Flashing this as soon as I get home!
Thanks!
Edit:
Ok, so I've tried this rom out now. It's exciting to have something new to play with on this tab. haven't been running it for long.. just looked through (adjusted) some settings/ set up halo and notifications ribbon and what not. played some games (Words with friends--cause i'm an addict/ minion rush--aka despicable me). The games dropped frames... even the WWF animations.
it's all very good and your efforts are greatly appreciated.
i wanna be clear that i'm not in any way complaining. only reporting back a little. overall the rom is sluggish for now. so not a daily driver. but again very exited to have something new in development. and i know already that once you've figured everything out this will be a great rom to have. wish you had source already cause judging by what you've done without it, i know it'll be awesome.
Netflix opens, but would not play-- don't know what it's got to do with but it's just one of the issues i encountered.
and... no keyboard. I fired up XDA to add this comment, and there was no keyboard.
OK.. keep up the good work!
cheers.
Edit 2: so I began to suspect that much of what I was experiencing might have been due to the fact that I'd done a dirty flash. So do a clean install folks.
So I did a factory reset' and sure enough everything is running much much better.

ROM is running awesome. BTW the boot screen goes dark for about a minute. This is normal.

I have to say many thanks for this rom, it feels 100x better then the stock rom, even with the little kinks can ony get better.
again thank you very much for all your hard work and efforts.

Always wipe everything when moving from one version of android to another
always wipe everything before reporting bugs in a Dev thread

also mayb a small request, but is possible change huild.prop so the device is recognized as nexus 7.
my computer doesn't seem to pick up the device but it was fine when I used sero's rom.
thank you.

Request denied set up adb properly unless you are saying ums isn't working in windows? I will test on my wife's windows box I run Linux exclusively and it works there, in settings storage menu there are USB connection options you can try if you are having issues.
Thanks for all the feedback guys keep it coming I'll be working on cam today

Alright I have found some odd issues with audio on the 10/8 build. Sometimes I'd get either no audio on some apps (ie: Al Jazeera English Tablet) or really high pitch audio (ie: MLS Match Day). I posted a logcat which I do apologize for its size but I do hope it helps with figuring out what is going on. From what I noticed it seems like both apps are playing the video through Gallery or at least some kind of variant of Gallery if that helps any.

USB for device storage not working in windows but when I change it camera storage it does detect the camera connection.
Also not able to get nexus importer working. Doesn't detect my otg flash drive properly. Nexus importer shows some error message for 4.3
Thank you. Hopefully a easy fix.
By again thank you for your hard work.

usb otg doesn't work in the stock rom because of a kernel incompatibility since I'm using the same kernel it will not work on this rom either.

One more reason why we all need to continue to express our frustration with Hisense for not releasing the kernel source!
Sent from my Sero 7 Pro using Tapatalk 4

was trying to get this kernel to load a spoofed module but it isn't being agreeable first I can't export the symbols via a Module.symvers file then even after I got the release name to match the module it decides to play coy by saying it can't find the module when it is there in the path and I can copy it delete it rename it etc rawr I want kernel source

Awesome job buddy, glad to see some life breathed into this great little device. I look fwd to the updates and best of luck to you.

Thanks for the ROM and most of all the hard work.:victory:

Had to delete NfcNci.apk as it (NFC) was draining my battery like mad.

Can anyone confirm or deny whether or not HDMI out is working on this rom?
Thanks!

Really liking CM10.2 on this. Is snappier, better battery and now able to do separate user accounts. Conduit Tegra 3 game also works, which didn't with other custom ROM. No camera or NFC but I don't use those on tablet anyway. Essentially performs nearly same as first N7 but with much louder speaker.
One thing I noticed is that Battery listing shows a bluetooth process as 2nd highest process eating battery (behind Display) even though BT not turned on, yet battery life is not bad.

