then it must be a bug.
Like with G3 tweaksbox you can change all kinds of things like colors of status bar icons like the battery, signal strength, wifi, data, etc. Can change clock position and format and color. Can change led notification colors, and many other things. Anything like this for Galaxy phones/touch wiz?
Check out my current home screen. Want to duplicate this on the edge s7. Is it possible?

Not yet, need root and xposed on the edge S7
Right, but when that happens, what is used to change these things? What app and module?

It is not easy to find stuff on this. All I found was themes for Touchwiz and gravity box but not sure if gravity box is compatible, assuming the s7 edge is rooted. Could someone please give me a name of the app or module. Not sure why it has to be so secret. Assuming you know the answer, why not just help me? Very frustrating when I see people on here refuse to help and instead tell people to search the thread or whatever.
Edit: Also, it appears the nav bar buttons are actually hardware capacitive buttons. I'm assuming that there is no way to change their colors nor add buttons. Coming from a LG G3 that has software nav buttons so not sure how customizable samsung galaxy phones can be. This is a huge factor for me and any input on my questions would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of XPOSED Widgets - some work some don't -
Gravity Box MM - XBLAST - Wanam Exposed - all have varying degrees of success with changing colors on Status Bar icons - there is another one - I forget the name - Android Theme Xposed or something like that - not sure if they all have been brought up to Marshmallow yet or not but many worked beautifully on Lollipop - in time they and others will show up for Marshmallow.
Search thru the Xposed Repository - and you are sure to find some nice ones...
There are and have been a number of ROMS that gave that kind of control -
AraMod on the Note 5, Hyperdrive on the Note 5, Alliance Framework on the Note 4 and S6) all have that capability - it is only a matter of time until they or someone like them develops for the S7 - at Least I hope so -
You'll certainly need to root and try one of the xposed modules available. There are several custom roms that allow you to do this was well.
The best one i could find and i use is "Flat Style Colored Bars", with tons of customizations.
Flat Style Colored Bar Indicators
Flat Style keyboard (with Google keyboard)
PerfectColorBars
And ur set. Dno why everyone made that so hard
Hey all, not sure if you guys can answer this but I need help with something. I got a Huawei Ascend XT recently and for a GoPhone, this thing is pretty damn awesome. Only issue I have is the notifications. I have a custom SMS messaging app I like to use and I set up different pictures or icons for different people. Yet, whenever I receive a message from them, I get the default icon instead of the one I set up. It's like the phone is overriding what I set up. Does anyone know of a way to get rid of the notification settings or to disable it so it doesn't only show default icons? I messed with it in settings but it doesn't help.
Thanks in advance

To the best of my understanding, default notification icons are pre set by EMUI. they either use its own version of an app icon or the default on that came packaged with that app. nobody has figured out how (or at least shared that they figured it out) to change this action. it should be taken as a permanent part of EMUI and can only be avoided by installing a custom rom that does not use system wide themeing to the extend that Huawei does. i hope I have answered your question.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I cant do a customer ROM yet as I havent rooted the device yet. Is there any way of disabling just that part of the EMUI? Anyone??
You can disable all notifications for each specific app . Does that help?

Unfortunately no, that just disables the entire app. This is the only thing about the phone I dont like.
You are not supposed to be disabling the entire app, just its notifications .

Hi all,
A newbie question to the Android experts. I have read in many forums that a rooted device is needed in order to change and/or customize status bar icons. However, Samsung Good Lock app was able to do this on an un-rooted device. Good Lock app provided AOSP status bar icons and I loved it. The stock Samsung network and WiFI icons are super hard to see and quite frankly ugly. The wifi icon is half the size because of the ridiculous up/down arrows underneath the icon.
I have been looking for a replacement app like Good Lock but no luck. I tried Status and Material Status apps but they are buggy and don't work all the time. More over, they render another status bar on top of an existing one.
How was Good Lock app able to do this on a non-rooted device? I presume it was able to replace the SystemUI?What does it take to build an app like Good Lock? Anyone knows how it was accomplished or if it's possible?
Thanks for your time.
Hey Guys! I own a T-Mobile G955U which is rooted and I thought that the T-Mobile 4GLTE indicator looked ugly as hell so I searched around a bit and found out you can change it to any other carriers style (You can do this even one Exynos models) or you can remove it completely and have the normal Samsung LTE and 4G icon.
This does require root and basic knowledge of system and csc files so be prepared.
The file we're looking for is in "/system/omc/TMB"
Your folder structure in /omc might looks different, if you see a ton of folders with 3 letter names, you have a Multi CSC installed and have to go into the folder with your active CSC name on it (TMB for me).
Once you're in your active CSC's folder, look for a file called "cscfeature.xml", open this with a good text editor (I like Solid explorer built in one)
Now you can add lines for different icons or remove them.
If you have a US carrier phone, look for these two lines:
Code:
<CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigOpBrandingForDataIndicator>[B][U]TMB[/U][/B]</CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigOpBrandingForDataIndicator>
<CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigOpBrandingForIndicatorIcon>[B][U]TMB[/U][/B]</CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigOpBrandingForIndicatorIcon>
The bold and underlined "TMB" is the branding of your indicator icon. You can change this to other carrier codes to make it look like their version.
Examples:
VZW - Verizon
SPR - Sprint
TMB - T-Mobile
ATT - AT&T
etc...
You only have to change those lines if you want another carriers icons, if you want the default Samsung icons then delete both lines from the file.
Now after deleting, you will have default 4G and 4G+ icons.
If you want it to say LTE instead of 4G, add this line to the end of the file before the "</FeatureSet>" line:
Code:
<CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigOverrideDataIcon>LTE</CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigOverrideDataIcon>
Remeber: I'm not responsible if you **** your **** up, just posting my findings since I've been looking everywhere for a way to change this.
Also to make it more clear, you can also get the US carrier icons the Exynos model, all the icons are included even in the Exynos SystemUI.apk
What CSC would I put if I want to use International icons. It's for a theme

Remove the two lines like I said in OP, that way it's stock international and it says 4G or 4G+. If you want it to say LTE, add the last line I mentioned in OP.
EDIT: This doesn't change your CSC, it modifies your current one to show different data indicator icons.

Are you referring to the signal bar or data indicator? This changes the indicator only.
I believe if you want to change the signal bar, you have to remove this line:
Code:
<CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigMaxRssiLevel>5</CscFeature_SystemUI_ConfigMaxRssiLevel>
No direct idea why but the Verizon LTE icon has my heart lol thanks for this!

It changes back to the stock/internation 4 bar indicator. The US models have a 5 bar indicator.
Or if you want the 5 bar indicator you can add that line.
How to change?
This can be easily changed with a substratum theme FYI. Doesnt even need root.
Checkout "ststusbar themes for samsung" on play store.
mine is encrypted any solutions for this?
Apparently this file is encrypted in Oreo. I've been looking for ways to edit this without using Andromeda and I believe I'm running out of options.
Also, I just noticed that this thread is for rooted phones. I'm not rooted (company phone) so maybe Andromeda is my only option.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
