Well, we spent 299€ on this, so YES, it's worth it. Stop and think one moment...
- Quad core, 1500MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4
- 8 mpx camera, I know is not THE BEST, but is great, with good features as photosphere and hdr.
- over 330 ppi, HD IPS 4.7 inch screen
- Regular android updates
- 2 gb ram
- adreno 320 graphic processor...
for 250$ damn yes!!!

It's still a respectable phone, but you may have trouble finding it new for a good price. Google does not stock it anymore, so any ebay sellers that have one new have jacked up the price.

ah really so it's not available in google stores anymore ?

Unfortunately not. Both models are out of stock from the Play store.

The only place I know of to buy it new is the T-Mobile store, but it will run you over $425 there.

This is the only thing I like about iPhone. Price hardly goes down and you get excellent price when you sell it.
Exactly my thoughts! My Nexus S suddenly feels like a cheap phone

Interestingly thats for the s-lcd version, the s-amoled handset is still £430 on their website.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
If I wait a bit longer it will be cheaper to buy a new one that replace the cracked screen on this one (cries loudly at clumsiness)
Well, it looks like a new phone is coming soon. If I was a betting man, i'd say mid summer they'll roll out a new nexus phone. How fitting that they would quietly slide into Apples coveted summer release cycle.
I bought my Nexus S earlier this month, so I can feel the pain of anyone that watches technology grow old over night, but hey, it's not like your phone doesn't work as well today as it did yesterday, just because a faster version shows up.
A faster version is always right around the corner. If you keep waiting for the fastest one you'll be waiting a long time.
Hmm decisions decisions
jump to the new i9100 or wait for the new nexus which is probably going to be the i9100 in a different skin bit like the difference between the galaxy s 1 and the nexus s
In summer there will be a nexus tablet, not phone
Wonder if any Nexus S users could give me a little advice...
I currently have an original HTC Desire, and the usual problems are really irritating me. Currently, (as I buy sim-free), I could sell my Desire for £150, and buy a new Nexus S for £218. That means an upgrade cost of £168. As I see it...
+ Hugely better internal memory
+ Better battery
+ Better graphics chip
+ 2.3 official software (but then I'm running CM7 on my Desire so irrelevant)
+ Front facing camera
+ Wifi N
+ Good selection of custom ROMs, but not as good as Desire IMO
- Less ram
- No physical buttons
- Silly button order (minimal I know, but frustrating)
- Not really an improved camera (stills)
- No 720p video recording
- Does it have a notification light?
(Did I miss anything? )
My dilemma:
+ / - not so much a nexus s issue, but is it really worth spending all that for a phone already going out of date in the dual core age? After all, a Galaxy S2 could be had for £80 more (£400). It's a lot of money still, but not in context. The changes aren't huge with the nexus s. Surely I would be better waiting for the dual cores to go down, then buy one of them?
Today,
A new Nexus S costs £318 sim free unlocked.
A new LG Optimus 2X (dual core tegra) costs £329 sim free unlocked (but I don't think I like it)
A new Samsung Galaxy S locked to O2 costs £400.
If I wasn't going dual core, I would go Nexus S. I love it. But I'm not sure it's wise now (going single core), as £168 is a lot of money for the minimal features of a Nexus S compared to the advantages of a SGS2. Problem is, I don't have £250 for that. I could afford a nexus s, but I'm not convinced it would be a wise purchase with these new devices out? Do you not think it is worth saving for a few more months, and getting a SGS2 or HTC Sensation instead?
Convince me?

just my opinion, the nexus s is not worth the upgrade
better off just getting a g2x or a sgs2 at this point, if you can wait a few months maybe see what the new nexus will offer

[Q] Galaxy s2 vs galaxy note?

Hi dear,
I'm going to get either Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Note.
The price difference between them is quite big..
GS2 is 730 NZD and Galaxy Note is 1199 NZD(as its just released?)
Do you think galaxy note has that much worthy?
What do think guys?
Hi,
I think it depends on what you want. I have my Note since todays morning and I can say its more of a small tablet than a mobile phone.
I like it relay much because I use it mainly as a internet device as I did with my nexus one before.
Try to get hands on both devices and decide after that.

I got the note for 550 euro (950~ nzd) so not sure where you get the huge price tag from. I have both the G2 and the Note and no matter what you use it for the Note is better. The huge screen is so pleasant for anything and if you do not own a tablet it is definitely worth it the extra 150~ euro.

Oh really?
There is only one shop selling note.
Probably I shouldn't purchase anytime soon..
And I own iPad 2 so.. Probably better wait until ppl review..
Also I saw the ICS will come to Note and S2 between in April and June next year.
It's my biggest concern... Should I get galaxy nexus?
Which is faster
I want to compare them from the performance point of view which is faster?

what about the performance which one is better
Note has a faster processor so in benchmarks it's faster. Thing is both are so fast I doubt it matters. Maybe ICS has higher hardware requirements and then the notes processor upgrade might help.

