[Q] "SIM card removed. Reboot phone" error keeps appearing and disappearing - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been getting the following pop up message ever since the first day I got the phone. I sent my phone for servicing on the third day and replaced my microSIM card on the fourth day and it is still appearing. Does anyone has the same problem as me? I also noticed that the reception is lower after the Samsung service center did a factory reset on my phone. Is it a known error or I bought a faulty device? Should I go back to the telco and request for an exchange? Please advise!
P.S. The pop up box will sometimes appear for many times for a few minutes and then suddenly stopped appearing even though I didn't move/touch my phone at all (other than clicking the "OK" button).

If it were me I would exchange it for a new device.
This message appears when there's a disconnection between the phone and the sim card.
In my note 2 I would get that message with a faulty dual_sim adapter, when switching between Sims.

Hmm... I certainly hope that my telco will allowed me to change the phone. >.<

Exchange. Looks like you got a lemon.

I am seeing this same issue too. Any solution, like changing the SIM card?

I exchange for a new device and that fixed the problem.

So you went down to Samsung Service Centre to exchange?

At my telco...

Oh dear. I am now seeing the error again. Sometimes my Note 3 will restart by itself too. >.< Does anyone has this problem and have successfully resolved it?

Duplicate Text Messages

Hi all,
I just got a Nexus 4 and am using a prepaid T-Mobile Sim with the 100 minutes unlimited data/messaging plan. Everything is working great except I am receiving duplicate text messages most of the time someone messages me. I was wondering if there is an APN setting or something else I can do to try and fix this annoyance. Was wondering if anyone else was having this issue.
Thanks.
My friend had this same issue.
The way we fixed it was power off the phone, take out the sim, power back up, leave the phone for 5 min, and then power back off.
Popped the sim back in and it was fixed.
When I see them next I'll ask to check their APN to make sure.
Hope this works for you.

Is it from people who are on various networks? Sounds like it could be a problem on their end. Every once in a while I'll get duplicate texts from people on MetroPCS, or Sprint if their networks are on the fritz. So try to have people from different networks text you and see if you still have the problem,

Same problem with T-Mobile germany... Senders are in different networks. I am receiving single messages up to 8 times. This happened on the i9250 nexus before, too. Same number, different sim card, different phone. Maybe related to cyanogenmod 10.0/10.1, as i never experienced that issue in stock. (To be honest, i was never long in stock Rom). The Problem occurs most times Ehen the phone is rebooted, or comes out of flight mode.
Which roms are you using ?

In general it's usually because of the sending party. Did you port your number also as that does cause it most of the time?
Nope, i just got a new sim card from my provider. I am a t-mobile customer for 14 years now, and never ported that number to another carrier.

Not sure if you have noticed this, but it seems to happen when I briefly lose service. When I get signal back I have noticed that is when I am getting the duplicates. I've only been on T-Mobile for a few days after I ported my number from Verizon.

AW: Duplicate Text Messages
I made a support ticket @t-mobile germany. They told me, that this must be a bigger problem related to the network itself. The next time it happens they want me to call them and provide time of failure and number of sender to them.
But, it didn't happen again, yet.

How do you fix it? I ported my number from verizon but it just recently started happening (maybe the last few weeks),. Using PA, most updated version.

Samsung customer service..(rant!)

Samsungs customer service is a joke, wrote the voice of the customer (samsung website) a lengthy email and I get back a canned response that doesn't even address my concerns. In this day and age you would believe a company would actually want to keep customers

What was the problem I'm curious. I did a chat with Samsung and they told me a bunch of things to do that you tell clueless people, like restart your phone or factory reset. The worst part is he told he never heard pf anyone complaining about the issue I was describing. Yet there are threads all over the internet about it. It's pathetic.
One thing I absolutely loved about Apple is that you walk into their store, you show them a legitimate problem and you walk out with another phone. No BS no runaround no nothing. That's the only thing I miss and I miss it a lot.
I'm with you techweed, I'm having the dreaded wifi is unstable message, the first tech support rep admitted it's a software issue and to deal with it. The last samsung rep said to send it in and be without a phone for five days. I tried to tell them they can't fix this since it's a software issue but they said the same thing to me about not having ever heard about this issue. I'm so close to going back to apple it's not even funny

If they made a phablet I would seriously consider going back barring some incredible device being released by one of the Android manufacturers.

I thought we established that this method does not work for everyone?
The funny thing is that the unstable wifi issue started occurring after a few days, not right away. Can someone provide a technical explanation why it's happening? I've never had this issue in any Samsung phone.

worst customer service
the galaxy note 3 is wonderful machine
BUT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST EVER
AND NEED DECADES TO REACH THE LEVEL OF APPLE CARE
since i bought my galaxy note 3, i have the problem of overheat... which is very known
i visited so many times reparation center in my city
and send it to the main reparation center in Paris
and after one month waiting ... they return the phone fter resetting it only... WTF
and when i saw my wife iphone who had the same problem and being replaced after one call only and within 3 days... i'm really wanna throw this phone to nearest garbage...
more than 3 months have been passed and over 15 times call to customer service
and 9 times went to reparation center including once to main one...
to end by defected phone and can't be use more than 2 - 3 minutes...
Guess what? ALL "Customer Service" is a joke. In fact, customer service no longer exists. Welcome to 2014.

[Q] Note 3 random powers down

For about a Week my note 3 started to just power down. Sometimes it happens when I deactivate the lock screen or it might happen when Im just using my phone.
I have updated it to kitkat N9005XXUENB3_N9005OXXENB1_XEO and have tried other custom roms and it still is doing the same. PLEASE any advice would be awesome!
thanks in advance.

Try FULL wipe (Including wiping internal sd) and then reflash the ROM and see if it still continues, if it does... You might have to take the device in for servicing.
Thanks for the reply. I have triped knox so how can i take it in for a service? Could it be anything else apart from a hardware fault?? Thanks
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Still trying to find out if this is a hardware issue or softwear. Any tips guys?
Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk
Well, if it will be a real problem than you should still take it into service, maybe that guy will forget to check the knox.
I'm starting to notice that I'm not getting no power downs when the charging lead is pluged in the phone.
Might it be a battery issue? If so how much does one cost for a note 3?

I had the same problem with my n7100 a few months ago.
the problem was, that one of the 4 battery contacts was a bit dirty (dont ask how this happened :silly, so a hard (or less hard) shake of the phone could interrupt the contact for a moment and the phone restarted.
I know its unlikely, but better check it before sendind it to the service
Yes it's working fine now for a few days....got a tooth pick and cleaned the contacts and everything is all fine.
Going to order another battery for backup also.
Thanks guys.
