Transfer Files Into Knox
This had me beaten for a while.
Two ways to do it ...
Method one -
Upload your files to a cloud server such as Dropbox or Box.
Access that same cloud service using the web-browser while inside knox.
Download the file/s while inside knox and they will then be available in the knox file manager.
Method two -
Connect your samsung device to PC with USB cable.
Copy your files onto device or onto the SD card.
Start knox
Return to personal area.
While in personal area go into 'my files' file manager.
Select file/s so it has the tick in the corner.
Go up to the menu at the top right corner.
Choose 'Move to knox'
Files appear in knox, disappear in personal area.
This works with single or multiple files, but NOT with whole folders.
Hope this helps everyone.

So I have my EVO mounted and while viewing the root of the SD card I hit <Ctrl>H to show hidden files and then go to .Trash-1000 and all of the files that I thought I had deleted from the music folder are in this folder.
Any info on how to get rid of these files? Even if I try to re-select them and delete they disappear for 1 sec then return... They are .flac files and are very large, so I need them gone.
What is the proper way to delete files directly from folders?
What computer are you using with your phone? '.Trashes' is the name Macintosh uses for the un-emptied trash folders. I imagine similar processes are used by other OSes. To empty it simply requires emptying the Trash (or Recycle Bin) from Finder or the like. You can also use any file browser when the phone isn't mounted to delete that folder directly.

By default on Ubuntu (and other distros with GNOME), pressing delete just puts files in a trash folder. In the file browser you'll have to "Empty Trash" to delete them.
If you want to skip sending them to the Trash in the first place, press "Shift-Delete"
I Usually delete that entire folder.

Hi, I downloaded a big iso file (say file x) on my nexus 4. weird thing is I can't see the file from my pc when I connect my phone to my pc. I can see the folders on my phone but can't see the folder (say folder f1) that contains the file..
Even more weird thing is when I moved some file in the f1 to a folder (say f2) using Astro file manager that can be seen from my pc. I can see the file in f2 on my phone, but it's not on my pc.
Then I renamed a file (file y) in f2 in Astro. Both fy and f2 can be seen on my pc. But on my pc I can't see the name of y changed.
In short what kind of changes I made to my files on my phone, nothing happens on my pc. I have unplugged the cable and repluggd it but the situation is still the same.
Also, I can create folder/file from pc and they can be seen from my phone.

All right, it's suddenly just fine. No idea why.
Was going to say it could be due to the horrible MTP that Android now uses instead of Mass Storage.
MTP Limits large files from being transferred to and from the device.
(and only shows some folders, usually the basic Music, Downloads, Pictures, etc - and folders that were created on the device via the computer)
But since it just showed up, I have no clue...
I have no problems with MTP, all my folders and files show up on my pc. Can also transfer large video files without a problem. The size limitation by the way is 4GB.

Sometimes you may have to reboot the phone to be able to see the files. Works for me. After download some files I can't see them immediately, have to reboot phone then plug in and files will be there.

I've had trouble with MTP, unable to write certain files... So I have to Zip them, copy them over, then unzip them from within Android. And I made some Backups of my Apex Settings and such, before uninstalling the app, when I plugged the N4 into my computer the location where Apex saved the file did not show.. Once I finally just saved them to my Google Drive from the phone, I was unable to copy them back over to the N4 (hence the reason for needing to ZIP them) - Also I recreated the Apex settings folder myself via Windows Explorer in the Android Folder of the n4 but Apex was unable to find it. When I clicked Backup within Apex, it normally will inform you of an overwrite if backup files already exist, but this did not happen.
I have the basic folders appear in Windows Explorer (Alarms, Android, DCIM, Downloads, Movies, Music, Notifications, Pictures, Podcast, and Ringtones) ... The Android Folder (where Apex saves its backups) would only display a few select folders (those related to media) so the Apex Backup folder is not visible in Windows Explorer...
Anyhow, I'm certainly not a fan of MTP... but will read the article you posted and maybe it will help/change my view
I'm aware of hidden folders remaining that way when enacting the usb transfer protocol mtp, but I'm not sure why hidden folders which were accessible on my older HTC device are not visible within a file explorer (such as es file explorer) on the phone.
This sorta cripples legacy applications reinstalled to the new device as they are unable to access the previously created data allocated to these areas.
Does anyone have any idea how to make these folders visible on the device [galaxy s4] without resorting to mounting the card directly to a windows os environment?

