First of all : Hello!
I follow xda and its community from years, and reading and searching trough topics i have been ever able to solve my problems, until now.
Unfortunately i'm a newbie (<10 posts), so i can't post in the direct thread, and i have to post another one here ; besides i've searched trough forums, but i don't find anything.
I have a Galaxy S4 I9505 on which i installed XXUDMH8 taken from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42798446#post42798446 ; in the past i've installed faux's kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2273437), but now ausdim's (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342298).
I'm very happy with this kernel : it's more stable and fast, really smooth as butter, in some words really impressive.
But i've a question that's mading me mad : could someone explain me how i can add oc steps?
I want to add 2214 mhz, 2268 mhz and 2322 mhz steps (as in ktoonsez's kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2297379), but i don't manage to understand which files i have to add/modify, and where are located : please help me!

get kernel tuner on google play. but i would not oc that much it will make your phone crash go about 2198 max
I've installed it before to give it a try : it's certainly full and rich of interesting features under every aspect ; but unfortunately isn't what i was looking for.
I've talked to ausdim before, and he explained me that to reach my purpose i must recompile the kernel from source code.
That'all apart from an easy and beginner thing.

Hello. I searched the forum but didn't really find an answer.
I was until 5 minutes ago with the MIUI rom. I know the last kernel I flashed was the cyanogenmod kernel (which I used with another rom...can't remember which one because I flashed 5 roms in 1 day).
I wanted today to abandon MIUI because I was having problems with the display timeout...and some other things, compatibility with applications and details were not really good for me.
So I flashed now the rcmixhd, downloaded from rom manager. What kernel should I use?
And....is a kernel independent from the rom? Will a rom not work with the proper kernel?
*deep breath*
By going through the kernel threads, reading about them, seeing what others say then choosing a few to try, add them, try them, make a decision, keep one.
Just like your radio question and your ROM question it comes down to two things:
1. Your particular hardware capabilities - Some devices like some kernels better than others.
2. What YOU want from the kernel and how much YOU think it's the best one for YOUR situation / wants / needs etc.
Only YOU can decide what one YOU like the most subject to them working ok with your particular handset (this is particularly true for overclocking).
As a rule of thumb, if you're not fussed about over-clocking or BFS vs CFS etc. then what ever kernel the ROM creator advises.
Now please, pretty please, use the link in my sig to find more in depth answers as this question has been asked too many times already.
You don't pick the kernel, the kernel picks you.

Nice
Is there swap support? I can't get it activated, for some reason if so. If not can swap be added? Love your work btw.
Think I made a fixable mistake.
My device had TWRP and was rooted with SU but I have 4.3. For some reason I wasn't paying attention to the OS and flashed this rom anyway. The stock kernal is for 4.4 too am I right?
Any easy way to fix this? I'm not getting past the Tegra Note startup screen. I can still boot into bootload and thus TWRP to update the stock kernal.
WIFI problem Shaky Kernel Tegra Note
Sir i love your kernel. I have watched rootjunkies videos and learned about your kernel. I am on kitkat with latest ota update.

core usage
Hi
Thanks for your mod. I have a few questions and would appreciate if you could help. Apologies if they have been asked before.
I had to downclock as dead trigger got choppy at 2.1 Ghz by the way...
At stock speeds, am I right to assume that 1.8Ghz is only attained with one core? If so, would using performance governor while setting the max frequency at 1.8Ghz detrimental in gaming? Would the note not deactivate some cores to attain this frequency? Is it a limitation that your mod has?
I do not care about battery life. Therefore, which min/ max settings should I use in setcpu and which governor and schedulers would offer the best speed?
Also, has anyone found a fix for EA games sound stuttering?
Thanks!
Mat
first of all, the kernel just kicks ass
now my question: is it possible to get my previous bootanimation back while keeping your kernel installed?
Hey man, thanks for this kernel, gave this tablet a much needed boost.
I did notice something though. In one of your first replies you mentioned that you fixed the sensors issue, but the one on the link on the OP still has broken auto-rotate.. Is it just me?
I'm using one of the newer Tegra Note 7s by the way, tn7_114gp.
Hello
I want to consult how to make setting min and max of 1 core sets all cores min and max frequency.i'm had another tegra4 deivce want to oc,but only 3 core when 4 core runs together it will limit at 1.6ghz.
Shakey156 custom kernel Tegra Note 7
I have flashed this but accelerometer is not working. It was mentioned that autorotation was fixed but the kernel file I flashed seemed to be broken in that respect.
auto rotation problem
cn anyone help me guys auto rotation not working and im using stock rom 4.4.2 kitkat (rooted) cn anyone help me how to fix it?

Please help!
Thanks for an excellent kernel
I was working on my TN7 having this kernel, but I've updated to Android Lollipop, and deleted the kernel ... Will this kernel run on Android L, or is needed to wait for a new kernel for this version of Android ???
pls can someone give me the shaky kernel link or just post the file here.
That would be very helpful. Thanks in adv.

