I've found in my sdcard file "hosts", which redirects domains, and in this file are some malware cleaners, p0rn pages and others... Is that any android virus or unsuccessful step to hack my hosts? Thanks...
well i was looking for a hosts file to ad the adblock filters to, and i dont even have one on my sd card :\ so maybe you can delete it ?
The hosts file on your sdcard won't do anything.
To get redirection working you have to put your Legend in recovery mode, mount /system and copy hosts to /system/etc.
In normal mode you can't write to your phone' system partition making it perfectly safe when it comes to viruses trying to alter something there.
Thanks for advices guys.
I have the tablet version .apk installed that was posted in the collection of Transformer apps, I think in the Xoom forum. Anyways, it opens fine before it force closes, but when I try to open my resume it crashes. I tried installing it outright and also putting in system/app. Both ways give the same results, it opens then crashes when opening a file. I cleared the data, reset the device, nothing.

Did you check the apk details to see if there's some sort of license/drm check?
Many apps and games are now coming with a license check, just like computer software to make certain people aren't pirating them. Something could be checking for a serial number.
I don't know if that's a paid version too. If so, I'm pretty sure discussing pirated apps is against ToS. If it's a freely available thing then, no worries. I'm waiting, maybe forever for a LibreOffice port to Android. Probably be a long while, dunno how well Dalvik and something that big would play together.

That's true, it may be a paid app. If so I'm not trying to do anything that's frowned upon here. I do know that the app isn't available in the market yet. I think I'm gonna put this off for a while and see what happens with the official release because it's obviously not working right now.
From what little I can learn Polaris Office comes preiinstalled on the Transformer tablet only. I found advice that I needed to move two lib files over to system/lib to make it work. Well I only found one lib file, copied to system/lib and still crashes. I can get it display some stuff but it won't let me start a new doc or read an exist in doc. There are some nice YouTube videos showing how it works, and it looks real nice. I hope some can figure it out.
Look at this post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1114100
The two files are libpolarisoffice_Clipboard.so and libpolarisoffice.so. It works fine for me without any FCs.
Yep, It Works For Me Too..
but you have to push the two lib files to system/lib using ADB (or Root Explorer)
Thanks for the names of the two file...it works! I am amazed at how this info is found and shared

Perfect, thank you. I knew there had to be a way.
However (you just knew there was going to be a however!), Polaris Office loads OK, but many of the functions don't work. For example I am able to type in text for a new document but very few of the tools at the top work and I can't highlight any portions of the text. There must still be something missing to make it work correctly. When I do a check for updates within the program it says I am up to date. Any one else seeing these problems?

Seems to be OK for me, I've had it running for nearly 2 weeks now. What functions specifically aren't working for you? I'll try them on mine...
I found a couple of YouTube videos by andyxover that I was able to try out. I could do all of his examples.
The problems/limitations that jumped out at me were
(1) you can not move pictures around in a document (MS Word limits you also)
(2) in spreadsheets you have to type in the blind when you are making enties into boxes
I need to ply around more to get a better feel for this UI.

1. Yes you can. Single tap on the image and it will select.. Then you can move it where you want within reason.
2. There is no "in cell" editing. Editing is in the text box at the top of the screen.

Hello, I was readig your posts looking for help and maybe you can help me, as I can see you solved the problem.
I have an Acer Iconia A500 w/Honeycomb and tryed to install Polaris Office.
I donwloaded the P.O. files and read the txt file: (Using root explorer or adb, push the two lib files to system/lib.).
Downloaded and install rootexplorer, copy to pen drive "lib files", opened rootexplorer, copied lib files then went to System File, opened lib file, did hit paste and a warning message says this file is reading only.
I began to investigate and found that needed to root the device, I did it and tested with root checker, it said it was rooted succesfully, and then repited the hole process, again, read only file.
I was reading posts and found that what I think is the problem, "Fix permissions", so it let me paste the 2 lib files. But still havent found the answer to this. Is there a step I missed? or I'm just doing it all wrong?
I thought if I could find the way to solve the "fix permissions" problem and could paste the 2 lib files in System/lib folder it would be the solution, but can´t paste the 2 files. What should I do?
Thanks in advance for reading and helping me.
It's kind of funny.
You've missed an option in Rootexplorer. It has a button on the top corner that says "Mount R/W" press it and copy the files. You have an old version of rootexplorer if it doesn't have that option.
Ok, here goes:
OPEN Rootexplorer,
top right is the Remount as R/W button, click on it and it changes to Remount R/O
found MNT folder and click, foun usb_storage folder and click,
found the folder I made with 2 lib files and click,
Multiselect and mark: libpolarisoffice.so and libpolarisoffice_Clipboard.so files and Copy
Back to System folder and then to lib folder, click PASTE and " You cannot paste here because the file system is read-only.
What happen??? What am I doing wrong?

