battery draining issue - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a new I9505 for my girlfriend. it seems to have very serious battery draining problem. a standard over night standby, doing nothing, wifi connected, battery would drain 30~50%. I tried many different roms and kenrnels, they all work the same way. I also tried deleting batterystatus information file, still no luck. could anybody tell me what's going on with the i9505?
here are some screendhots of the battery usage.

Nope, can't tell you why. Get better battery stats and figure out what's keeping your phone awake and using the battery.

It'll be an app she has installed. You have to find out which one through process of elimination

I found an app called alarmmanager woke the system around 200times in roughly 4hrs. is this the reason? if it's built in system, how do I delete it?

I had a backup of the whole system which I used... And the problem is still here... I would wait with factory reset until a good custom rom comes

Beyond fully charging and unplugging the phone, there is no such thing as battery calibration.

It deletes the battery stats.. And maybe my file was corrupted... It works and only after the calibration... So something must it have been doing.
Sent from my GT-I9505 using xda app-developers app
battery calibration means a new battery stat is build and the old one is wiped, it is done when full charging the battery and unplugging the charger.

Charging and unplugging the phone does exactly this. No mythical calibration needed.

It seems like we're going on a whole ”you say tomato... ” type thing here. I fully understand and don't dispute that something was preventing your batterystats.bin from being automatically wiped. What I was originally getting at, which was off-topic, is that wiping battery stats is actually not calibrating anything and that there really isn't much of anything that an end user can do to calibrate their batteries.

I know that... I should have been more specific... I used the "battery calibration" app from play.. It did the trick for me..
Glad it works now..

searching and reading can show you everything you need to know.
Only thing ive disabled is google play apps auto update.
My brightness is always at max and disabling auto updates helped me out greatly. You really don't need latest updated apps to run. Just go home and update them manually while charging.
My phone goes through over 12 hours on a single charge. But then I am not a heavy user. Just facebook, web browsing, emails when I am not on ky desks. Maybe 1 hour of phone conversation daily.

Use a power manager app. I'm using GO Power Manager, but there are many.

Why is this happening?

Recently I've been getting this notification when I try to update an app.
How do I get rid of it?

You may have a rogue app.
You may need to check all your apps
To track it down.

Lol. Its a rogue/adware/spyware app. Goto application manager from settings and hunt it down. Roast it and eat it. Also, maybe uninstall it?

Defiantly a rough app.
I would suggest a wipe in such cases, this is to fully ensure elimination of the problem.

S4 doesn't go into deep sleep..

Hey guys, I noticed when I leave my S4 not plugged in when I sleep, I lose around 20% over night. I used the better battery stats and was just wondering if anyone can help me read it.
Thanks!!

I'm using GoldenEye and stock kernel I believe
Power management is a generic process identifier. Partial wakelock should give better clue of what's going on and break it down, and looks like majority is that Alarm process for gtalk (don't know what this is, don't use gtalk). Google search processes to try to figure what they are if you don't know. Click on any '?' In the app to get more info on some documented processes.

Can anyone take a pic of wakelock on phone please for me to compare

I was wondering if anyone with wakelock detector can take a pic of "phone". I'm seeing a high number in RILJ, but can't remember if this is normal or not. From doing searches it says that it's Google maps related but I have all location services disabled. Not rooted if that matters. Thanks

Dude, 1 minute of wakelock for 15 hours of uptime is not an issue.

Yeah I get that sort of, but I can't remember it doing that many of them, that's seems like a crazy high number. I just don't know if I installed something that may have affected it

One of two things, turn it off If you don't use it, and if you do maybe try a force stop.

This app doesn't help me at all unfortunately. My issue is my phone won't sleep..in 11 hours it was awake almost 6. No clue why because better battery stats and WLD tells me nothing other than it was awake.
Anyone else experience this

Can you post a picture? Maybe you have location services on. An amazing app I use is "app ops starter". Allows you to modify permissions of apps. Don't like that a app can use your camera? Disable it. Also you can see when your apps access them. I hope this helps you out!
