Stable ROM? - Acer Iconia A500

i'm looking for a nice stable & reasonably up to date ROM for the A500, any suggestions?

Either of the two 4.3 ROMs are stable insomuch as they don't crash. Most (but not all) users seem to have no stability problems. Main issues tend to be bluetooth or wifi related. I'm on pj's (build 5) right now and the only issue I have is one of my games has some graphics issues. That's more likely an issue with the game, though. I find this ROM to be more stable than the last 4.2.2 ROM I was on.

I tried the 4.3 ROMs from Randomblame, Pjsports, and Thor. Pj's is the best. I gave him a mic fix....don't see why he hasn't implemented it yet...but if you want a nigh bug free 4.2 ROM, use Thor2002ro's 4.2 ROM on tegraowners.com:good:

Been on thors 4.2 for a while now. I tried a couple of the 4.3 roms but nothing was stable enough to use ongoing.

Same question a OP except I have an A501. I need a stable ROM with 3G working (and preferably everything else too, though I don't really need the dock). Should I be looking at a stockish ICS instead of JB?

Yea but some people (like me) have issues with the root and uncontrollable lag of the tablet. I heard Thor fixed it in one of his newer builds. Will check it out soon.

JellyBro vs JellyBelly

Hi,
Can anyone tell me which, for the moment, is better to a daily use? Which is smoother, stable?
Thanks..

Running JellyBro at this moment and it's very much to my liking Haven't tried JellyBelly, but I believe that not everybody likes it as he restricts flashing different kernels unless you first remove a script.
How about kalim's cm10 build?

Been running that one for a week (v0.6) Wish there was a newer version though as that one contained some bugs.
Can't say yet which one is more smooth, Kalim or Jellybro.
Edit: just saw that V1.2 is already there lol on G+ think I will flash that one for now ^^ and wait for Rascarlo to finish his rom

LMAO, you trolling here? You knew from the very beginning that Jelly Belly was blocking other kernels.
I'm running JellyBelly 1.0.0 and it is very, very stable and fast. While it's fine to note that the dev locked down the kernal you should also note that this is specifically so he can fight bugs a little better.
Great rom, definitely recommend it!

Right. Maybe I'm new or ignorant or something but I understand the urge to keep things open and flash super cool kernals or whatever but using this method you can do what you want, but like always don't go to the dev with issues if you flashed your custom kernal.
Like I said though... great ROM, very stable, highly recommend it!

Been using Jelly Belly for about a week without problems and i would say it's ready for daily use. Hadn't had any reboots, FC's or other crazy stuff..i value stability with the basic functions such as phone calls and messaging and it hasn't let me down so far on that part. As for the kernel lockdown, it's a small price to pay for stability so i don't mind personally but i know some in here have taken a almost religious stance about it. However, you can still remove the limitation afaik and if not there are plenty of other ROM's to choose from
I'm using JellyBelly since 0.1.5 and i can say it run really smooth with thalamus kernel. Since it's already stable, i will just stick with it.
My favourite kernel before this is Air Kernel but since i didn't have problem with JellyBelly + kernel provided i don't think i'll need to flash Air Kernel. I might change kernel if there's new feature in other kernel.
So i recommended JellyBelly with it provided kernel as your daily rom.

Jellybelly 1.0 has the kernel restriction hard coded in it. Not the init d script.
You will not be running another kernel on it until he removes that.
And screw this thread. Try out the Roms for yourself.
I switched from jelly belly to cm10 jelly bro and really like it. Battery life seemed to take a hit after one of the nightlies so I did a clean install of the next and just put went back to the trinity kernel and things seem to have improved.
Jellybelly has been good to me, amazing screen on battery life (4+ hours daily w/ games most of it) smooth and stable
Jelly Belly powered Nexus S
As good as JellyBelly has been for me, it appears as though he's stopped development over all the *****ing. I guess it's time to start looking for another rom again.

He must be going through a tough time, or just simply got sick of it ether way it's not the end of JB just yet.

[Q] How's Jellybean?

To those of you using JB on the MT4G: how is it? Stable? Good enough to be a daily driver? Everything important working for you?
I'd love to flash JB on my MT4G but I'm not sure if it's stable enough yet and the ROM threads are long and winding enough that I have trouble following them. I have a phone with the dodgy eMMC chip so I'd rather not spend all day flashing ROMs to try them out myself and possibly killing my phone in the process. I'd love to find a JB ROM that has all major features working and is close to stock JB (I don't like too much bling in my ROMs).
Thanks!

