This dead pixel (well what I think is a dead pixel) keeps popping up on the top left if my screen on the notification shade. It doesn't happen all the time maybe at least twice a week or so and don't last that long and can instantly disappear when u open the notification shade.
Here's a screen shot I took when it popes up its an odd half w shape when you zoom in:

Can anyone tell me what it is and what's happening.

I would also want to know about this, I just got my nexus 4 about 3 months ago and I've always had this problem as well its just annoying at times seeing that red pixel
Yes,having my N4 for like 1 month and i saw that pixel. It's from Rom or Kernel problems.
I see every so often and i'm stock rooted. I can get rid of it by pulling down the notification bar
A stuck pixel wouldn't show on a screenshot as its not actually being drawn by anything.
dead pixels should not show up in screenshots since it would be a defect in the actual display panel. This must be something wrong with the rendering.
Dead pixels don't show up in screen shots :fingers-crossed:
I too get this red dot once in while. anyone knows what it is?

I woke up last week and started using my phone to check email/twitter and everything was fine at first, then all of a sudden the screen filled with vertical lines:

The notification bar area still works. I've tried pulling battery, SBF, nothing works. When booting the screen stays black, but you can see the notification bar area is a different color black. The screen is not cracked, the phone wasn't dropped to make this happen, it just happened out of the blue. Any ideas?
Almost looks to me like the GFX chipset fried.
I've seen this on desktops and laptops in the past.
Is it under warranty still?
Or maybe the lcd cable needs to be fixed
Did you try the screen fix apps in the market?

Either that or its a ribbon issue

I had a similar issue with a refurbed d2, right out the box, from asurian. Not much that can be done but get a replacement.

So my N10 replacement arrived due to my first N10 (haven't returned it yet) having some minor light leakage. Right after the first boot on the new N10, there's a single pernament blackline across the screen. Checked if there was light leakage, and found it to be much worst than my first N10.
Anyways, I decided to take a photo of the black line with my DSLR. After a few shots, and then looking back at the screen, there were now 2 black lines. I decided to take a few more shots, and while I was looking at the screen, a 3rd line popped up before my eyes.
Lines are predominately black, but sometimes, depending on the background, the lines will have some brighter colors.

Gona send the replacement back. Just to be on the safe side, keeping the first N10 since its working perfectly fine and the light leakage is easily tolerable. What do you guys think caused this to happen?
Strange! Maybe it was damaged during shipping.

Google may track via serial number the devices they send, so you may want to let them know first in case they realize you sent the replacement back.

Have terrible light bleed on my Nexus 7 that is approx 2 months old, been getting worse and worse, just filed for a RMA but Asus says they do not cross ship for tablets so I would be without it for 3-4 weeks.
Is there any fix I could try? Is this a similar issue to the screen lift problem everyone seems to be having? If I warp the tablet in my hand I can get the bleeding to be more or less or different places which leads me to think the screen isnt on straight.
Here is screenshot off it on a pure black background

I've gotten some lightbleed on my Nexus 7 (minor, not noticeable unless brightness is turned up) and the "ripple" when I press on the screen. I do assume this has something to do with how the screen is mounted, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
Ouch. Does it creak a lot to?

The only real way to fix this is with a screen/digitizer assembly replacement.

So I'm currently talking with Google and waiting on an email back to see their response...On any grey or dark surface, I have a white banding on either side of the screen that runs the height of it. I also experience some burn in with my calendar widget (due to the white boxes on it). You can see them in the one photo. It almost looks as they've burned in through the settings menu.
Has anyone else experienced the same issue?
I thought it might be normal at first but I compared it to my wife's N4 and her display is flawless!
White banding:

Burn-in:
damn, i experience the same.
i'll shoot a pic later.

Not normal. It is defective. Google should take care of it no problem and send a replacement.

I get it with the tapatalk app avatar boxes and the keyboard if I leave the screen on for a while. But it always clears its self up before I notice it to much more.
I've had my Nexus since February and its done it since day 1.

So guys I'm kinda worried, I just got an s8 today and check this picture from contacts:
https://ibb.co/nLKobQ
As you see, the most left part (that is usually all black on most applications) is darker than the rest. Is your s8 like this as well or just mine? Not sure if its supposed to be like this or I should have it replaced. Thanks!

It's supposed to be that way. You can choose what color you want the navigation bar to be and the default is off-white.

That's normal though. As tharghan mentioned the navigation bar is off-white by default (which is sort of like a VERY light gray) and this helps prevent burn-in.
It's most likely not going to become an issue as soon as on other phones like the 6P and Pixel since the navigation bar and buttons consistently change color when you switch apps. If you notice the navigation buttons are white on the home screen but they turn dark gray once you go into an app.