ICS a place to chat

Ok I thought I would start a page for everyone trying out the new beloved ICS alpha roms to talk. This way the developers can work and their pages stay clean.
I have installed the latest preview 1 plus the zip labled as hardware acceleration. plus the inivisable tweaks. This thing is running like a champ now. the keyboard is responsive. I turned off the animations and forced the 2d gpu settings. I also have v6 supercharger installed. Been running for almost 4 hours without any random reboots. 3d games will suck but the 2d ones are running good.

Preview 4
What I have found that works
sms
wifi
1x
3g
Bluetooth
calls
gallery
hardware acceleration
gps
sound
moms
headphones
What does not work or work correctly
camera
4g (not that it will ever work for me Cricket does not support it)
this is all I have had time to test.
I would like to thank all the developers for all their had work. This is great so far!!

Seems like people keep having hissy fits in the development thread.
But anyway, I'm excited to get proper HA and headphone port fixed, when that happens, this will be my daily.
I use Netflix too often to live without using headphones.
There's been great progress so far though. I popped over the Epic 4G Touch thread and they're nowhere near as close to getting a workable ICS like we are, just makes me happy I didn't upgrade to the Touch, I was very close to it.
man i posted a long post pertaining to getting email to properly work on the preview in the thread where they were ranting about the ics thread being locked and a min later the thread is gone ha should have copied it to a .txt document... o well ill write it out again
aside from everything already listed as working or not working..
market now lets you download and install which didnt work in A5
I had issues getting my exchange server at work and my phone to work.
The process i went through to get this to work was:
reboot into recovery
wipe data/reset to factory
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache
Flash ROM
Flash hw_eccel
Flash uninvisibletweaks
Reboot phone
Then i setup all the incoming server configuration settings and connected finally everything is syncing
Rebooted into recovery
Flashed GAPPS for ICS
Rebooted and was good to go
On my second day of daily use and cannot believe how well this is running. No reboots. My only dislike is the lack of buttons in the notification bar. I can't wait for a beta version to be released. Having the camera working would be awesome. I want the lock screen that recognizes my face! That would be super cool.
Evo 4g on Cricket.
anybody having issues getting the home key to work? when i flashed a4 for the first time, i didnt have it working, then after a i wiped it and tried a few times i got it working...now on the latest update i havent been able to get it to work no matter how many times i try
I have had no issues with it so far, but as we know not all evos are created equal. The next release is due out later tonight or tomorrow. Headphones will be working along with a few other things. They are testing a new kernel. Will post more as it becomes available. Till then have fun with your new play toy!
Evo 4g on Cricket.
Preview 3 ics is out. Headphones now working and hardware acceleration is a go!

I've been running Preview 3 all day, pretty awesome, way faster than all the previous releases
Well I just got preview 3 installed and must say it is great! Although I was wrong about the headphones they still don't work but the gallery does. Preview 4 is scheduled to be released tonight and headphones and mms is claimed to be fixed.
ICS evo 4g on cricket
Preview 4 got released earlier, can't try it right not but might later, btw, the download links are here: http://infectedrom.com/showthread.php/632-EVO-4g-Ice-Cream-Sandwich-from-source
Seems headphones are fixed, i still can't wait for proper HA to be implemented though, but the development has been going very speedy.
I have installed preview 4. Gallery is working along with the headphones. I had some issues with the browser closing immediately after opening but a couple of reboots later and it worked fine. Also a few display anomalies in landscape view but nothing consistent. Google is now syncing my apps. Still no camera yet but its on the way soon. Mms will send and receive! 3d games I use are working but are little bit slow yet usable. Newest version of script manager does work and so does v6 supercharger.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I can confirm that if you wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache, you can flash P4 over P3 with no ill effects.
Preview 4 is good enough that I am now using it as a daily rom. But it has some weird issues, like after awhile apps won't open. They open then close right away, like the browser problem in the post above me. Hmm...ctually it may be that I have to close some apps from the multitask menu. I just thought about that idea. lol.
And the screen has a hard time coming on. But besides the obvious it's working great.
Did a benchmark test on this rom and it is right in line with the scores I got using cm7.