In fact, they use exactly the same processor, the only difference is that on note the voltage is higher so you can get a little more mhz at the cost of battery. The SII with any mod can have the same speed.

Welcome fellow Kiwi!
I assume you are looking at MobiCity for that $1200 ($1180 right this second) pricetag? For comparison, the Galaxy SII was $1120 on day one from MobiCity, so it's not that bad.
Buuut, you can order it from Expansys for NZ$1,074 shipped and save a hundred bucks.
Basically, if you like big screens and styli, the Note blows away the SII. If you really don't mind the screen size/res, then it's just a jumbo-sized SII with a CPU speed bump to match.

Hello mate!
But I'm not Kiwi. I'm Korean who is just studying in NZ
anyway, thank you for welcoming! haha
The shop I reserve for Galaxy Note is H2phone, not mobicity.
I saw that if I ordered it from mobicity, I might have to pay for tax to NZ custom.. so I would be around 1300!! Too expensive
Actually, yeah Note is more attractive to me than GS II due to the screen resolution and slightly different design!

Even if you're not born a Kiwi, I can still claim you for our country's forum representation.
Never heard of H2Phone, actually. It was $1199 on Mobicity a day or two ago, so I assumed that was where you got the price. You make a good point about GST though. Including GST, the Expansys price is about $1235 shipped, and Clove would be about $1160. Pity I'm based in Christchurch - I'd love to be able to grab one for an even $1200 from H2Phone.
And yes, the gigantic screen on the Note is a major factor - since it would effectively replace a tablet too, and has pen input, I'm willing to shell out a bit more for it, $1200 is about my limit though. Unless the 32GB Galaxy Nexus ends up being considerably cheaper.

Hey mate!
You are so sweet! Thanks for good info.
I found one auction on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/32078378918...AX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_500wt_1287
It is selling Galaxy Nexus 32gb for only 640 USD including shipping!!!
I think I'd better wait for it.. but one problem is that
I'm going back to my home country, Korea on the 8th of Nov so
If I can't get it before the 8th, I won't be able to get it this year...t.t
as I do not want my parents to know that I spent too much money for a phone haha
anyway.... I also think the S-pen is so unique and worthy with GNote but the price..... I guess it will be dramatically dropped once I will be back to NZ.
What do you think mate?
If you were me, what would you do?
Get galaxy note on Monday morning or order galaxy nexus to Korea?
one more option... getting iPhone 4S?
Please advice me fellow!

I'd get the Galaxy Note.
At the moment, no one really knows how much the 32GB (or even 16GB) Nexus will cost, but it will probably be about NZ$1100-1150 since the 16GB model is being pegged at $1040, and won't be out for at least 3 weeks.
The Note has a bigger screen, higher res, (probably) faster CPU+GPU, and pen input for about $50 more. Not to mention dedicated buttons on the Note so you have more usable screen space all of the time.
On the other hand, the Nexus has Ice Cream Sandwich now instead of 2-3 months from now, and faster updates, it has a faster camera and.. that's about it. Unless the price comes out significantly cheaper than the Note, the Note is the better buy to me.
As for the iPhone 4S, it has a 3.5" screen. You can't get anything done on such a tiny, girly screen.
Sjael: Cool!
I made my decision. Tomorrow morning I'm gonna get Note
Yeah in terms of the spec of the Note, 2-3months or even longer doesn't really matter for ICS. Anyway it'll be surely getting it and it will look gorgeous on Note!
I have purchased so many apps in AppStore that's why I was considering to get iPhone 4s but I have iPad 2 so it'll be okay.
Thank you for really helpful advice Sjael!
Hope we can see in NZ some time soon
irrespective of what crap all are saying,,you must try galaxy note yourself,,try it yourself first,,it's too big{and i mean too big} for me,hardware is great but it's not a thing you will like to be your daily phone,,its very big so try it yourself before comparing it with anything else

Hey, I have one question..
In the other thread, the owners of GNote said it's laggy compared to Galaxy S2, is it right?
And as I said before, i play Internet with my phone quite often so the size of the Note doesn't really matter to me.
Please just let me know if it's too buggy and slower than galaxy s2.

Unfortunately it's not so easy to try it first in New Zealand, where phones typically come out 9-12 months later (if at all) than in the US/Europe, unless you import them.