I'm using 0.0's Jellybean port based off the Desire S and it's been going good for the past few hours. Everything works for me, well except that front facing camera. That doesn't work on Jellybean yet. Dropping down the MPs in the camera removes the green line. I also do have the bad eMMC chip but I've been flashing almost every week to see which one is the best for me. I love ICS, especially Synthetic.Nightmare's ROM but Jellybean is getting better so I might try that for a week see how it goes.

JB is great if you don't really need video recording and FFC.
It's stable enough for a DD.
I was using CNA for awhile and then I used Awesome's Toasted Marshmallow since release.
Rocking 0.0's desire S port since he posted it... Loving it so much that I haven't even bothered flashing anything else.
Rock solid on my device. Just need ffc really... But we all know about that.
JB rocks.

There are other viable options than 0.0's ROM like Awesome's Toasted Marshmallow, which many people run and have success as their daily driver. It's really your choice!

I've tried many of them, but I personally like Toasted Marshmallow from ...Awesome... It is a very stable ROM. A couple of items that don't work are Front Facing Camera (FFC) and Wifi Calling, but those are not an issue with the ROM, they are more akin to not having an official JB kernel for the MT4G. I'm anxious for Wifi Calling to get released on another JB ROM so we can port it. Good luck with whichever ROM you decide on.
For those who tried both ICS and JB, how would you rate JB compared to ICS? Much faster and more stable? Currently I'm running on Awesome DarkUnicorn 2.5 and it is very good except for: 1. some camera apps from the market won't work 2. USB tethering doesn't work.

Thank you. So I guess once 3.0 is out, JB would be better than ICS? I didn't experience any UI lag on my ICS. So I guess I will stay on ICS for now.

No. Once 3.0 is fixed to work as well on our devices and all the jb optimizations are added in, THEN jb will surely be better than ics. As is, comparing the UI of jb to ics (aospx) I noticed no difference in UI. Though some people swear its buttery smooth and soo much better... even though its running a 2.6 kernel optimized for ics (not jb)... the only thing I've found to be smoother in jb is the browser.

So... Is there a single completely usable ROM out there?

I've flashed almost 10 different ROMS now ever since the Asus ICS update and I'm still getting issues with SOD, RR, rapid battery drain, and/or wifi crashing after deep sleep. I just want my TF101 back. I don't care about Google Now... I just want a usable tablet!!!
You are flashing roms to rid yerself of an issue caused by a kernel?......If the rom You flash doesnt have a custom kernel you won't be solving any kernel issues....
In Short, flash a different kernel.....
Stock has been great for the 3 transformers in our family..
Go back to GB and spend a week on it and see if it does the same.. If so. Then you really have problems

Rapid battery gain when you turn on wifi and watch video with high bright
wifi crash will be off after deep sleep only got in some ROM not alot, and they had been solve them. If you used any rom u must follow other posts.
I didnt got any issue like that becos i update kernel usually and I follow someone instruction.
recently I used EnergyROM and its make me happiest so maybe no more change ROM... I used 20 or over and I did got those issues like u when i keep update ROM and Kernal...
PS used ES Task Manager when u done any work and click on its widget to clear memory its make RR rate lower
To me cm9 works best... I wanna upgrade to jb but all have problems... cm9 is close to jb.. since some jb features are ported to ics...

Android Revolution HD 3.4.2 is the most stable rom for me. Don't know if you can still get such an old version, though.
I have tried EOS and 3 variations of CM10 (Raymans unofficial stable, Paranoid, LiquidSmooth). I like them all but EOS + KAT 47B gives me no issues to complain about (right now on 79 anyway). The others - last time I tried them - seem to have poorer wifi reception (and I don't mean just a matter of "bars"), occasionally lose wifi after re-awakening, and sketchy-to-non-existent GPS.
Truthfully, the EOS build works well enough for me that I could really care less if ASUS does an official JB upgrade at this point. Smooth, as robust as stock ICS when I left, stock browser working fantastic. I am on build 79 right now, probably upgrade to newer version if/when 4.2 features added.
I was set on getting myself a new tablet for Christmas, but after flashing EOS JB I have no more desire to upgrade to a newer tablet. It does everything I want it to, significantly better than when I bought it.

holy ****, that did it! EOS and KAT are rock solid!
there are many roms with cool features and stuff but in terms of stability i find stock asus rom the most stable.
If you want the tablet to just work, stick with stock based ICS ROM. That means.... the Energy ROM, ARHD or Revolver.