As this has slipped into obscurity, I'm going to add some more information in hopes of generating more viewership.
Hidden folders are usually folders with a (.) at the beginning. These folders were once accessible on my former device and can be viewed on any other device than my GS4. Once I mount to the phone and open up any file explorer they are no longer visible.
Does anyone know why this is and if there is a way to reverse this?
EDIT: SOLVED.
I've determined that the only way to access hidden folders on the device is to check "show hidden files" in ES file explorer settings.
I'm bring this thread back to ask the question, how do I view the hidden files and folders on my Windows 7 computer when I plug the phone in via usb? I had no problems viewing them hidden folders on my S2 but now n my S4 those folders are completely hidden on the S4 when I plug the phone in. What's different now?
Android dropped support for USB Mass Storage mode to mount the phone on a computer. That is the mode that let's a computer see everything. It also let's the computer access things it wants to. The MTP that became standard for Android 4+ (some versions of skins put the mass storage support back in) keeps the phone in primary control of the files. This is supposed to prevent file corruption and conflicts with the phone and computer changing the same files at the same time.
You can move the content on the phone to a non hidden folder to see it on a computer.

How to encrypt your files on the Honor 8On the Honor 8, there are several ways you can protect your files. Oe way is to use the built-in app lock app to set an access code for specific apps. The other way is to create an encrypted folder on your phone's local storage to hide your private files. Here is how you do it:
Create a Safe
First we will open the "files" app. Tap "safe" in the bottom right corner and setup a password and security question for your safe. This will create an encrypted empty folder on your system. To add files to this folder, open your safe and select "add".
Find Safe Location
Find the file path of your safe by opening your safe and selecting "safe location". This folder is hidden from standard file browsers so it's nice to know the direct path to your safe folder.
Switch Safe
You can create multiple safes and switch between them. To do this go to your safe settings and select "Switch Safe". Here you'll have the option to create a new safe or switch between the ones that you have.
Safe lock files
My phone model is honor 8x nad i have saved my datas in the in build safe lock. Now i dont remember the password as well as the security answers. And above that i cant decrypt that files too. Can you help me with that.?
Hi I just want to ask, I recently notice this since I decided to placed some pictures/videos of my device on the secure folder app of Samsung S8+ however I just notice that even if it is already hidden under secure folder, it still shows up on my phone's Gallery app. Is there any solution to this?
after you put the media files in secure folder, just delete from your galery

Yup. Anything moved to your secure folder needs to be deleted from your device afterwards (if you no longer want it there). Apps that you install directly while inside Secure Folder will only exist inside the Secure Folder.
Secure Folder is a sandbox. Things installed or downloaded while within SF stay there. For instance, install Chrome Dev and a file manager of your choice while in SF. Open SF Chrome, download a few images, then go into the SF file manager. The images you downloaded should be there. Now, leave SF and go to the file manager in the app drawer. Look everywhere for those images you just downloaded. You won't find them. This is because SF is sand boxed. It's basically an encrypted virtual machine running within Touchwiz. The only way to access it is through the Knox Framework.
This is why things moved into Secure Folder from Android remain in 2 places -- they're 2 different environments. The Knox encryption is then what stops you from moving things out of Secure Folder -- the decryption key isn't available in that direction. You can move apps from Secure Folder to your homescreens, but they're still Knox enabled. Try to share a photo in Secure Folder to a contact via SMS and observe how sparse the share sheet is.
Knox is pretty cool.
How can SF be in sandbox but showing contacts on the main contacts app can this be disabled ?
Yes can anyone explain this Secure folder ? Why are my ''secure'' contacts showing in normal contacts ?
I am experiencing the same thing... I don't understand why my "Secure" contacts are showing in my unsecured regular contacts app.
Could it be because of Google sync? If you are signed in with your Google account inside secure folder, contacts may get synced to Google and show up in regular contacts also.