By the way, the 2 lib files have an icon in golden color with a star i brown color, would it mean something?

Opened the system file folder, found the lib file folder, opened and tried to paste:
the same answer "You cannot paste here because the system file is read-only"
But I noticed something, when I click R/W it changes to R/O, when I open system folder to Paste the Remount automaticaly changes to R/W again after it was R/O, I don´t know if it something important to this case, afted denied access I cilk the remount button again, just to see if it changes to R/O, but it doesn´t.
I usually just copy the files and then press the r/w button and paste. I don't leave the folders. You shouldn't have problems if you're rooted.

Just double check with rootchecker and it says I have root access.
I don't know! Maybe is not for me this time.
Thanks a lot for your time
Anyone had any luck getting the video player to actually work, i modified the .so file myself so i know i did it correctly at least as far as the patch that worked on my phone is concerned but on the acer i just got i can't get it to load up a video, just sits there blank
EDIT: nevermind i forgot to reset user agents and flash permissions on the browser, i guess i'm too tired
where do you place the so file??? Can you help me get this working?
Get eh libflashplayer.zip from here and follow the instructions.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1010606
Make sure you have installed flash 10.3 first.
Works great.
Ok I still can not get this to work.
I have Flash 10.3
I downloaded the zip file in the link and moved the .so file into the data/data/adobe..... location and replaced the file that was in there.
I rebooted. I have Dolphin HD set to desktop. I have cleared all the cache and cookies. I have it set to always enable plug-ins as suggested deep in those threads.
I have tried everything but yet, neither the apk hulu listed, or the website will play any hulu videos. I can see the page, the ads load fine. SpikeTV loads it's videos, just not Hulu.
I keep getting the "video not available on your platform" after the loading circle.
Help????
Edit: The stock browser does not work either.
I've noticed that every time I reboot that file gets reverted and I have to copy it back over.
Try killing your browser with a task manager and reopening it after copying, instead of rebooting.

That did it! Thanks!
It's working in Dolphin HD.
So to recap the steps for others.
Get Flash 10.3
Go to link mentioned above,
Download the .so Zip file.
Move the .so file to the data/data/adobe..lib folder
replace the file with the downloaded.
Make sure you are set to Desktop and not Mobile.
Also, not sure if it is needed, but I set the settings to Always Enable Plug-Ins.
Hulu works!
cacerts.bks updated 12-6-20
When the original search was on to repair the aging cacerts.bks file in order to get the Kindle app working again, one of the things I came across was a remark from a fellow who had located a Honeycomb ROM (Android 3.2...last stop before the format of the security certificate storage was changed) and copied the cacerts.bks file from it to his Android 2.2 device which was having problems with websites, etc.
I still can't get the method described by @tshoulihane in this thread to work for me. But his edited cacerts.bks file works really well in solving the problem.
Yesterday I managed to locate a CM 7 ROM (Honeycomb). It contains a largish cacerts.bks file (compared to ours) with 127 certificates, 17 of which have expired. These seem to be mostly for central/eastern European and Asian entities, so perhaps not that critical. Well, it's only 10 years old
It has worked for me with the Kindle app and perhaps will help with some of the websites that complain about a secure connection even though I have enabled TLS 1.2 in Opera Mobile. More testing is needed there.
For anyone who wants to try it out, it is attached below. To use, rename your current cacerts.bks file (that's in /system/etc/security) to cacerts.bks.bak or similar. Then move the new file (unzip) into the same place. Check permissions. They should be rw-r-r. Reboot.
This looks great... though when I tried to rename and copy the new cacerts file, I am getting blocked due to the lack of root permissions.
I'm running the 1.2.1 tweaked/modded rom so I thought it wouldn't be an issue. I also tracked down the supersu3.1.3 apk and sideloaded it, but it didn't help either. Wondering if you had any ideas?

