Crooked Home button on the Note 3 - are you affected? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My AT&T Note 3 has so much play in the Home button that you could literally move it around with your thumb and it would end up being crooked horizontally in different ways.
It's been driving me nuts today since I noticed. I can have the right side be higher than the left side or lower, that's how shoddy +Samsung Mobile's manufacturing is.
Here, I made a GIF:

Looks like I'm not alone: http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...key-button-moves-spen-isnt-easy-take-out.html.
Does anyone here have the same problem? If you want to test it on your Note 3, just use your finger or fingernail and try pushing the left side of the button up and the right side down. Then do the reverse. Mine feels like it's almost going to fall off.
Edit: just posted it on AP http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...-note-3-home-button-did-anyone-qc-this-thing/

Yep mine too....have to take it back on monday..it will bug me lol...or worse fall off.

My home button is the same and I have the international snapdragon version bought here in the middle east.
Doesn't bother me much though. Is the note 3 your first samsung phone ?

I think it's safe to assume every note 3 has it. A new note3 will probably have the same issue unless it was manufactured in a different batch that corrects it, which is unlikely at this point. The reason I asked if this is your first samsung device is because samsung is known not to be really big on quality control in their manufacturing process, as they manufacture millions of devices from TVs to phones to all sorts of other appliances, and having strict QC process would slow their production process (This is just my reasoning anyway). My point is this shouldn't come as a shock to anyone unless this is the first samsung device they acquire. My last two phones were samsung and they both had their share of craftsmanship defects.

You know what they say about assume. The tightness of the new button design is something I'd put on my "positive" list. AT&T white N3 if it matters.

I have the black international Snapdragon version, bought in the UK. I do NOT have this issue as far as I can see.

Mine is fine doesnt even move cant. Sm n900 vietnam batch non carrier

I noticed this on my white UK model... Trying to not let it bother me... Isn't working.... Will be falling up three next week for replacement!!

Galaxy Note 2 for Verizon Will Be SCH-I605

http://briefmobile.com/galaxy-note-2-confirmed-for-verizon-sch-i605
The Galaxy Note will be coming to Verizon as the SCH-I605. Verizon, US Cellular, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint should all be receiving identical versions of the device. We hear that they all have LTE + quad-core processors... perhaps due to a separate modem for the LTE. Not sure about the specific way Samsung was able to get around the Exynos' lack of an integrated LTE modem.
Be on the lookout for SCH-I605 coming to Verizon.

They could put a giant shlong over the back of it for all I care, I just want this 5.5" Quad core 2GB RAM BEAST w/ VZW's 4GLTE.
But if they did actually put a shlong on the back, I'd put on a cover..
As long as it comes to Verizon I am happy. I would sell my Galaxy s3 so fast to get the money for this phone. I wouldn't use my upgrade I have because I love my ulimited data!
Hope they keep the international specs like the sprint model (quad core exynos, 2GB RAM). Don't know why manufacturers have been dumbing phones down for America. They claim its LTE compatibility but then they have LTE versions in places like Germany and South Korea with great specs.

It's not that everyone is freaking out, but everyone uses a device differently and thus some features are very useful to them and not to others. Obviously it's unimportant to you.
I have had many Android devices and ios devices. Invariably after beginning to use a new device I find a feature missing that I got used to on the old device. I am very glad to see Verizon getting the Note 2 as the SCH-i605, and since I will be paying full retail, I want to be careful it has all the essential features I want.
Thanks for the picture and clearing up the mystery.
Well TBH I never had a phone with a LED, so maybe it's one of those features that you can't understand it's importance until you try it yourself. The note II will eventually be my first phone with a LED (unless I changed my mind and got myself a Lumia 920).
Which CPU is expected to work with Verizon's LTE more efficiently?

Hi,

I got mine swapped over as its still within 28 days.

2 different n7 2013

I have 2 different n7 2013, one of them has a Ce, made in china and do not put in the trash logo below the little logo on the back and one does not. Is something wrong with that?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Is it just a sticker?
Also are they from different manufacturing months (on the box if you still have them)?
They are both 07 2013, both bought in north america, and it's printed, not a Sticker.
More precisely: both bought in the United states.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
mine says made in china 2013.7 on the box, but nothing on the unit itself.
edit: ok i looked again and it is on mine, had to use a light and get a look from an angle.
i also noticed that the box says "perchlorate material", which some u.s. states classify
as a hazardous waste. hence, i assume, the trash warning.
It's normal, never noticed it on mine until closer inspection plus the fact I put a case on pretty much straight away but it's there under the 'ASUS' branding only fainter than the one shown below.