[Q] Best Rom out there currently for TF101?

Hey guys, as you all can see I am "VERY" New here. I have been on this thread for 2 years now, and just now decided to make a Account.
Anyways away from me, and more to my TF101.
I am searching the Development Section of this Forum for the TF101, and can't find a Solid Rom for my TF101.
Any suggestions? I am currently on "Caliber 4" and It likes to Lag out of no where, and I experience slower performance over all.
So how about you guys Help a Comrade out?
Also if you could, could you list some "Possible" Bugs with the Rom? Thanks.

I'm also using team EOS with kat kernel 47b and you're right, it's very stable. I've been using it for 2 weeks now and I have no complain at all. It's significantly faster and smoother than stock ICS...
Just install flash player. I am using Firefox beta with flash player and everything is working good.
Currently flopping between Mattmanwrx's Paranoid Android and Energy Rom by NRGZ28.....
Have to say im pleasantly surprised by Energy (i.c.s).....i was expecting it to be laggy compared to Jellybean but its not (apart from coming out the app drawer.....slightly)
Looks mint, performs amazingly - a well rounded experience!
Nice to be back on official based Asus for a change - and i feel that apart from ARHD, its going to be well supported unlike the other i.c.s roms.
As for stability and performance on Jellybean then i have to agree EOS is your best bet.....i just like how PA worked for me and the developer is really helpful.
Tough call....just try them all out

I'm using Revolver 4 by Gnufabio (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1518768) and it runs very smooth and with a bit overclocking even smoother (1.5 ghz). I haven't recognized any bugs in two weeks now. It is based on ICS from ASUS but it's much better in performance compared to the stock rom. No reboots, no FCs just TF101 performing nice. I had problems watching 720p videos but now it's lagfree (using MXPlayer). The battery life is almost the same as with the stock ASUS rom. Give it a try, it is perfect for me, even without jellybean.

What ROM is everyone using as their Daily Driver?

Hey Guys!
I am pretty new to the world of flashing ROMs, and am trying to experiment as much as I can! I recently rooted my phone (myTouch 4g) to escape the HTC Sense bloatware and kind of escape the gingerbread environment and use custom ROMs that people have developed. Of course, I've had my phone since 2010, and its been working great since. Not looking forward to getting a new phone anytime soon (it does what I want it to do well).
That being said, I currently am experimenting out CM7.2, was curious to hear what ROMs people who use the myTouch 4G as their daily drivers use. I am considering trying out one of the ported CM10.1 ROMs later tonight.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you guys!
~Darkgiants
Last Cyanogenmod 7 nightly.
I might also recommend Coderzs 4.2.2 Slimbean, Team Inferno's ShenduOS 4.2.1, or my AoCP 4.2.2 lol.
For ICS I recommend Synthetic Nightmare's AOSPx. Also I'm porting a CyanogenMod7 Type of rom, but with more features
Whatever I tried to install on it (including few JB-based ROMs) I always go back to CM7. Anything else is either less stable or uses battery or something is not working well (like camera on JB).

