[Q] Add / Remove Home Screens - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi .. just got myself a new Samsung Nexus 10 and I wanted to know how to add / remove home screens. I've checked around but there is no answer for this. Everything running default and no plans to change to a different launcher. Just needed to know how to add / remove the home screens.
In my android phone is relatively easy. I just need to hold on to the screen and I'll have the option to add / remove but not on this Nexus 10. When I do the same, all I get is the option to set the wallpaper.
Appreciate any help / advise.
Thank you.:cyclops:

You probably have a TouchWiz phone by Samsung.
You can't change this property on stock Android without a new launcher. Give the free Apex Launcher a shot, despite your reservations against doing so.

Any way to customize the new launcher buttons at the bottom in Froyo?

It annoys me when someone hard-codes two buttons assuming everyone must use them all the time. Can you customize them? I didn't see anything in the settings menu. Thanks.
Bump, going to keep this one top front page.
i was just about to start a thread about the same
I know this is not the answer you are looking for, but if you use Launcher PRO, you can not only customize those two buttons, but have an additional 2 (4 in total).

No, currently there is no way to customize them to the shortcuts you want. But it is big on his priority to do.

That's what I thought. If I'm stuck with two hard-coded buttons I might as well use Launcher Pro which provides a few more hard-coded buttons that look nicer in my opinion.
I'm loving the new launcher from FroYo, but the Drawer is slow when i have a Live wallpaper on and same thing with launcher Pro.
Seems like it would be a matter of changing the current shortcut to point at something else. Should be a piece of cake if you know what you are doing and hopefully someone that does will come along.

[Q] Removing apps shourcuts from the apps screen

Hey all!
I know it might sounds stupid, I'm kinda new to this Andorid stuff
I have the MDJ Revolution HD v.1.2 on my HD2 and can't figure out how to remove\delete shourcuts from the all apps screen, Not the home screen, the all apps screen
I tried everything, can't drag them anywhere cause it says my home screen is full and when it's not, i tried to drag them down and delete them but... Nothing
I'ts there a way to totally remove\delete them from the apps screen- it's a mess!
Thanks guys,I hope you'll make my week by helping a new stupid guy solve this out
=)
From homescreen, click menu button to bring up menu c screen, click menu and find application in menu setting screen. On application manager screen, choice and click on application you do not want and uninstall it. Rhis method will uninstall your application, therefore to have it back, you have to reinstall it.

Thank you for your answer !
But i guess you got me all wrong, i don't want to Uninstall apps.. just to remove the shorucuts of them on the all apps screen( once again, I'm NOT talking about the Home Screen - just about the All Apps screen. I moved my shourcuts to folders like;games, media, etc...
now all I want to do is to remove the annoying shourcuts (Igot too many) from the all apps screen.
Got it now? I wanna keep my apps, got them all in folders,,, now please help me remove the shourcuts on this all apps screen
thanks again!
That's down to the launcher. What launcher do you use? (Please say launcher pro!)
Oh yeah, and I'm not being all "know-it-all" like, cos I don't, but it's the App Drawer. Other people will at least know what you mean if you call it something we recognise

I'm afriad I don't use one or know what that is.... Yeah, i know, I'm new to this, and new=stupid.
If you understand my problem with the shourcuts on thr all apps screen i'd love to know what you got to say about it.
thanks man
New don't mean stupid mate - you are stupid if you're stupid though
The launcher is the homescreen, with all your shortcuts and widgets on it, and encapsulates the app drawer as well.
In your case, since it's a HD build, I'm guessing that means Desire HD, and I'm also guessing that you have Sense on there.
Is that right?

Yeah!!! 100% right.
Okay. Do you want to keep Sense? I only ask because I use something called Launcher Pro, which is basically like your desktop, with widgets and shortcuts, but it also encapsulates the app drawer. With Launcher Pro you can hide shortcuts from the app drawer, but I've never seen this in any other launcher, including Sense.
Is there a way to keep sense and still be able to remove the shourcuts i don't want?
I like the sense thing.
Its just weird I can't find a way to deal with this all apps screen and edit it somehow.
btw- thanks for helping, =)

No worries mate, but as I said, Launcher Pro is the only launcher I know of with this option. It's something that would be in the launcher itself - not something that could easily be added on.
Got it. so I guess Sense and removing shourcuts is something that can't be done,
Thanks again.