Ive been running the ICS P4 since last night and am loving it! Its butter smooth and I've only ran into a few snags. The primary being my home button isn't working and neither is flash. I'll try reflashing to see if i cant get the home button to work. These guys have done some amazing work! (Post 1 of 10, damn developers restriction)
Im having some problems with my ICS flash. The phone is flashed fine, did a minimal data, cache, & dalvik cache wipe but when flashed & running the menus a laggish on mine. But when loaded into an app it runs quickly. My market is all jacked up not allowing me to download some things, as i know some apps arent compatible. Help?
Second day on preview 4 with only one reboot. While using the xda app it froze and rebooted. Most of my apps work but I had to update a few to get them working. My gps is good within 15 ft. No sluggish menus but I also did a full wipe of everything. Market downloads have also not been an issue for me either. I am using the gapps listed as preferred. On the ics keyboard I can't get all caps to stay on, but I use SwiftKey X so it is not even a issue for me. Last night I flashed unvisable tweaks and only made about 3 point difference on the benchmark.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Well just did a full factory wipe then a data wipe & all that biz & got the rom flashed with everything else & the rom is working absolutely awesome! Got no complaints besides my messages not going out if they exceed a certain character limit... Wonder whats wrong? Any fixes?

General Info
It "worked", but don't set your expectations high (read the rest of the bullet points)
No hardware accleration (we knew this already)
I couldn't get a data signal (no 2G/3G), though it did see my AT&T SIM
Preferences/Settings are slim so I couldn't mess with APN settings to try to get data to work
Wifi will now connect (fixed in Build 2)
Couldn't test much at all due to no data connections working
Power button functionality was erratic. This seems to be fixed in Build 2.
Keyboard was actually very smooth
The OS became smoother after a few reboots, scrolling through windows felt Android 1.6ish, instead of being Windows Mobile 6ish
It shows a LOT of promise
Boots in about 5 seconds, shuts down in 1 second
Pictures of build 3 running on my Nexus S can be found here: http://uberamd.com/post/22200022691/build-3-nexus-s-boot-to-gecko
Changelog
Code:
Build 3:
- Code base from 4-27-2012
- Some tweaks made to get wifi working better (got some pages to load around 4-23-2012)
- Wifi now connects AND loads pages. This means that you can finally utilize the web browser and bundled apps.
Build 2:
- I now made it so the ROM can be flashed via CWM just like any Android ROM
- Code base from 4-12-2012
- Now connects to wireless (pages still won't load, looking into it)
Build 1:
- Initial release
- Restore via CWM "Backup/Restore"
Directions
Ensure you have ClockworkMod on your Nexus S with a unlocked bootloader
Boot into Android
Copy b2g_nexuss_uberamd_signed.zip to your devices SD card
Boot into recovery
(optional) create a backup of your current setup
Flash the b2g ROM
Reboot
Boom, B2G awesomeness
I tested it, and it works. It is a fresh B2G build for the Nexus S
Latest Download - Click Here!
Please do not use any version earlier than 2012-04-13! The earlier version is NOT flashable via CWM (it is a CWM backup archive).
About
These CAN now be flashed like any other Android ROM. Be sure to do a backup within CWM. You can always restore the CWM backup.
This ROM is compiled from official b2g sources, with occasionally modifications sprinkled in by me. Credit goes to those main b2g devs who are making awesome headway here!
These will be built and uploaded daily using the latest sources. The goal of this is to allow people to test B2G without having to setup a Linux build environment as well as download multiple gigabytes of code, and mess with udev. ulimits, and more.
You can follow any updates I have on this thread as well as the boot to gecko section of my website.

In my OP I state that 3G and Wifi also didn't work on the GSM Nexus S. Could be an issue with the current code base. I'm going to do a full rebuild tomorrow and see if it improves.

to add on, the reboot is insanely fast, and i really mean it. shutdown is instant. NOT even almost. Yes instant.
I'm quite impressed of how Boot to Gecko developed since it was announced. Although it has no hw acceleration it performs pretty well when scrolling through wondows. I hope that it will be developed to become something big.
What bothers me is that it wants an internet connection for apps like Cut The Rope - does that mean that it will need a permanent internet connection?
Edit: I tested it for half an hour and it only ate up only 8% of my battery.. wow.