So was your SU app missing? Or did your file manager just not have root access?
Hard to know where to start. From my experience, the best-behaving SU for the NST/G is the one that comes with NookManager (attached below). It's old and the binaries are probably out of date, but you don't need anything better for the device.
You can try removing the one you have now, reboot, and install the one below. Then check that your file manager has root acccess. In ES File Explorer, for example, you have to go into settings and tick the selection for root access. It's not automatic. And even with that, you have to tick an additional box to mount /system as rw while you're working in it.
At one time the superuser app was included -- but is no longer linked, and I had overlooked it after initially flashing the rom.
Unfortunately, the su app you provided also doesn't work. When I try to delete the old cacerts.blk it looks like it's doing something, but then the file still remains. If I instead try to rename the file, I get "operation failed".
I tried to delete or rename using an app called "root browser", and also the file manager in "super manager" suite. When I try to enable the root explorer function in ES file manager , I get "sorry, test failed. This feature cannot run on your device."
When I go under Device info, the ROM name does indeed say "Tweaked Modded ROM". I assume this should mean it's rooted but I'll have to dig deeper.
I appreciate your help though!

Mmm.... so the ROM came "rooted"? I've attached a root check app which I've tried on my NST. This should answer the question of root.
If root has been lost somehow, it might be possible to salvage what you have by running NookManager. If you don't want the various additions like Relaunch, you can remove those apps from the data/app folder once you've written the card and then make the other needed changes as described here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nook-touch/development/nst-g-updating-nookmanager-t3873048
Or, you could just use NM as-is and uninstall unwanted material afterwards. The important thing is root and a functioning SU.
Okay... turns out my device was NOT rooted after all; I had assumed the binaries were already installed. Fortunately, I was able to find a superSU 0.93 binary and root through CWM. I replaced cacerts.blk with yours, and now the kindle app works! At first I had difficulty logging in, but turns out Amazon was emailing me a one time password after every attempt. After entering the OTP I am now up and running.
My next issue is getting Pocket working -- I installed Read it Later 1.0.1 but it's not syncing.
Thanks for the link to your other post. I will sideload the apk's you recommended.

Might not be possible. Chatter here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604661&page=2 goes back to 2013.
I found reference to a functioning version in 9/2016. Had hoped it was a cacerts issue but maybe pocket changed their api.

Would this be what's causing my Nook to not load certain https sites?
I can get to gmail fine, but I can't for the life of me load the todoist website
Tried loading your cacerts.bks, doesn't seem like it changed anything
I had no problem getting the Todoist home page. Logging in may be another matter.
Are you using Opera Mobile and did you make the settings change for TLS 1.2?
I'm sure I'm missing something but don't know what it is.
I have a T-Mo OP6t, converted to International OOS Beta 8
TRWP installed
Magisk installed
Solid Explorer installed (paid version)
I'm trying to edit/update my HOSTS file for ad blocking but I can't.
I've tried to edit the properties of the HOSTS file in system/etc/ but the changes don't stick.
See attached thumbnails.
Any help/advise is appreciated.
Need to enable systemless hosts file option in Magisk manager, that's it.
I use adaway and do not toggle the system less switch in magisk and things work fine. I thought the system less toggle were for the modules you could download not separate sops
I use Solid Explorer all the time to modify hosts file on all my devices, inlcuding my 6T. The editor built into Solid Explorer has issues with larger files, so many larger hosts files can't be copied / pasted / saved in the editor in my experience. You can however just copy / paste / replace the entire hosts file with another one though. Just make sure the hosts file has Linux line endings, so use a Linux PC or notepad++ in Windows and use the conversion to Unix line endings and save it.

Personally I don't care for Adaway (no particular reason), I'm just quirky and prefer to use an edited HOSTS file.

Don't know what changed but AFTER installing the adfree.apk and allowing that to update the HOSTS file, I was able to copy/paste my HOSTS file like normal.
Crisis solved.

Edit the host file here, it's the one that is used when the magisk module is enabled.

Try debloating the rom. Having same issue getting error message "that there are no enough space on the system". After I removed built in system app i'm not using, all went fine after. I removed google play music, movies and other stuffs I don't use.