Not that I'm aware of. Unless there's some hidden method within Sense itself then I'd imagine that you're asking for new functionality, which would need re-coding and a rebuild of Sense.
I've had a bit of a google and couldn't find anything else either.
I know it's not ideal, but try Launcher Pro. It's in the market and it's free (there's a paid version with some more options). When you press the home button you'll get asked what launcher to use, so you can toggle between Sense and Launcher Pro (and the default Android Launcher) and see which you prefer. It'll mean setting up all your pages again, and you won't have access to the HTC widgets in Launcher Pro, but there's swings and roundabouts.
If you don't like it, you just uninstall it and go back to using Sense. It won't affect your current Sense setup at all, so you won't lose anything.

Widget Positioning

Hi,
I am fairly new to the Android world and I have some questions for you guys.
So as I said the Atrix is my first Android phone I've already rooted it and done all the modification we, bell users, can do.
There is one thing that I think is really weird and its the widget positioning. Why do all widgets have 1/8 of free space on top, on bottom and on the side? And why is there already "pre-designed" area to put you widget in? It feels to me like I can't place them like I want... Am I doing something wrong or is there an option somewhere to remove that?
I tried searching Google for that but wasn't able to find the right word so I can get relevant results.
I am currently using Go Laucher.
Thanks for you help and sorry if there is some english mistake, english isn't my first language.
It is like a fixed grid, but you can have some more freedom/customization using apps like luncher pro

I'll try Laucher Pro then!
Thank you!

or using go launcher create a 5x5 grid, or use desktop visualizer to use custom icons all over, etc etc
LauncherPro Plus allows widget resizing. Get it if you dont already have it.
Stick with Go Launcher because 1) it's free and 2) it allows widget resizing without paying (ala Launcher Pro Plus).
Set your grid to 4x5 tight or 5x5 extra tight and you will have barely any margins on the sides.
I changed to 5x5 and it helped a lot!!
Thanks to everyone!
I've got a question slightly related, is there a way to set up the original homescreen launcher to come up when I press the home button because I got Go Launcher and pressing home only seems to go there and I have to kill it to get back to the original screen.

settings/applications/manage applications/go launcher/clear defaults
Thanks for the reply, I already did that but i can set the default for the home button as as the original launcher as long as I have other launchers installed, the original just doesn't show up in the list of choices. I have Launcher Pro as well as I was testing which I would like better but when I press home the list comes up with only Go & Pro launchers, I guess I'll just have to go with a third party one then it seems the default launcher doesn't get it's own app or whatever.
just uninstall them if you dont want to use 3rd party launcher....its that simple

How to stop the home screen from reloading?

Hey guys, I'm running codename android after trying just a few roms& it has been perfect for my personal needs! However, I still have the issue of my home launcher apparently not staying loaded in memory, because most of the time when I press the home button, & always when I unlock the device, my home screen has to reload. The many widgets I use on my 3 screen layout take especially long to load. First World problem, I know, but I'm looking for a mod to correct this, or possibly just a line of code that can be edited? I know V6 supercharger is supposed to help with this, and I've looked over it for use on some of my phones, but it is a rather jumbled OP & the thread & description just seems a bit messy? If anyone can help me or offer any advice I would appreciate it. Have a Great Night Everyone, & thank you in advance!
stock or a custom launcher? i get reloads with the stock launcher on aosp/rasbean.

I believe it's Trebuchet w/ a couple small tweaks or settings added. I'm sorry it took me so long to respond, I've been extremely busy with work but I'm very appreciative of any help or advice you may be able to offer.

Remove the weather from the home screen.

Hi
Is it possible to remove the weather from the home screen?
Thanks.
OK, after nearly 1,5 hours playing different settings, nothing happen.
So, I just install Nova Launcher - free and very customise.
But, if someone find way how to remove weather from home screen in pixel launcher - please share.

I just use lawnchair. But you can also use Pixel launcher editor with substratum.
i recommend Nova Launcher! also recommend using Nova Google Companion which adds swiping left on home screen for Google Now / news feeds just like Pixel Launcher if you miss that feature. i just wish they add dark mode support :crying:. Nova last update the companion in 2017 but still works perfect.
i cant post external link because im too new, but apk is download from nova official site. it is safe:
https : // help. teslacoilapps. com / nowcompanion
make sure to add to integrations in nova settings after installing apk
Guess not.
