Phone Turns off when talking photos via HDR mode in camera - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Phone Turns off when talking photos via HDR mode in camera. I'm on pure stock, MG5. Am I the only one having this problem?

Having this problem even on 4.3 while taking photos in Richtone mode. Tried factory reset, no luck. Please help?

Camera inverted (upside down) with CM7.

Hey guys.
I've been using CM7 for about a month now, currently in the 010911 Nightly.
Everthing was fine until this past week, when the camera of my phone started to have strange freezes and lags. Then, one time, it FCed and when I turned it back on, the display was inverted, and colors were all strange and washed off.
I've rebooted, cleaned the data, etc, etc, and nothing fix the issue. Keep in mind that there's nothing with the tilt sensor. It's something software related.
I remember seeing a fix for a similar problem a while back, but I searched this hole forum and couldn't find anything, so, I beg for your help.
Thanks a lot!
Sorry for the bump, guys. But I really need some light with this problems.
Try clearing Camera app data or switch to another nightly.

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, I already tried both things you suggested, with no luck.
Not sure if it has anything to do with it, but is the boot mode set to 2nd init by default ?!
You can also try using other camera apps like Vignette.

dude, we are on the same boat. Tell me when u find a solution.
A temporary fix which i m not sure till when its gonna last but is working for the moment.
open camera, leave it opened and pull the battery. put the battery again after 2 mins and see if it helps you. Its working for me at the moment but dont know the logic behind the process.
I already got my camera hardware replaced but this problem happened again just after rooting the phone.
I have the same problem and I'm almost sure it is a hardware failure. Maybe after a shock or drop. I'll open my unit this week and see what's wrong. Did some of you manage to fix it?
I've even tried flashing full stock sbf without success, so I'd blame the camera module.

Camera trap with 240fps!

Hi,
The problem here is related to camera, not with my phone, but my cousin's one, whenever he switches to 240 fps video recording, the phone crashes, forcing him to reboot.
As regarding my 6P, I'd never faced such issue. I looked online, and found few people complaining about it, many of them considered replacing the defective unit. *which is difficult in my country*
Does anyone here have any kind of solution for such problem? :crying:
Has he tried doing a factory reset and make sure he's on the latest version?

I'm sure it's the latest version.
But it's a used phone *almost new* and he did factory reset before doing anything.
Mine used to crash like that but now does not, always been totally stock, on Feb. update.

So, it had been resolved by Feb update?
Check Apps
I had same issue.
The reaqson was in LiveWallpaper which crashed device camera.
Another one had this issue because of one static wallpaper.
Check your apps & walppapers. You also may try to turn on Safe Mode to exclude 3rd party apps from loading.

I haven't had an issue with this myself just to clarify and I'm not sure if you tried already or not but just thought I'd throw this out there because it's the first thing I'd try, have you tried going into Settings - Apps and clearing out the data and cache on the camera app and then rebooting first before checking to see if it fixed the problem? If you have already but it didn't fix it unfortunately I wouldn't know what else to tell ya unless you're rooted, and to be honest I can't remember if the Sprint V20 has been rooted or not. Anyway hope it helps.

Camera's Flash Won't Turn On While on Narrow Lens

Hey XDA's folks!
I have a non rooted ATT H910. The stock camera app can't turn the flash on when i take photo with the narrow lens. I tried the manual mode but it still doesn't work. The flash works fine while on video though, the flashlight also has no problem.
Tried any other camera apps and it works, only the stock apps that wont turn the flash on while im taking picture. This bother me when i use instagram and whatsapp because i cant use the flash too.
Already tried restart, clear data and cache of the stock camera, factory reset and still no solution. Could you help me?
Ok this sucks
I've had this before on my rooted H990. I wish I could remember what I did to fix it, but there was something. I can tell you with confidence, that it isn't a hardware problem. I'll think about it today and get back to you if / when I remember. It wasn't complicated...

Looks like auto focusing or image stabilization. Try turning on/off tracking focus
Thanks for your reply.
Just turning that off and test it again on manual focus. Still the same..