I believe it takes/will-take advantage of HTML caching to store applications offline after they are used once.
And yeah for having no HW acceleration, thus using a lot of CPU, it really was light on the battery. I'll see if the build today fixes anything, it'll be up this afternoon.

I'll test the build this afternoon on my ns4g. hopefully we'll have data working. this is totally necessary for me. great work so far, btw!! I was wondering if we'd be seeing another b2g soon after the last thread was closed for stolen code.
Flashed it just now on my i9023. ignoring the bugs stated in the OP, all I can say is wow!
Even though it doesn't have HW acceleration, it runs pretty well...and almost instant on and INSTANT off...that's awesome!
Wasn't able to make calls or sms, but that'll be fixed at some point.
Really nice! When it's fully completed, I might even consider migrating
Subscribed and downloading. Let's see what happens .

I tried it just now, and I must say it runs decently. It's exactly what I would expect on such an early stage.
I also found out you can access those pages it uses on your regular browser (homescreen.gaiamobile.org, sms.gaiamobile.org for example).
Also, if you long-press home you will get a 'recents' menu.
I'm assuming my i9023 wasn't able to get any signal because the baseband list didn't include the one for ICS.
Maybe you could add it in the next build? it's I9023XXKI1

Then once you are booted into AOKPCB, go to Google Play and download and install the "PCB Blue" theme here: https://play.google....i.theme.pcbblue
Next go to Settings, then Themes, then apply the "System" theme. Now reboot.
Now go back into Settings and then Themes, and tap on "PCB Blue" and apply it. It will give a warning about missing assets, but just ignore the warning.
Now your SystemUI should reboot (your Navigation Bar will disappear then reappear) and you should be themed and good to go! You can reboot if you want, but it isn't necessary.
The Nav Bar buttons may be closer together than usual, but they will still function perfectly and are actually somewhat easier to access. There you go, you are now running AOKPCB at whatever density you want! The devs of AOKPCB are working on fixing non-standard density support, so be patient, they worked hard to get it this far!
This looks great! I'll load it up VERY soon.
Thanks to all involved for all the work

Sorry it took so long to get up, we wanted to wait until R2 to throw some threads up. Thanks for all yall's support! AOKPCB is the jam though.
This is actually a great Rom. The boot song is really good. On my phone I disable any boot sound but on this I'm rockin out every boot!

yeah looks sweeet! Good to see another ROM along with CyanogenMod doing great work on the touch pad!!
I've had some issues with the CM9 nightly builds - Wifi needs resetting and when coming out of sleep, I cannot input anything to unlock the device.
Anyway, thanks peeps!!!! Downloading now! =)
This is awesome, look forward to hooking this up later!! What is the deal with the DPI post, I'm a bit confused. Also any WiFi issues on this ROM?
Anyone try this yet?
If so, please post what is or is not working and any other issues. It looks great, but more interested in functionality. Am currently on classicnerds and it is working pretty good overall (except camera issues and of course no mic - common to all ICS on this I believe).

It's what I run right now Here's the link again to the main AOKPCB site, it has MUCH more info there!
http://pcb.team.broc.co/li/aokpcb/
It has all the functionality of AOKP, but with the theming and some extra goodies that the dev team have cooked in. It's one heck of a ROM.
It all works guys been running this since I first saw it mentioned in the general section and very functional

Hmmm... Have you tried doing a full wipe (Factory Reset and wiping System) and then installing? My wifi worked perfectly on first boot and has been great since then. What ROM are you moving from?
I'm moving from classic nerd and yes I've done a full wipe. I tried to get on wifi after the flash and then I tried using gapps 429 from the link you gave and nothing. What's interesting though is classic nerd is still showing in the boot options even though I'm now running aokp. It didn't seem to fully uninstall even with a data wipe.
I think I need to flash my pad fresh with alpha 2 and then update with aokp. I'm trying that now.