Yes on a 50 a month, the device itself costs about $580 plus tax and shipping about $610, anyways the nexus 4 I will have to pay 50 a month to use it too, so nexus is $299 + $10 shipping and about $23 tax is about $342 vs $610 of the S4

Hi, $300 difference is pretty big The Nexus 4 has A S4 Pro CPU and S4, 600 Snapdragon, so added to to that you a paying 300 more for a Bigger screen, 1080p AMOLED, 13 MP camera and faster Processor also faster LTE and HSPA+
I have both phones I would not worry about specs. The N4 out performs s4 any day of the week. It also looks premium and much nicer. However it has no SD card, crappy battery life compared to s4 and even a crappier camera plus no LTE which are some major negatives. If you don't care about those things then N4 is better.
It's up to you to get the phone, Think about it, You are going to have a phone for a long time so better if you get the best instead of getting stuck with what the nexus 4 can only offer. I do have the S4 and If you have the money go for it in The long run the 300 dollars are 100% worth it. Trust me

Thanks Guys I just bought the S4!
Here is a good breakdown on the differences: http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Samsung-Galaxy-S4,Google-Nexus-4/phones/7597,7531
For me it came down to extras not justifying the expense. For others it may be worth it. Main differences IMHO are 13MP vs 8MP camera, 5" Supset AMOLED vs 4.7" IPS LCD display, microSD card slot and branded vs unbranded android.

if you like waiting forever for updates then get the s4. if u like to be on the latest and greatest version of android then get the n4. :highfive:
If I remember correctly, the gs4 may be released on the play store with stock android soon.
That said, I have an n4 on t-mobile with lte enabled & I just recently bought my mom a gs4 on Verizon. They are both very nice phones. I prefer the n4 but the gs4 is impressive as well.
I don't think you can go wrong with either phone except that a branded gs4 will inevitably suffer in the update department.
If possible, I would recommend stopping by a T-Mobile store where you should be able to play around with both phones to see if either stands out to you.
Good luck!

I wouldn't recommend the GS4 to anyone - it's a complete lagfest.
The N4, even though 6 months older still remains the fastest and smoothest phone out there.
For the price of a GS4 you could buy the Nexus 4 right now and even the Nexus 5 in Oct/Nov if Google keep their prices the same.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Snapdragon S4p and S600 are identical GPU wise and are not very far when the N4 is on an appropriate ROM with optimizations. In the benchmark thread here people score 23K+ in antutu. Anyway I would not spend over $200 more for just a alight spec bump when the nexus is a better value.

That's true. But the way I look at it is a bit different. The price difference is 300$; which is another nexus. Assuming the nexus 5 is going to be priced at $300. I will have a n4 and a n5 for roughly the same price as one s4. Regardless, you cannot go wrong with either choice. Both are great phones
Seriously who would even consider buying a Samsung device over a N4.
Even with those better specs, they mean nothing. Who cares over a 1080p screen, 13mp, and whatnot. The difference is marginal and for most not even noticable.
So save your money, buy an N4. And stop getting excited over the latest specs, because they're marginal improvements anyway.
Might as well be a fanboy and go and buy a new Apple/Samsung phone each year then and be a dipstick and waste 700 euro on phone's that are produced for less then 100 euro, just because it has something "new and ""great"" that the N4 doesn't have.
Bought my N4 last months, it has specs that will last another 2-3 years for most.
You should probably wait because there is going to be an s4 with the snapdragon 800 SoC.

[Q] Buy 32gb Nexus 7 Now, or wait for next one?

Hey guys have a question. Ive been wanting another 7" tablet for awhile now and the Nexus 7 has always been at the top of the list. And just as I was about to finally get it all these rumors and announcements of the next nexus 7 come out. As you all know Staples has the 32gb on sale right now for 199, and theres a coupon code to get another $30 off. I have one on hold and reserved for me at my local Staples. So I am trying to decide if I should wait or buy now. If its true that the new one will be 299 as some rumors speculate, then the price difference between the 2 is about $140. As far as what I need in a tablet it would be pretty basic. Games, emails, web, etc. I dont need a camera, or LTE. So theres not much of a difference between them for what I need it for. One of my main concerns though is all these people talking about the performance drops, boot issues that some are having. But I also read that it might be just the 16gb version that are having issues. So anyway I figured here is a good place to ask to get some good info and advice. TIA.
Actually my 16 gb n7 performs quite good. But wait for next one.

Well it depends on you, the new nexus will have a snapdragon s4 quad core and 1080p also, and the 16gb I believe will start at $250 but correct me if I'm wrong. I have a 32gb WiFi and it runs like a champ. That sounds like a good deal for $170 as I got my 32gb for $250 so good luck on your choice.......rumor is Taiwan will get the new nexus 7 at end of month so you could check the web to see if you like or not!
I had a 16gb and its was laggy, but I decided to get the 32gb version when I broke the 16gb and got my square trade payout. The 32gb has been great, its stable, fast, and don't even have any light bleed.

