[INFO]SD-Card for Native-SD - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Greetings
Research
I wanted to inform you guys about the problems in some SD-Cards while using EXT4 partition(DataOnEXT or NativeSD or A2SDx). I had used about 15 Class 4 8GB SD-Cards of different companies. Only two of them worked using an EXT4 partition which means that 15 out of 120 SDCards will work. But what I just said sounds just wrong :silly: . Then I noticed that all 4 of these were made by SanDisk and Kingston which meant I had more research to do that is why I gathered about 14 more SD-Cards made by Kingston & SanDisk from my cousins and all of them worked. Believe me, on the other SDCards Native-SD wont get past the bootanimation and if it would it would fc a lot and then hot reboot.

Conclusion
If you are buying a new SD-Card for your HD2 or any other phone please prefer buying SanDisk or Kingston. I got a 16GB SanDisk for my birthday :highfive: and now I'm using Native-SD again.

Are you sure that's what you've seen? Because I think it's been noted on this board that plain SD cards WILL work; SDHC cards will NOT work. Not sure what the difference is, other than working or not working on a Universal ("HC" for "high capacity"?). Maybe yours is an SDHC card? Cheers,
How do you know if its an SDHC though
Heres a pic if it helps

Well, mine says "HC"...your mileage may vary.... Cheers,
SD 1.1 only supports 2GB
check out this page for some good info on SD cards w/ Windows Mobile:
http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2007/01/12/everything-you-want-to-know-about-sd.aspx
Short Answer: SD version 1.1 is only up to 2GB. Version 2.0 is more but Windows Mobile doesn't support Version 2.0. (unless the OEM added their own support.)
I think SDHC is a trademarked name for SD ver 2.0.
At this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secure_Digital_card
"Some manufacturers have produced 4GB SD cards that do not conform to the SD2.0/SDHC and are incompatible with existing SD devices, and are also incompatible with SDHC devices"
Mine works fine with Transcend 150X 4GB which is SD 1.1
how did u find out it was SD 1.1. did you oplugit in your computer and then figuer out or what?
In the computer and also on the card package. On both places it says SD 1.1
afaik, SDHC was just a term made up so consumers don't get confused, the only 'difference' between sd and sdhc is that sd is formatted fat16, sdhc is fat32.
Windows mobile can read fat32 so they should work

You are totally wrong. There is a big difference between the both standarts. If it was like you say I should be able to plug in a SDHC into my HTC and it should work .. but it aint. Theese are two different standarts with totally different arch. so a SDHC card won't work into a non-SDHC compatible hardware. It is the hardware that does the trick not the file system.
I stand corrected then
ocz sd 4gb
I have been using a ocz sd 4 gb card fine , im disapointed as i was going to buy a 8gb card ,are they making a 8gb sd1 card or will there be a firmware update to enable the htc to accept sdhc, or am i just being a thicko asking this ....

Did I get rip? Class 6 SD? or did they just stamped it on there

I recently ordered a class 6 SD from Transcend. Just today I ran the J bench mark and surprisingly I got this result
SD
w 1.67 MB/s
r 2.42 MB/s
That looks a lot like class 2, please tell me I am wrong. Can anyone confirm this please.
How many times did you run the benchmark? I know that when I tested the 4gb card that came with the phone, I got class 4 and class 6 speeds on different tests. Try to close anything that is using your sd card and do multiple tests to get a weighted average.
Are you testing it while it's in the phone? Try testing it by itself in a card reader if possible.
What's your testing procedure?
I just use the J benchmark off the market. Anything else I need to do to ensure a good test

The nexus doesn't seem to read/write past 3MB/sec through hardware.
You have to test the sdcard in a card reader to see if it's the proper class.
try SD benchmark.. it showed my 16GB class 10 as a class 6, but thats cuz read's where 6.5 mb/s.. writes were over 13 for me on that program. but this J bench both were around 2.. lol
try the SD benchmark in market
I did try the J benchmark and I did 100mb file and 8kb buffer and my results are.
Write: 4.88 MB/s
Read: 9.62 MB/s

[ Storage Card ] External SD card available for WP7.x & Android together ( Now )

We use WP7.x and Android NativeSD , we will have three Partitions of the SD memory:
1 - FAT32 - External SDcard ( available for Android)
2 - Ext4 - NativeSD
3 - WP - unallocated
Windows Phone can not see the external memory SDcard FAT32, which is available only for Android,
But I aspire the ability to be used in both systems Android & WP,
If only we used WP, we get the Storage Card 200MB, but it will be hidden from the WP in any change in size!!!
I made several attempts
I finally succeeded by making the external memory SDcard readable for both systems and the size you want
very easy way
Format SDcard partition to NTFS
* If you're using Android & WP and your memory is divided into three sections
1 - Convert Partition 1 "SDcard" to the NTFS format,
Using one of the software division:
MiniTool Partition Wizard Professional Edition
Or EaseUS Partition Master 9.1.1 Home Edition
2 - run Windows Phone - "will read SDcard and re-converted to a special FAT32 (Other)"
Now, the external memory SD (Storage Card) are available in Windows Phone
Of course, remain available for Android, and is available when you enter PC
...

Note:
Storage Card does not work in the browser TouchXplorer
Can be used:
FILE BROWSER
FILE BROWSER with Killer Theme
Unique File Maneger
wPheExplorer
...
Do not change the size of Storagr Card again
Because you will need to re-format to NTFS

microSD card damaged?!

I've about 20gb of holidays photos and since I want to put them in my Android without reduce internal storage phone I bought from amazon 2 microsd XC-I 32GB (I've 2 galaxy note).
Every photo is about 1MB, so I first of all formatted sd with android in settings and then I connected the phone to pc and I tried to pass all photos. When transfer is finished I can see photos in gallery but when I reboot my phone a message appears "Your sdcard is damaged" and I can't do anything, only format another time my sd.
It's very annoying! I tried with both sd card, I tried to reduce photos size with irfanview or put photos directly in the card (with a computer card reader). Nothing worked.
So what could be the problem? How can I solve this issue?
I don't understand why a Samsung sdcard doesn't work with a Samsung phone. And it's not an old sd but latest samsung sd card.
Here is the card:

OH crap my bad. I totally read your question wrong. Forgive me for that ><
Try putting it in your computer, formatting it as FAT32 (I believe that's the one), then transferring all of the photos directly onto the card, not passing through the phone.

When I connected SD card to Computer and tried to format using 'chkdsk' but it says files are in RAW format. Is there any way to recover? I am not sure whether this thread is in the right section. Can anyone shed some light, I badly need some files in that SD Card.
Thanks

Sorry bro out of ideas.
If you can't format that sd card on windows/Linux using disk management utilities. Then you should get new one.