Yeah, I would suggest retrying a full wipe and seeing if that will fix it for ya. If not we'll go from there!
So is gapps number ending in 429 the newest and is it what you guys are using?

(ROM) Abridged for Music

Preeminently, I have always wanted to contribute to the Eris community. This is my first rom, although don't assume I'm adept at this specific criteria. It is based off CyanogenMod, without it this would have never happened. From what I recall, there was a thread that stated a rom should be made for the Eris as music player.
Hence I felt I should contribute since I had leisure time. So I removed all the applications that would intrude to make the Eris a pure mp3 player.
I bring to you the Abridged Rom.
I removed vexing signal bars in the status bar.
It is ICS themed.
Holo launcher, which is surreal to the ICS launcher.
Holo locker, it is relevant to Jelly Bean lock screen.
Battery script by Decad3nce = XDA. To activate, go to Terminal Emulator, type su for superuser permission; then type batt-cfg.
To make the launcher load smoother, press "Menu" then "Launcher Settings", go to "Desktop Settings" then tick "Wallpaper Scrolling" off.
If the Android lock screen intercedes with the Holo Locker application, got to Holo Locker then turn it "off" then "on".
Got the keyboard to work, just got to Settings>Language & Keyboard> Select Language> (choose) English (United States). That's if you prefer that language.

Okay, for some peculiar and vague reason 2shared thrashed my links, they do not work. I have deleted those builds, I have no idea why. Though I have preserved some not all. (I feel ashamed). I will upload them in my Skydrive, thus never having to worry about anything being deleted or any obstructions.
Only this bottom one works

Newest is called HTC Eris Beats 11, I presume, enjoy.
(Now I come to realize that once you sign into Google Play, force closes will concur. Unfortunately up until now I could not fix, it could be evaded by not registering Google Play or if you have registered already then just disable sync in "Settings>Accounts&Sync" I apologize for any inconvenience "
No need to flash gapps.
Just wipe dalvik x3 then wipe data.
Then flash.

Updated the market once again; and a few minor tweaks as well.
Same concept as the predating release.
Enjoy.
Beats column just a modification in the system to have better sound, discrepant from the original Abridged Rom; same base, everything. Just the Beats Audio is irrelevant to the initial.

Just give me a little bit since I accidentally ran the battery into the ground. I want to give it enough charge so it doesn't die half way through boot.
Just giving it a little break in. Not bad.
Although, I seem to have created a slight issue here, where I doubled the lockscreens.

I'm assuming the ICS themed lockscreen runs independently of the normal lockscreens?
EDIT: I figured it out. I missed a line about Holo locker in your instructions.

Actually, this might be a ROM that sticks around on mine for awhile. I do like how you stripped most of the phone functionality out so I don't have all that additional clutter (and possibly saving RAM? I haven't really investigated that). But hey for your first ROM, this seems to working pretty well.

From what I see it does save RAM, which is crucially vital to the Eris, not only that battery durability excrescences dramatically. Which is very desirable for anyone.
I am the guy that wanted a ROM that turned the Eris into a music player. Having attempted to use TheMP3Rom, and found that it doesn't work, I am glad you made this. I am downloading it and trying it now. You have my thanks for making this happen, and I hope that the development cycle on this lasts a while, because even just the thread on that other rom is dead.
Just to clarify, that command for the battery script is "su batt-cfg" and not "su" followed by "batt-cfg" right?
Also, LOVE the boot animation. Best one I've seen. Also also, what version of CM is it based on?
Oh, one more to try on my trusty eris. I should find the beats hacks and post here, would make a fine addition to this Rom. It should work as its generic enough to work on my touchpad.

having ordained this ROM as to what i have perceived it to be, i doth proclaim that this ROM is awesome!! :highfive:
i decided to break out the old eris to use as a spare TiVo remote around the house, and i stumble across this! great job, this is exactly what i needed to bring the eris back into rotation.
certain apps don't seem to be getting proper root access or working with superuser correctly. i don't expect to use the phone for anything other than as a TiVo remote, occasional music player, and spontaneous google searches, so i won't be using many apps that NEED root access... but that's the only "issue" i've come across. great work!

