Hi guys,
I have turned on wifi hotspot on my phone without any security.
If someone connects to my hotspot, I can see an ip address and Mac number.
Now what I want to know is that, can I hack into phones or computers that are connected to my hotspot. If yes, how? If not, why not?
And also, can they hack into my phone? If yes, what should I do to protect myself? If not, thank god

hm. weird. if it's off it should stay off. I don't see any auto-connect option.
is this the same as yours?
Yeah its mostly the same except I don't have the Auto Connect option

The only thing I can think of is that this may have something to do with setting WiFi to never sleep.

You have to search from the non-connected devices, not the S4
How do I do that?

Pull up WiFI on the device you want connect, and have the list of available networks displayed, your hotspot will be one of them.
Yeah then you click on it I did that and it kept telling me my password was wrong.

Verify your password on your S4 in the Hotspot options by checking the box for "Show Password"
Use WPA2 Security
Try again
If you're positive it's right, try it as an open network.
O.k. thanks!!!

Its says that the device is connected to my phones hotspot it just will not connect on my t.v. screen for my wii connection. This kinda sucks.lol

Try it unsecured
When I try to connect it says your wireless network is connected. But the local network and the Internet will not connect.

And how Can I prevent him from snooping on my phone ?

Both. It masks your ip.

Use EasyVPN and Open VPNConnect
After update g2 to kit Kat, I noticed that something was added to my IP address under network. And it remains whether phone is in airplane mode or with the wifi on. Any thoughts on what it could be?

Wow that is very interesting and scary, I had no idea. So that number just became like my social security number of the internet by which I can be tracked.

I am not sure. It kinda sucks. even if you have nothing to hide
wonder if it can be spoofed.
I know ipv6 can be turned off. And a lot of security agencies do tend to advice switching it off.

Guys, that is just an IPv6 address vs the normal IPv4 address. Apparently they are connecting you to both now.
192.0.0.4 being the IPv4 address you are familiar with.
Edit: oops. missed that someone already said it was IPv6. Sorry
