you have to edit the systemui yourself - you cant just install greper and expect it to work

I did all those steps and now my statusbar doesn't show up. no FCs or anything, just no statusbar. gonna restore my systemUI and think out things for the mean time.

If you have done all the steps correctly it will probably be a signing problem if it doesn't show
Once you recompile with apktool there will be a folder called build in your decompiled folder
take your original systemui.apk from rom zip
unzip it with winrar
copy META-INF folder & android.manifest
past in your decompiled folder of your mod in build/apk
recompile again

tried that one and after booting up, my statusbar force closes
I'm now redoing everything, something must have gone wrong
Nevermind bro, I figured out an easier way to add carrier logo on my systemui - download another systemui.apk

I know only sum small modifications. Decompile the framework-res.apk using apktool. You can replace any pngs with your own in the drawables folder, including the wallpaper and buttons. Like if u draw a wrong pattern, it gives a red colour. You can change the colour in the various xml files (u have to give the colour code, eg. 'ffffff' is for white, '00000' is for black, '4042ff' is for a particular light blue). After making the changes, compile it. For more info on apktool, search the android OS forums.

I would like to alert all GingerZaraki users (and any other ROM which has the statusbar bug like mine) NOT to use this mod. You will loose all icons on the statusbar. No, launching Terminal Emulator and Rebooting WON'T work. Just a note.
@OP if you can, please add this to your post. I dont want 30 PM's due to this
@All thanks guys
good luck

Yes, but look at the picture I uploaded. There is a problem when the carrier name is too long. And I don't want S3 status bar, I want to change the brightness sliderto get a combination of CM and S3 layout.
the backgrounds are found in SystemUI.apk
the background with the settings shortcut is a .9.png. something like this. quickpanel_plmn_background.9.png
it is in the statusbar_expanded.xml
if your using a stock deodexed the expanded background is a hex code in status_bar_tracking.xml. try to check it. it can be a png file. it depends what the themer/dev wants

I changed thos pngs, but how I can change the brightness slider?
I have brightness slider governed by progress_horizontal.xml in framework-res.apk
I want to create a drawable value and change all the brightness slider: the seekthumb and the seekbar
it is also a png. try this tutorial. you know what png files are responsible for that.

The best thing for you to keep it really simple and to avoid manual editing with apktool is to use uot kitchen
the Web address is http://uot.dakra.lt/kitchen/
if you're not sure how to use it Google guides but as a general rule
make sure everything is set to ldpi
update script to galaxy
make sure you generate preview
and upload your SystemUI.apk framework-res.apk and if required twframework.apk