Here you go, coupon back up good until 7-21.
Let's look at the facts. The new gen it's probably coming next week, but, if the rumours are true, it should be a little mre expensive, starting at 229$ aprox. If i were you, i would wait and see, and if the new Nexus it's worth the price, i would grab that one.

Review from Android Authority

Android Authority just released there video review of the Mate 7, while they do decent reviews in a realistic way it says a lot when they gave him a "EDITOR'S CHOICE"
Nice review, this is gonna make it harder for me to choice which device i go for in 2 months from now. (Nexus 6, Note4, Mate 7)

Its a good review indeed and I'm pretty much on the same boat as you word er gek van!
The specs aren't that great compared to the note 4/nexus 6 tho.
The thing that I do like is the battery size.
I'm concerned about the software updates tho, Huawei doesn't have a good track record of that.

Yes. That announcement in the US for non-upgrade of mate 2 is disappointing.

The specs are indeed not comparable with the Note 4 and the Nexus 6, but it comes very close to them (especially when you keep in mind it is 200$/euro cheaper) and in normal day to day usage you wouldn't notice the difference anyway because in speed, screen quality the difference is to small to notice. (If you dont compare them everyday)
But also my major concern of the Mate 7 is the official update support and rom development, because when i buy a new phone/renewal contract i keep the phone for 2 years.
And if they do the same trick as they did with the "Mate 2" it would be very disappointing, an update support for 24 months on a new device (Mate 7) would be in place if they want to compete against Samsung and Apple.
And second it comes to custom rom development....when do not update the phone in a proper way (or not what i had in mind) i want to be able to flash custom roms, and while there is ROM development on different Chinese forums, i am a bit skeptical if there going to be enough development on this XDA forum.
And i have not enough free time (Father, 3 kids ) that i can make my own roms they way i did in the past on my galaxy S1.
This is my vision at the moment.
I have not decided yet, my renewal is on the first week of januari 2015 so i have almost 2 months to look where the Mate 7 development is going to

Well, the review said it's 700 dollars. That ain't cheaper than a nexus 6. Pretty expensive for the hardware you get imo.
I'm still undecided, depends if the 3gb 32 gig version comes to The Netherlands.

499 euro in the netherlands for the 2gb/16gb version and 549 euro for the 3gb/32gb version, see link below
Note 4 is 700 euro and Nexus should be around (guessing) 650 euro?
The 3 versions in dutch webshop
So yeah, the price difference isn't that much (200-300euro) if you keep in mind that i use the phone 2 years.
So i hope that the mediamarkt or another phone shop is getting the Huawei on stock so i can see and try it out in my own eyes and hands
Phonearena just did a comparison. I am disappointed with the camera tbh and was hoping for better quality but this is an area huawei are quite weak.

Thats a nice price for the 3gb version. Hopefully it will become available then. I'm not downgrading to a 2gb version, my note 3 has 3gigs of ram and it's always full.
Btw, on that site the nexus 6 32gb is listed as cheaper at 449 euro.

Good prize for the Gold in 3 Go of ram and 32 Go of memory but not in stock ... it's a real dual sim or only european 1 sim ?
What's happening with the warranty on this site and full compatible in Belgium with Base, Mobistar or Proximus ?
Hi all, and especially the Dutch posting here :highfive:
I've been considering this phone ever since I heard about it. I've got big hands and love the wideness of the Note 3. Most phones are long, but slim. The Mate7 is even a little bit wider, and has smaller bezels. Sounds perfect! That it doesn't have the best hardware doesn't bother me that much, if the batterylife is half of what it seems to be.
Has anyone gotten their hands on one of the Mate7's, preferably with 3GB RAM, and know how it's batterylife is doing? And if in Europe, where did you order yours? What would be a good shop?

The battery life is awesome, 4100 mHa! You can order the international version at Amazon DE France, for 2 GB RAM L09 version. We have sold units 3 GB RAM TL10 version to Holland and it works perfectly there.
Thanks for your reply! Do you know when the black 3GB version will be released? The gold doesn't really appeal to me. The live chat at liaow told me it could take a couple of weeks.

Our HUAWEI lady said not in a month or so. The silver version is running as limited production now. Really, the Gold looks very nice in hands, confirmed by several forum members (who also are our customers).
The Gold version is also OOS and the situation will last till Mid December. In this month, HUAWEI will deliver 1.4 M units to China Mobile, China TeleCom, and China UniCom. So the premium version, 3 GB ROM 32 GB RAM version, will be limited manufactured.
Glad to hear T-Mobile and AT&T LTE work on it..