My Tracks
Thanks, Spartan, for a great little ROM! I just pulled the Eris out hoping to revive it as a companion for my bike. Works great for music - sleek & fast - however something is blocking Goggle My Tracks from installing. Not sure what it is...it installs on other GB ROMs. I tried both installing from the market (the app doesn't show up), and by sideloading the APK. No dice. Any help appreciated.

Those mods are for CM9 so you'll have to make the next one CM9 based if that's possible in order to use them.

I'm running it and it's working at least as well as CM9 (wifi working, a bit smoother, ...). There is only one problem : even with the USB plugged in, the battery keeps dropping down !

Not Working: Sound, video acceleration, mic, camera. Overall the rom seems pretty smooth besides the main bugs of course. Make a backup if you flash. Wifi seems to be working fine and the guy in the other thread that said charging was messed up must of had a bad flash or something cause charging works just fine here

Yeah, dont keep it on your TouchPad. Apparently the guy in the other thread left it overnight and woke up to a dead TouchPad. I guess not charging when plugged in is a missing feature in this. Thats why its a preview though. Meant more for flashing it, playing with it for a bit then going back to whatever you had before.

From what I understand, no hardware acceleration (or at least not fully) so things like games/YouTube dont work, no sound, no mic, no camera and I guess it doesnt charge when plugged in. Probably a list of other issues as well.
I was still running into some minor glitches after flashing cm10, so I restored back to the 7/30 nightly, which is running just right for me.
The glitches are minor, and I would probably use this if my 7/30 build wasn't close to perfect.
Again, thanks to the cyanogen guys that have made this possible. I look forward to installing cm10 after a few of the rough edges are taken care off.
Edit : Thanks to Big Simon for getting this thread started - go click the thanks button for him.

Idk man, shaffe.jr, is pretty much confirming my problem. When installing I FDR, formatted system and cache, installed, fixed permissions and booted. Just like I do with all fresh installs. I left it plugged in overnight, because it was showing a charge and I wanted to play with it more in the morning. I woke up with it still on, but showing 0 on battery. I thought that it couldn't be true, because charging symbol was still on. So I unplugged it, as soon as I took it out of the power input, it shut off and is now going through the whole mess of not recognizing charger. I know how to fix that (leave charger in anyways, and allow it to trickle charge slowly for many hours, then immediately boot to CWR).
If anyone else is noticing that problem, please speak up. I don't want this to happen to anyone else!
As far as smoothness, as someone stated in the Q&A, HW acceleration doesn't work. So, you're not going to experience project butter. There's pretty much no point in flashing this yet. I really regret not immediately reverting back to my backup.

For what I've seen , sound, mic and camera are not working. Hardware acceleration is partially working : global UI is a lot smoother, games are no so fast.
Battery seems to be charging : when plugged on AC percentage are going up.
Nevertheless, I will switch back to the last CM9 nightly.

So I was thinking of trying this out just to see what its like. All I do is wipe data, cache and dalvik, flash rom and gapps, then when I want to go back to cm9, restore my nandroid? When I restore my nandroid, do I have to factory reset then restore nandroid? I'm just asking because with my phone, there's more steps when going from one kernel to another. Don't know if that all applies here though.
Edit: never mind. Doing some research. Lol

When I flashed it I did a nandroid backup, formatted the system partition, flashed rom and gapps, wiped dalvik and cache partitions, fixed permissions then rebooted just to see what would happen, it booted no problem and nearly all of my apps ran fine except ICS Browser+ for obvious reasons, then restored backup and everything is working just the way I left it.
BTW I'm using TWRP 2.2.0 recovery which formats the partitions as it restores them, can't remember if CWM does that.

OK. I was watching a video where he used ACMEinstaller. Maybe if I don't want to go that route, I'll try our TWRP. Heard it was pretty nice anyway. I'm not sure if CWR formats partitions either.
Just to be sure, this IS based on the 3.0x kernel, correct?