I use Albinoman's 8/24 build of AOSP 4.3 / CM 10.2. It has a few very minor issues but in daily use I find it's very stable...
too stubborn
Too stubborn to use CM7 I fought installing it and keep working with SlimBean 4.3 even though it is still buggy, well mostly for me. I should just back down to 4.22, but hmm here comes that stubborn issue.
I was on a small vacation, and now am about ~7 days till I move into my college dorm and start my college life. Here are few things I figured I should mention:
I am currently using the CM10.1 AOSP JellyBean ROM by albinoman887 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=40665477), so far, its been awesome!
Though, there are few concerns about this ROM as a daily driver:
1. The battery life, it really does die out way too fast. It obviously is a concern for me, being in college, I would like to have something mobile and something that can last me an entire day without having to plug my phone into a charging unit. Of course, I was not expecting a perfect ROM for battery life that would be capable of running the latest Android, so all in all, the battery issue evens out, and should not be a shocker to anyone trying out the ROM.
2. I currently am running everything off of a 8GB Micro SD card, which is now full (I am waiting for my 32GB card to come in within the next few days), but when I do use apps such as SnapChat, or Instagram, it prevents me from using my camera with various errors every time. I suspect this to be the full SD memory card, I will make sure to post an update on this issue.
3. The ROM itself is FAST. I mean FAST. It really sets a definition of "multi-tasking" on the myTouch 4G.
There is a new September update for this ROM (I am going to install this update once I get my new SD card) and will also touch on how the update is, and what was resolved. As of right now, this ROM is beautiful, does require a bit of elbow geese to configure the settings to your likings, but that is the payoff.
I have tried CM7 briefly, escaped the ROM, its the most stable ROM anyone can ask for, but I personally don't want to go back to Gingerbread.
Thanks a lot XDA forums for allowing the opportunity to mess with our phones!
I bought myTouch 4g about 2 years ago. Sense Rom was installed for most of its lifetime; mysense (stock), Sense 3, then Sense 3.5, and now sense 4.1. Currently using ViperTouch 2.1.4 sense rom it is the most stable sense rom I found where all the hardware are functional. Battery life has not bad when keeping in 2G mode. I switch it to 3G with I need to browse something. Before ViperTouch I used CM 10.1 from albinoman887 for about 3 month to try out JB, it was really smooth and clean lightweight. I decided to go back to Sense after headphone heatup, camera and mic not working properly. I tried out CM 10.2 Android 4.3 albinoman887, it was smooth for the most part, but i couldn't use it as daily driver same 10.1 issues were resolved. So Sense 4.1 ICS is my current daily driver.

I am using AOCP now but currently looking for a bug-free ROM.
As far as I know, there are still a few bugs in 4.2.2 including:
1. Headset heat up when plugged in.
2. Green line in camera.
3. Signal drop after a missing call.
4. Camera flash delay.
Is there any 4.1 and above ROM without those problems? Please let me know. 1. and 3. is really annoying to me. Thank you!
I am using PAC rom . it's really awesome

I think AoCP only has the Signal Drop?

Yes, but it's a little bit annoying so I'd go back to a bug-free version
And somehow the game I'm playing (Rage of Bahamut) doesn't display right in some screen.
Tried ShenduOS and everything looks great. Until I find the 'phone' is not working, lol.
Hey guys!
So, I have been rocking this current ROM for a while now! I must admit, I've had few problems recently, but so far it works and gets the job done. I am now in the process of debating if I should revert down to one of the most stable ROMs for this phone (CM7.2) or to continue rocking this current ROM and try to see if I can help in terms of fixing current issues.
My classes start tomorrow! I will post an in-depth update on my issues this weekend!

Keep an eye on N_otori0us_, he's been really making some moves trying to fix 1. 2 you usually see patches from OP's in thier thread to fix it.
At least you don't have the screen flicker bug also.

If you see a bug in my roms. Tell me lol.
There's a fix for green line that coderzs made. And the. 64 is a temporary fix for the headset heat.
Not sure what else to fix though...

putting work in
I was referring to how you are trying to fix the headset issue overall, not how you have any bugs in your roms.
Now I've been using PACman_GLACIER 19.3 for 2 weeks. Very stable, fast and no bug (except sometimes when it boots up, Link2SD notifies me to hot reboot to make SD partition mount)
You should check out the links in this thread.

Especially those of you who like ViperTouch. They are from a Chinese forum so you'll need to translate but the ROMs can be set to English on setup.
I might call it an end with my current ROM... it is currently becoming way too unstable for my abilities as a daily driver. Current issues include:
1. Battery life - I literally drop from 100% to 60% in a matter of 2 hours only using Wi-Fi for browsing the New York Times.
2. Phone screen flickers when locked (may be linked to battery life)
3. Certain apps that require a camera just do not cooperate
4. Green like in all pictures + picture quality not the same versus when the ROM was installed freash
5. Crashes and freezes a lot
Overall, this ROM was good, but as time progressed, its performance decreased as well.
Currently about to try Albinomans latest Jelly Bean ROM, or even try out the AoCP rom!
