Hi,
I can't seem to find a way to activate vibrations when receiving a notification. There are multiple options about the vibrations, but none of them seems to activate vibration on notification. I can activate notification vibrations in the Gmail app, but I would like to activate vibration for all notifications. Any tips on how to do this ?

Unfortunately it's not possible to have sound & vibration at the same time system wide. Either is sound or vibrate. Hopefully, ROM development will take care of this.
what about vibration when typing? Using the LG keyboard...

Just shifted to Android 4.3 on a Nexus 4 after years of using Symbian. Learning loads of stuff and loving most of it.
However there is one thing that I sorely miss:- The ability to control sound and vibration notifications through "Profiles". I installed a nifty little app called 'Settings Extended' with which I can control these notifications quite easily.
The problem is that these settings seem to apply only to Calls and not Text messages.
First off, I have kept the vibration notification 'unchecked' in the stock messaging app because I don't want it to vibrate everytime I receive a text.
Next I change the Sound Settings to enable both sound and vibration notification. Here I expect the phone to Ring+Vibrate for both Calls and Text messages..just like in Nokia phones. Sadly this does not happen apparently because vibration is OFF in the stock messaging app.
So now I'm in a fix. If I enable vibration in the messaging app, the phone will vibrate for new texts even when I don't want it to and on disabling it I run the risk of missing the notification sound or blinking LEDs for that matter.
I have tried 3rd party apps like GoSMS and Handcent where they have an additional feature to enable vibration notification for text messages only when "Phone is set to Vibrate". The problem here is that the phone should be in "Vibration mode" i.e only vibration is enabled and sound is disabled for the app to give a vibration notification on new messages. When both sound and vibration are enabled under Sound settings, no vibration notification is produced.
This is really bugging me. Seems unnecessary complication of simple tasks to me. I have searched the net for a solution and although have found few people having the same problem, I haven't come across a solution yet. So now I turn to XDA because I know that if a solution exists, it can only be found here.
Thnaks to anyone who had the patience to go through this post!
The volume control and vibration control on this phone is much less customizable than I would like.
Vibration mode turns everything to vibrate, but I get vibration notifications for emails as well as text and everything else. I would like it just to vibrate for ringtones and text if possible.
On my old phone I was able to turn off vibration for notifications and leave my gosms to do the vibration for the text, but it seems like there is no way to turn off vibration for notifications and leave it on for ringtone on this phone.
Has anyone found a way to turn the vibration for notifications OFF in vibration mode? While still leaving vibration ON for ringtones?
Any help would be great.
Thanks

settings>sound> go to the samsung applications section, you can adjust everything individually there... call, messages, email, calander
Yeah try this man like what evil posted settings>sound> go to the samsung applications section, you can adjust everything individually there... call, messages, email, calander
does this allow me to have diff settings for different profiles? I want the sound off for everything but vibrate on for everything but only when set to VIBRATE mode, but when I change to Sound mode, I dont want any notification to vibrate and I want sounds to play for everything, can I do that without having to go into each individualapp setting and changing it?

I tried this but it still vibrates when I receive an email. I'm using Gmail and have the setting for vibrate off in the Gmail app. Does anyone know a secondary app that can control all the notifications other than light flow? I'd even use something like that to fix it. I just want it to vibrate for phone calls when in vibrate mode. Have you guys been able to turn off other vibrations with the method suggested?
I find that some alerts don't vibrate at all or I'd like them to vibrate with greater intensity/repetition. Anyone find an app to set per-alert vibration settings? If not, someone smart make it please.
How will this work if you get multiple notifications at once how will 2 vibrations for one notification differ from 2 vibrations for 2 notifications ?
I've noticed that the VIBRATION notification reminder in accessibility bypasses your sound setting for mute/do not disturb; it will ALWAYS vibrate. It's odd because the SOUND notification reminder does not bypass your sound setting; if you are on vibrate/mute/DND, it does not ping, but the vibration does?
Right now I have the notification reminder on for just sound, with the VIBRATE option off as a workaround, but preferably I would like to get to find a real solution if possible.
Anyone got any ideas?
I got my S8 today and so far I'm loving it! Is there anyway to turn vibrations off when you get a text or any other type of message? I have turned all vibration settings and sounds off in the settings menu but I still get a vibration on incoming messages. Thanks.

Many apps have their own notification mechanism over which you have no control. All of my local news apps vibrate, and what's worse, there's no setting to disable it. You'll have to check the notification configuration screen of your messaging apps.

Thanks for the reply, I have found that with some apps you can turn off the vibrations and with messages you will have to turn of all notification settings on the app itself to stop the remaining vibrations.
That's correct! It's similar with iPhones as well; some app developers just do their own things.
