Need help, bootloop.. - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed LCD Density app from the market. Changed settings from 320 to 300 and it said to reboot phone. This put my phone into bootloop with LG logo and led flashing. My phone is Verizon, rooted with TWRP installed. I can get into TWRP but hadn't made a backup yet. Any ideas? I tried wiping will in TWRP and then rebooting but still got the bootloop. If it matters, I have a Mac. Thanks for any help...

Factory reset in twrp. Then install the rom again should work. Changing dpi can have adverse effects ☺

How can I get the Rom onto my phone? I have a Mac?

did you delete the rom from the sdcard? if it isnt there anymore then you will need to adb push it. I dont have a mac so cant be of help on that side of it.

I was running stock Rom. Only mod was black notification bar. I hadn't downloaded any roms yet. Don't think I can get adb to recognize my phone as I can't select Ethernet connection. Any ideas?

I don't have a Mac, so I cannot help you with that. And I really hope you get this rectified with the help of the community here. That being said, please know that this next comment is not being directed solely towards you, but to a whole lot of others as well.
Order of life in customizing your phone :
1. Root method applied
2. Install appropriate custom recovery
3. Boot to custom recovery
4. MAKE A BACKUP. PERIOD! Absolutely no reason not to do this step. It will save your butt or your phone in the future, when, not if, you find yourself in a bad situation.
5. Have fun with your phone, but only after you understand what you are doing, and accept the possibility of messing up your phone. $hit happens when it's least expected.
I didn't mean for this to sound harsh, but it is really important to understand.
Anyone with a Mac that can help this person out?

Yeah I have always made a back up in the past. I'm so annoyed at myself for not doing it. Any suggestion on how I can either get a rom onto my phone or edit the build.prop back to stock?

Got it fixed! Was finally able to connect to my Mac. Then put a rom on the phone using ADB and flashed the rom.

It amazes me when people don't create a backup.

Lost my galaxy nexus waiting on my Nexus 4

I had a question meanwhile so I am able to better protect my nexus 4. I had ceberus installed on my galaxy nexus, but really for anyone that has half a brain he would just flash the phone back from the boot menu. Is there a way to protect your phone from being flashed if stolen? Can you put a pass to even get into the boot menu? :crying:

If you install cerberus via CWM (a system apk) it can survive a factory reset... And people who are about to steal your phone have no idea what CWM is... so you it should work!
Edit: I actually remove my CWM entirely and go back to stock recovery. Makes it even harder for them to get at it.

It sucks that you lost your GNex.
If you are lucky enough you can still find it and recover it using AndroidLost:good:.
Its on the Play App store. This app can locate your phone, and take pictures of who ever is holding it and/or using it. You can lock your phone with it but any android power user can flash your phone from the boot menu. The idea is to get to your phone before anyone attempts to flash it in the first place, by locating it in 2 minutes using AndroidLost or any respectable Find My Device kind of apps. Worse case it will delete everything on your phone if you cannot locate it, as to keep preying eyes away from your data.
www.AndroidLost.com
Let me know if you need help with the App, I use it daily for almost a year now.

No...All you need to do is copy the cerberus.apk to the system/app folder. OTA don't uninstall the app. If you are concerned, after an OTA update, check the folder and see if the cerberus apk is there. If it is, you are good to go, if not, just copy it back.
Id recommend downloading hidden version of Cerberus .... Found on their webpage

Help with my brick please

Hello everyone,
I'm hoping someone will be able to help me. I seem to have gotten in over my head. I have flashed various ROMs to my a500 over it's life without trouble. But about a month ago I tried to flash a new one and it didn't work. Came up with an error about partitions (I don't think it's important at this point). I was using TWRP recovery at that point. After the error, I could not get anything to work. My back up wouldn't recovery, I couldn't flash the last ROM I used, nothing worked.
I tried a few things to attempt to fix it, but I think I only made matters worse. I no longer have TWRP recovery installed. I think I have only the stock recovery. Tablet sits on acer screen when powered on. I haven't been able to install any update.zip packages. PC doesn't seem to see device when plugged in via USB. I can't put device into USB debugging as it doesn't boot so I'm unable to follow most guides I see.
Can anyone help me? I'll be happy to provide whatever information I can.
You can't get into Fastboot? You sure you have the correct drivers? What bootloader were you using and what kind of rom were you trying to load? Your gonna have to be more specific to garner more responses

No, I can't seem to get into Fastboot. If it works, the tablet should display fastboot in the corner, right?
I have the Acer USB drivers installed. I believe they are correct.
I was using TWRP and attempting to install Jelly-Bean_4.1.2_CM10-FLEX_v6supercharged_Aroma(22-Nov-2012)
Also, thank you for responding. Sorry if I seem a bit noobish. All the ROMs I have used up until now just worked so I didn't think about too much.
I'm really missing my tab. Hopefully someone can help me out.
My TAB appears to be completely bricked as stated above. No boot. Just the Acer logo on the screen on power up.
I think what I did was format the entire thing. So that there is nothing on it. I have blackthund3r A500 Manager v1.02 installed and it displays "NO A500 Connected!" in the bottom corner. As I stated most guides tell you to turn USB Debugging on, but I can't do that since it doesn't boot, and really I don't think there is an OS installed on it at all.
Anyone have any suggestions, advice, ect?