Performance
Hi.
I installed this kernel in my i9505 a days ago. All was fine. But for curiosity, tested Antutu benchmark 5 to see the results. With superlative (162mhz - 2.1ghz) the results with everything closed, ram cleaned and wifi and data turned off are between 26xxx and 28000... Under stock normal values. With mainline i can have 29xxx values.... I thunk that it is not jormal... overclocked phone have worst values than stock phone... I tried othet governors andhad the same values... Is something wrong?
hello guys, I have the carhdrom 4.4.4 with ael v6.3 everything works but the wifi is not connected to the lina falls all the time, so we improve it

edit -- dont worry, i stopped being a little fairy, backed up using TWRP and selected the MAIN option, not the Super. Seems to have installed fine and now im pulling more charge from usb. LEGENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! See, even an idiot can use this, good work peeps!
Hello,
Just to point out from the start, i have no full understanding of what im doing!?!?!
Im trying to achieve improved charging over the usb (as i use my S4 with an MHL adapter in the car and am losing charge). From what i have read, this kernel is exactly what i need.
I have installed TWRP recovery and tried to install the kernel zip file. However, i am then given two options to install, one was superlative and i forget the name of the other. Do i install both or just one of them? If its just one then which one? I apologise if this is a stupid question, i have done some extensive research online but i think my lack of understanding is creating more confusion.
If anyone can dumb down the installation process it would be sincerely appreciated. I am using the stock ROM too (rooted with CFRoot).
p.s. i appreciate that due to the fact that i dont fully understand this then i shouldnt be messing around with the kernel, however i am desperate for a faster charge.
Please help kind people!!
Is kernel update 5.0

Use universel kernels script cleaner http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2492144 superlative you can oc up to 2.1 mhz and uc down to 162 mhz and the mainline kernel you can't my friend use what ever you want.
So basically flash the kernel script in recovery then mainline or superlative kernel reboot

My Experience after two days with this ROM
Hey,
First I'm coming from CM11 ; every day I'm using the sames apps, doing same thing (it's a routine) so I can easely compare ROMs.
1. The battery is VERY VERY good :
After a day of "normal" utilisation (LTE, Music for 2 hours : Deezer streaming, One episode of Suits : MxPlayer, Luminosity around 70%, A game session around 30 minutes : NOVA 3, reading articles : Flipboard, texting with apps such as Textra, Whatsapp+ ; I use Greenify with donation package) :
My battery is between 20-25%on the CM ROM.
With the tweak "PACPerformance" on ; setting Max CPUfreq to 1497Mhz (Whitelist : NOVA for gaming sessions ; back to 2265Mhz) ; Greenify ; and my daily utilisation my battery with PAC ROM is around 40-45% !!!!!!!
2. The ROM is stable :
Well for a beta version, this ROM is realy stable !
I tried all the PAC features, everything is working good except :
I can't stream videos from internet in any apps. It's NOT working att ALL and causing FC of the app you use ; you have to download it and watch it with a video player.
Init.d settings (the battery is draining ; causing "blue screens", reboots ...).
Halo is not optimised for the phone but I think it's not a big problem.
FC of "PAC Console" twice a day, doesn't really matter.
3. You have to try it :
I think this is the best ROM ever realesed for our device !
This is CM in much better, you can do wathever you want, you can manage EVERYTHING !
Battery is better ; everything is better.
:/
sorry but the rom isnt working for me.
What version do you use ?
Wich recovery ? From which ROM are you coming ?
Are you stuck in bootloop ... ? Develop men

You should read the discution feed.
I had the same problem look at here.
I had a solution :
I tried many versions of CM lots of them didn't worked.
Finally the CM-11-2014005-NIGHTLY-ks01lte worked like a charmed.
I'm using TWRP, I wiped my phone then I flashed CM-11-2014005-NIGHTLY-ks01lte.zip, then I flashed PAC and Gapps.

Try it.
Is Bluetooth remote control working properly?
The phone rebooted on some previous CM based Rom while controlling the volume by Bluetooth when playing music.
That would be a deal breaker for me
thanks
download and try

(sorry can't quote don;t have enough posts)
Stuck at kernel image and I can't find CM-11-2014005-NIGHTLY-ks01lte, even on your google drive link (it's been removed) is it worth just flashing a newer nightly (I.E 2015........) and then trying to install PAC
Thanks In Advance
Hello all.
Like the title says, I am trying to compile my first kernel.
I really like the CM11 i9505 nightly kernel, but it would be amazing in my world if it also had voltage/overclock/and gov additions.
It is my understanding that if I compile the kernel myself adding these features would be easy as they mostly exist in a single file that I could copy from similar kernels.
I have been trying to build my first build environment, but it seems that I am failing in amazing ways by trying to follow the CM guides on the their wiki. :crying:
I have an i3 dell 6420 laptop with Ubuntu (installed and functional) that I am dedicating to this effort, but I seem to need spoon feeding on this first attempt.
Does any one have a good step by step guide that I could follow for building the CM11 kernel?
Failing that does anyone have the time to chat in a live state on a weekend or late evening to help build this?
Of course if someone has a CM11 nightly kernel with the added features, I wouldn't object to using that and not reinventing the wheel.
