Best suitable ROM's and kernels for my nexus 4 - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just a simple question which I would like everyone's opinion on.
Through your experience what has been the best ROM and kernel used on your nexus 4 that provided the best performance, battery life, fluidity, great customizations etc...?!?

these threads are nit allowed on xda. to find your best rom and kernel you have to try them out. our phones all react differently, and all our needs differ, so the only way to get your best rom and kernel you personally have to try them out. you device will let you know which rom/kernel it likes best, and only you have your needs/wants.

Oh really? I didnt know. Thanks for that

ROM Choice? Xylon, Cyanogenmod, Paranoid??

Trying to pick a ROM. They all look good. Any that you recommend? Something without too many stability problems......
A ROM is your personal preference. Other peoples word should influence you. A ROM is like buying a house. It has to feel right for you. Go and test a few. You will find the ROM for you

Not sure what the rules here are, but on the Optimus 2x forum, where I come from, threads like this one are getting closed.
I think you should try some ROMs and stick with the one that works the best for you.
So, which one do you like?

Personally I'm using cm10 but that is totally irrelevant, go have a look at ROMs and see what works for you)

It's not irrelevant!
Which/best/most stable etc ROM threads get closed because it's completely subjective and what's best for one person isn't for others. My advice to everyone wondering is to just flash the ones that meet your needs or try them all, choice is a great thing and the devs provide plenty of it.
Thanks

[Q] Best rom

okay I have the Nexus 7 and I am looking for the best rom the most stable smoothest with tablet mode if available I have tried smoothrom ,paranadroid in on droid but I'm not I'm satisfied so if anybody could recommend a new rom for me and that 1 that's table and frequently updated.sorry voice to text errors

my advice:
take time to read the forum rules, before someone fight you away!
I don't know how much you've used xda but people get really pissed about these posts. My advice is read the rules and watch what you post. But to answer your question (and what the mod will probably say) you have to try different roms because everyone has their own favorites and their opinion on best.

Did not mean anything just asking am new to root and wondering how to choose my own kernel using any ROM without limitations if that is possible some don't work together or am i making a mistake ..sorry again for misleading post.

Asking what the best rom is is like asking what's my favorite food to a random stranger. I would say you go to the Android development or Original development sections because all of the roms are there. Also, it depends on preference really, some roms offer customizability, while others are offering smoothness. Still, it is up to you.
I really like mlaws dirty ROMs they are stable fast and have all the current mods kernels and gapps all in one package.
Read around and see what ROMs have features you find useful try it if you don't like it flash another, but I would at least test it for a day or so .

The best way to find a rom, is to read the Rom threads, and find one that works for you.
Everybody has different opinions, and different roms work better on different devices.
Also, Best Rom threads are Taboo at XDA

What ROM and Kernel are you using? Gamers and daily task users! Tegra 3 Nexus's!!

Just got my Nexus 7, I'm familiar with all the kernels and Roms available. I've downloaded all from the original development thread as well as the newer android thread. For kernels I've used Motley, Franco and the kernel that comes from faux. I'm trying to find a balance between power efficient and no lagging at all. Roms I've used paranoid android, cm10, prime which is better and j18. I'm looking for the best gaming combo, while saving battery. Any suggestions?

I use my 7 primarily for games and for that reason I stick with stock kernel. Some EA games won't download data with custom kernels and I've found stock to be just as good on battery as any custom kernel and not far behind in performance. Your results may vary from anyone else's, so no one can really tell you what'll be best for you.

Use android 4.1.2. It is way smoother and less bloated than android 4.2.2

Look at my guide to Nexus 7 kernels. The link is in my signature

Best suggestion- try them and formulate your own opinion. These types of threads are frowned upon.

Thank you, your thread gave me an idea of what the community agrees with. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place couldn't quite decide. I'm close now! Thanks!!

Frowned apon, but I put ALOT of time into that thread. It's just one user's results but frowned upon? Think before you type.

May want to grab a cup of coffee to wake yourself up since my reply was in no way, shape, or form directed at you. It was directed at the OP, as this thread is just another violation of the forum rules that's going to get locked as soon as the mods get around to it.

I thought this was the questions thread for Nexus 7?! Is my question not valid enough for a community response?

Another thread closed.
The 'best' kernel/ROM is something you have to decide for yourself, there really is no right and wrong answer just which ever you feel works best for you.
This is why we strongly discourage this kind of thread.
We also do not like users that post multiple threads on the same topic, it clogs up the forums with pointless content.
Thank you

Best stock-like ROM?

I'm looking for a ROM that is mostly stock + optimizations. I'm not interested in the other apps and tools that other ROM's install. Can anyone recommend one for me?
Thanks.
RasbeanJelly has all the criteria you're looking for.
This is like the third "best ROM" thread I see today. Do you people even bother reading before posting?

I can't speak for or against Rasbeanjelly but what I can say is that it's not definitely the best ROM since that's a completely subjective question (which is why the quoted post is worded as saying it fits criteria, not that it's the best).
@op Threads like this are pointless because you can receive multiple different replies and the only way to decide for yourself would be to try them all out anyway so the entire thread would be redundant. Not only this, but it's offensive to devs to say that someone else's ROM is better than theirs.
EDIT: Well it seems my point about different replies has been proven by the two above posts.
Rasbean both variations vanilla or normal, or SaberMod currently one of the fastest if not fastest roms around.
But just try them out and see what works best for you plenty of good roms about.

Trinity vs Faux?

I am running trinity and am pretty smooth, but still I feel like sometimes it lags. I was wondering which one is better battery and performance wise. Personally I don't think trinity has that great of a battery life. Please just don't tell that you use one of these kernels, explain why you think its better over the other. Thank You
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
one kernel isnt better over the other, they are both good. the question is which is best for you. these kinds of threads arent allowed on xda as they are a good environment for flaming to pop up.
I was just asking the pros and cons of these two kernels

which is where the flaming will start. trinity(or faux) users will say that the one they use is better than the other, then itll go downhill from there. the pros and cons are for you to decide, based on how you use your device and how your device reacts to the kernel.
