Any tampering using Odin will give you a 0x1 flag. Even when updating to the latest official KNOX-enabled firmware.

Hi,
My country recd update to 4.3 almost 2 days ago, i m trying to update but cant updte thru OTA , it says max no. of rollouts have exceeded something so u cant upgrade, when i try through kies, it download firmware then force closes,
Is there any other way of upgrading?
I recently came across manual update, using odin,
If i download firmware from samfirmware.com and then install it through odin/stock recovery,

Hi.
No, it will not void warrranty as long as the knox status stays 0x0.

Hi thanks for reply
Can u also tell me i flashed 4.3 of russian country .. it came with some games which were uninstallable, can there be any chance that the rom is fake? It says 4.3 version in settings
Also if i go to samsung care centre to have indian firmware installed, will it cause any trouble?
Hmm.. fake rom? None that I knew..
I think it's better to get yr country's last firmware. So that samsung will not ask this and that...

if u download yr latest firmware from Sammobile and flash it with odin, it will not void yr warranty because this is a stock firmware. Samsung has already know that the latest update has been released. So, knox is 0x0. (if u keep it unrooted for a month or so...)
But if you rooted yr latest stock firmware, then the knox will be triggered 0x1. and warranty will be void.
just a note: flashing anything after "XXUD" firmware will trip a flag.
I hope u get a clearer picture.

Hello everyone
I installed last week the MJ5 with knox firmware of Germany, DBT and now I want to install MJ7 which is also knox based of United Kingdom, DBT.
My question is whether this procedure will turn the knox flag to 0x1 and void my warranty or not?
Thanks

I have an other question that I asked in another thread that doesn't get any replies so I want to ask you people here:
I installed last week the MJ5 German 4.3 stock rom (with Knox ofcourse) but when I enter Kies to see if there are any updates the Kies says that my firmware is not supported by Kies.
In the Kies the lines are:
PDA: MJ5
PHONE: MJ5
CSC: MJ5(BTU)
I understood already that BTU is the Product Code of United Kingdom but why is it there? I flashed the German stock rom so it should have been DBT there, right? I did everything by the rules.
And my question is: Will I be able to get OTA updates from Germany when they will be out (Kitkat and so on)? I don't care about Kies but will it interfere me with getting OTA updates?
Thanks
Anyone?

Yes, If your firmware is lower than MJ3 then you might still have the older bootloader that won't void warranty when you root (DON'T use cf-autoroot though). After you root your phone you can then use Mobile ODIN Pro to flash newer firmware - MJ7 - without getting the new root resistant bootloader.
Using RDLV or kingoapp won't trip warranty void so you stay on 0x0 and MOP doesn't trigger it either.

I'm the one who first using this method to update from MJ1 to MJ7 with root and old bootloader retained. Knox 0x0
Many has tried this method and no issue reported so far.

Sorry, mislook at your exynos version. So far MOP only supoort SM-N9005, which is the snapdragon version.

Hi,
I have two questions - hope someone can assist:
1.Do you know a customized ROM with working KNOX?
2. If I will flash Samsung's original ROM, will I have a working KNOX? What about the flag?
Thanks.

I believe you can still use knox even if the flag is 0x1. What just that means is that the container is not as secure and companies who allow BYOD will not certify it for use in their company. Most custom rom I've come across doesn't have knox.
Thanks.
So - flashing Samsung ROM with ODIN will flag 0x1?

Not really unless knox is already 0x1.
The phone is unrooted.
Sorry for asking again - if I understood well, flashing my unrooted phone with Samsung ROM will leave the phone with warranty (cleared flag)?
Thanks again.

Doesn't your phone already have Samsung rom or you are trying to update to 4.4.2?
I updated to 4.4.2 (OTA) but have a lot of problems so I want to go back to 4,3.

I'm afraid it's not possible to downgrade to 4.3 once you upgrade to 4.4.2 ( for now ). Only the N900W8 can go back and forth between 4.3 and 4.4.2.
Ohhh. Very bad.
Any case - thank you for your assistance.

I've never understood what Knox is. Does the tripped Knox mean you can't get your full official warranty back? What problems does tripping Knox cause?
It means the system has been compromised so yeah I guess warranty void. Basically another Iphone in the making.
