Ladies and gentlemen, any idea how to speed up my galaxy young boot time?I am just tired waiting for my galaxy young to boot and that is the reason why I don't like to reboot my phone.I know about the task mananger to manage the application when the phone reboot but haven't find the best task manager so far.The build.prop edit also didn't work for me and disable bootanimation. Please guys!!! Help meee!!!
Try a different kernel (don't ask me to recommend)
disable apps starting at boot
disable media scanning at boot
using scripts that link apps to sd card will increase boot time slightly
other than that & buying a faster phone not really much else you can do
Also if you are using a odexed ROM then it boots faster that deodexed ROM.
Dont ask me what is odex and deodex.
But generally custom ROMs are deodexed for customization.

Hi everyone,
Pretty new at flashing this phone and looked for answers for past hour to no avail.
I flashed Super Optimized Kernel 4_6_8 with odin (successfully) and when my phone rebooted, I get tons of force closes...same happens with 4_6_5. Any ideas? I'm on JL2.
it happened to me once..the solution is to re-flash your device with a stock rom, use CFroot, place the custom rom in the sd card, flash to the new custom rom and flash again with the super optimized kernel...
BTW...this thread should not be here...
this should of been moved to Q n A.....
im pretty sure u had a lagfix applied earlier, same thing happened to me especially when converting /system usually gets those FCs working hard
id recommend a fresh flash followed by SO kernal -it usually helps a lot with such matters- and use the root/tweaks/lagfix option from there and enjoy....
Looking at Adrynalyne's latest super clean for EB01, I noticed that one of the changes is the ability to add custom custom boot animations. What were the steps required to enable this? In other words, is there any method/patch that would allow custom boot animations from stock EB01? I'd prefer to start from the stock ROM and manually make all these changes myself, if possible.

I may be incorrect...but I believe there aren't any stock roms for Eb01 with boot anis rigjt now. Could be wrong..but as of last time I checked...
I'm running superclean 2.4 and it has boot animation. I think that all of his sc's since 2.3 have boot ani built in.
You would first need to flash a kernel that supported the custom boot animations, and then the animation (bootanimation.zip) needs to be in /system/media

I am running Blackhole 4.2, but I am not certain what kernel that uses - and no boot animations for me... I was trying to put them in place yesterday to no avail...
I keep seeing that things are coming when the source code gets released, but again, I am not sure if this is already doable on EB01 or not...

I believe both super clean voodoo and non-voodoo have kernels supporting boot anis. You could attempt to pull one of those and have it enabled.
Looked in Blackhole and one of the options is jt's bootanimation kernel. You may already have it, that is, if you selected it. You could also go into ROM manager and select a boot/shutdown animation.
Did you get the 4.2 file from ROM Manager or from a link here?

So the kernel needs to be rebuilt with this modification? How is this done without the source code?

I pulled it from Rom Manager... I am looking now for JT's kernel to DL outside of Rom Manager, as I am running into a brick wall when I try to flash via Rom Manager... The DL goes fine, but when I reboot the system to continue to install, it hangs forever (have given it up to 60 minutes) at the Samsung splash screen...
I ten have to pull battery and SD card to get a boot into blue recovery, and there I have to either reboot, wait and power down or pull battery, replace SD and boot...
that gets me back to where I was, but I cannot get the kernel to install via that method. I did follow the steps to make the red CWM default, replacing restore-update and update.zip... I am wondering if this is not part of the problem, but I am in over my head on that one...
if anyone looking here has a link to JT's bootanimation kernel for EB01, I'd appreciate it, as I just need to try to run it from CWM...

designed for DL30, but I have used it on EB01. Use at your own risk. It has no support for startup sounds.
many thanks!!
I installed a lockscreen and now my SGS won't boot up. It gets to the Galaxy S screen and then it just goes blank and vibrates.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Btw im no expert at this so please explain in noobish terms
Can you get in to download mode volume up home button and power
Yes, I can get into download mode and recovery mode

what does that mean?? :S
only de-odexed roms (custom roms) can apply themes, if its not de-odexed it wont work and is probably what has caused your error, if you dont know what de-odex is, you probably dont have it lol
your best bet would be to just re flash you rom.. but you will lose your apps, so hope you had a recent backup
a lesson learnt for future use
Yep I had to completely re-flash it
Any ideas on what the fastest customisation is for the SGS. I need something blazing fast for games and internet
hi!
any 1 know how can we make multi boot like on pc when you have linux and windows installed and before any system boots you can chose one of them?
sorry for my bad english
http://lifehacker.com/5826050/how-to-dual-boot-multiple-roms-on-your-android-phone the 2nd ROM is stored on the sdcard, so it is buggy and probalby not usable for daily use
ps. not sure if it works on our phone..
i used cm7 multi boot instructions and i have multi boot miui and cm7 but i have to go sbin and chose that i want to boot other rom.
Check cm7 port by genokolar. He has hes cm7 working for multiple os.
i ****ed my phone with installing genos multi sys.
now i have stock rom.
i have tried the boot manager app and it doesnt work on the X5
Ok, I'm still a noob when it comes to Android.
I have a rooted Sprint S4 on the OTA MJA update and TWRP Recovery 2.6.3.0.
I want to know how to get ROM Toolbox to perform the randomly selected boot animations I have downloaded from ROM Toolbox application itself.
What do I need to do get the random boot animations to work when the phone reboots because it is still showing the same Samsung/Sprint boot animations?
Cookbook instructions please.
TIA
I thought xda was supposed to be the place to go for help, even for noobs, guess I was wrong...not a single reply. :'(

XDA favors those who search. It's NOT a support/help site. Though most go out of their way to help those that help themselves.
Okay </preach>
So you can try starting here. This enabled me to use my cutom boot animation zips. One thing to make sure is that you have the right screen size on any images (1080 1920) you are planning on using for this device - wrong screen size can send you into a bootloop that requires a nandroid restore.
And here.
With the stock (Odexed) ROMs it is often more difficult to use custom boot animations they might not always work (or you'll have to delete the qmg files first)

Seems I am getting farther down the rabbit hole, now running TriForceROM 5.0 and that has proved to have an improved battery life.

You may need the ktoonsez kernel from the TF5.0 aroma. Then download the boot animation you want from your Rom Manager then install through your recovery, wipe cache and dalvik and fix permissions, reboot.
Haven't done this yet on TF5.0 but that's exactly how I did it on the last release. Went with the golden skull and bones. Not sure if you can get it to toss up a random one on each reboot though on the S4. Think RM was focused on a different set of phones altogether so maybe all the options in it won't play nice with the S4, just thinking out loud.
Or do what leaderbuilder said
I'm still trying to make my own, have to make time though. A lot of it.

I seem to really like the one where the android is urinating on the Apple.