I recently rooted my S3 i747 and then installed cyanogenmod 10. Keep in mind I am not a wiz at doing these things, however it did work. Here in lies my problems. 1. I hate this OS with a passion. Its just not what i thought it would be so I would love nothing more than to figure out how to remove it and return to stock firmware or another custom rom. 2. If i stay with this rom (for not being able to figure out how to remove it and install another) I am running out of storage internally. Its a great possibility I could have done something wrong. so with that being said, can anyone help me? I have tried more websites than I care to. thanks so much!

Well what I did was follow along a youtube video... Which in turn may not have been the best idea. I remember doing some sort of back up on clockwork or something like that. I tried to go to recovery mode and restore but that didnt help. Im not sure what all I did to be honest. :/

edit... Pull the battery on your phone and put it back in. Hold up vol, home button and Power till you see the little words in the top left corner. It should say booting recovery really small. at that point take your finger off of the power button only and it will boot into Recovery.
If you have CWM recovery or TWRP you are golden...
Or else... see below
Find your phone in it's section you should be able to find a method using Odin to flash it back to stock and then you can read up and find the way to do everything you want.
Just do your research and look through the forum for your phone type/carrier and you should be able to find all of the information that you are looking for.
Search and you shall succeed!

why do you guys make things so complicated? the guy wants his phone back to stock.
The only thing you have to do is to go to www.sammobile.com/firmwares. Then put your phone number i9100 in the search box and choose any of the roms below. They are all stock, 2.3/4.x.x etc. The rom is in a zip file, however, you have to extract the tar file inside it.
Power off your phone then, while holding vol down, press and hold power.
Open odin in your pc then connect the phone to pc while being in download mode. press the pda button in odin and insert the .tar rom whoch you have just extracted. press start and you are done.

Well returning to stock is just as easy as finding a stock ROM in his phones thread and flashing it, it'll be better in the long run that way as well because maybe he'll learn something.

so, I wiped my g2, and now can't get a rom back on it

I had rooted it, and flashed twrp, 2.6.3.2, and somehow wiped the OS off it, along with the SD card. so now I'm pretty much stuck in TWRP and can't seem to get a push or sideload to work. adb sideload apparently doesn't exist anymore, and when I do a push, I see the file get created on the phone but even after letting it sit for almost an hour, it still hasn't finished according to adb. I need to get a rom back on the device and not sure what to do next.
edit: I should add that even though I see a zip when I'm pushing, when I try to flash it, it doesn't work

If it can see the external card maybe you can load the os from there...Copy from your PC to the card and load it.Not sure what else you can do...I wish you luck.
EDIT:Maybe if you try to do it the legal way,i mean with LGs update or something from the pc,might work?

i did try using their tool and everytime I ran it, it kept saying it couldn't detect the device
I think your only option is to go back to stock and attempt your changes again. Just follow the directions here and you should be good to go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2432476
I just tried it and I was in a somewhat similar boat as you, and it solved the problem.
NOT true you should be able to sideload the roms using adb while in twrp. Click advanced and use sideload feature. ..you'll have to look up the push commands

you seriously just saved my ass man, thank you!!! I'm back up and running now
I never mod unless there is a return the stock and have ran through the guide and actually restored the phone. And this phone requires a lot more steps than a Sammy phone so I am glad I did that. Saved me twice already and saved time when I was in a pinch since I already knew how to do it.

[Q] HELP!!! Nexus 4 stuck in what i think is "recovery mode"

Hello All,
About 2 days ago i tried to root my google nexus 4, I dont know what i did, but now when i turn it on it shows the google logo then goes to where it shows an android with a red exclamation mark, does anyone know how this can be fixed, any help would be much appreciated!!
Can you be a bit more specific on what you did? Or what guide you followed?
Rooting is quick and easy on a nexus
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot flash recovery nameofrecovery.img
Then flash ROM of choice in recovery
Reboot

Ok, i had successfully rooted my phone, i then went to put on a new rom so i could use OTG storage. That got me completely stuck, i tried toget back to my normal phone but didnt know how. I foolishly went into recovery mode, and wiped everything off it. and just now i cant even do anything it just has a red light flashing at the bottom, i hope this has helpt in some way.
Do you have a custom recovery? Use adb sideload to flash the ROM, or if you have a working otg cable this should be fine too
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
UPDATE: The red light has gone (was just low on power) But the phone is still stuck in recovery mode. i have tried to "apply update from ADB" with my mac but it doesnt work and im not sure if i am doing it propperly.
I am pretty new to this kinda stuff, so i dont know what a custom recovery is, and i honestly have no idea what to do, im not really bothered about the root anymore i would rather just have my phone back to normal.
Please dont take this the wrong way and I mean no disrespect, but maybe we should just get your phone up and running and then maybe a few months from now after you've done a whole lot of reading you can consider rooting again. The n4 isn't the most expensive phone in the world but it would still be a shame to brick it, as much as I believe all androids are best to be rooted the user really needs to understand fully what s/he is doing, 95% of "help my device is bricked" threads come from lack of homework, which is easily 100s of threads a day across xda alone
OK, sorry for the lecture I've just ran into this a lot lately, and I'd be glad to help
I try not to use apple products as a whole so I can't say for sure why its not connecting with adb, is this for sure set up properly? As in has adb or fastboot worked fine in the past? Also is device currently unlocked? By a custom recovery I mean nonstock, not an oem, like twrp or clockwork.
If you want root let's download the latest twrp image for the n4, if you want factory than download latest from here

Let me know how you want to proceed