Most of the images on Google of the Nexus 7 will be from specific site reviews, not many individual buyers will put up high res images of their unit.
Still you could be onto something but I thought electronic devices had to display that info anyway, the original Nexus 7 had it displayed as a sticker due to the soft touch material back.
Also I would thought it'd be the other way round having info for retail & not bothering for demo units etc.
Or maybe just they ran out of stamping ink or forgot with some units?
Both my Nexus 7 2013 and my Nexus 4 have that on the back. I wasn't aware any units were sold without it, thought it was a legal thing (the same info is normally under the back cover of phones, but neither of these devices have removable backs)
Strange how some have em and some dont
it could be to do with shipping aswell but strange
its from same place
AlderCass' picture shows exactly what i mean. The unit i am writing from now doea not have that. both were warehouse used - like new versions from amazon by the way.

Yea DON'T UPDATE it.
You could probably install a custom rom though to get newer versions that don't include the updated touchscreen.
as far as i can tell, both of my units have little to no touchscreen issues. little enough for me not do anything.
the version without the ce logo runs paranoid android rc 2.99
the version with the logo runs stock android 4.3 (ota update installed)
abut the ce marking thing: that means the one with ce marking could have been sold in europe to. Then I still wonder why they bother to make 2 different back cases.

Quick question for others about cam that have tried. How are your pics in gallery zoomed in? Mine seems to be blotchy, almost impressionistic when zooming in on taken shots, I thought there was an effect on at first. Worried at the moment as have tested in various light settings. Will post when i get a chance
Edit: seems to be a "raising of expectations" effect. I will test tomorrow in better light. Compared to my note 2 it is winning out by far in low light, which was my test at first
Slesh, have you moved on to the s5? My biggest complaint on the note 2 is the low light capabilities. I'll be interested to hear how this pans out with the camera. I've been due an upgrade for months but just haven't been won over really with any of the new releases..

last night did side by sides with Note 2 and s5 in low light, S5 blew it out of the water. At first I was upset at clarity of s5 in a certain lighting, then tried Note 2 in same scene and saw it was pitch black in that area by comparison. Was like a night vision difference. There still seems however to be a blotchiness/effect it seems going on in pics when I zoom in on the the pics. But it might just be me

I bought mine from Expansys. I had to change roms just to get LTE on the LTE model. so I voided my warranty by default. They offered to swap the handset, but I think they don't realise the g900m they sell doesn't ahve lte enabled, even after the OTA update. so I get to live with it. It's slowly shifting. eventually it will be away from the image sensor
I just really hope it's nothing to do with the water resistance. I'm already considering this may last samsung phone after 9 different galaxy s/note phones... luckily I don't typically bring it in water with my so it's not that big of a deal, but if it does happen and it leaks there.. samsung will be dead to me.
Mine was literally in the middle yesterday. So maybe by tomorrow it will be clear again. It's definitely related to heat. Either that or it wasn't glued in the first place.

ya, I've been debating about doing this tbh. I've changed glass before in other peoples' phones.. but I always had a new piece to replace the broken piece.. basically a spare.. I dont' have a spare if I mess up heh. ya I'll probably do this later. and maybe re-glue it lol...
I'm going to try this now heh.. will report back shortly. I took a look at a video online and it appears that the ring is accessible once the glass is removed...

so I just took that little o-ring out. wtf is it there for? lol, it was almost off the lens anyway. I only pried it open enough to get a needle in and take the ring out, I didn't take the whole thing off. I doubt it's as water resistant but who knows...
ADDITION: so it appears to narrow the field of view slightly. I don't take selfies, I may have a hangouts video call once a week (usually on my computer, but if I'm out I'd like to be able to do this..). I notice if my finger goes over the edge of the top of phone (but not over lens) it pics up my finger, where as it wouldn't have before.. big deal. I'd rather not have to take it apart again, so the ring is gone lol.
I hit it with the hair dryer once after pressing it down... going to do it again shortly, its' completely cooled. just hitting it again to be on the safe side. didn't cause any damage to phone so was rather easy just make sure to be patient. I had pry tools from old phones, but I wouldn't recommend taking the entire glass off with it...
Thanks for getting back to us and telling us how you got on.
