Hi, I boguht my Note 3 N9005 from UAE. I want to insure it in the uk. What is the best mobile/gadget insurance in the UK? Thanks
Most places won't accept it as it's been bought outside of the UK, at least for the places I've insured mine with in the past. My current insurance is exactly the same too. Has to be from a UK company, invoiced, with the imei listed etc, etc...

Some bank accounts (the ones where you pay a monthly fee) come with extras like Travel/Phone/Home emergency insurance and Breakdown cover. Mine just asked for the IMEI number, up to £1000, No questions.
The banking fee works out significantly cheaper than separate cover I would pay for all the extras I get.
Worth looking in to IMO.
Are there any companies that insure devices not bought from uk?

Can all the people who bought one post where and how much you paid for it. so others can purchase. ive searched google but all i get is the regular version .
thanks
Purchased a few phones and other things from here and can say they provide an easy and fast transaction, though dont know about International warranty and just a small word of caution Techoni are another large retail site but their customer service is bloody awful to say the least!
I bought mine of Ebay.
I wouldn't recommend using ebay if you're new. But if you have experience with Ebay then buy your phone from there by all means.
Recently I've seen Touch HD's go for about $900 AUS b.new in box on ebay.
That's way cheaper than any retailer that I know of.
Hell i got my Telstra one cheaper than any retail price here in Canada (all of them are selling the T8282 version rather than the T8285).
Bought mine on ebay as well. www.ebay.com.au This is an Aussie ebay site specifically to Australia. You still need to verify that it is an telstra touch hd you are getting. The T8285 and not a UK or Asian T8282 version. Let them know were you are from and if they will sell it to you from outside of Australia. I checked with five different sellers and three would sell to me in the US. I ended up getting one for $1070 AU dollars or around $730 US dollars. I ended up paying around $55 US dollars for Fedex priority international shipping and It got here in about 4 days.
Here is a link for one on ebay.au for $1000 AU which is about $686 US and it is a 850 mhz/T8285 version.
Again, a lot of the touch hd's on the Aussie ebay site are still T8282 UK versions. You have to do some digging to find out which one it is.
Love my telstra touch hd.
I bought mine from personaldigital9 on ebay and paid a little under $900 for it. I got received it in about three days super fast shipping. Very good seller.
Telstra
Directly from Telstra $1098
I also bought mine from personaldigital9, but i called and ordered over the phone... mine arrived in 3 days as well and is working great!

As a Corporate Customer Telstra give us discount pricing over the full retail pricing so yes our outright price is less than the advertised price of $1499.
I bought a Telstra T8285 from an Australian eBayer. He is selling brand new phones for $1000 AUD (around $800 USD) right now. The price is still negotiable. The guy responds to your questions nicely and quickly, and the shipping is fast too. If you are interested, please send me email at [email protected]
Thanks,
Frank

Newegg.com or amazon have it.
The cheapest is probably expansys-usa.com They usually have a $10 off coupon, I think there still might be one. Making the total price $650.
Try LSJULY10 for July.
got it for 160€ at 3 (Provider) with a 18months contact
(20€: 1000text/1000min tel, unlimited internet + about 30 channels mobile tv)
all costs together it costs mi 520€ (exerything included).
Handtech, from the UK. That way I have a UK warranty if anything goes wrong ;-) was like 660$ including shipping. Americans don't pay "VAT".

Hi all,
I can get my hands on one in the States - but does anybody know if the 1 year warranty is international?
Thanks,
Keith.
I believe it will be a US warranty.
can you buy an aftermarket warranty? I bought one from squaretrade, that's probably US only, but there must be something for your country.
I bought mine in a US Best Buy and they assured me that the warranty was valid (with them rather than Samsung) in the UK Best Buy stores.
There is no international warranty. I've emailed Samsung and they said that warranty will only apply to country that you purchased it from
I live in the uk and recently brought a 10.1 tab back from the states. I had a problem 3 days in and contacted samsung. The info i got was that they may be able to fix it in the uk but you'd have to pay for it so i ended up sending back to the US. Parts and labour are covered but postage isnt. Cost me £16 to send it and about £30 for them to send it back.
I was recently in the US and I was told by Best Buy USA that if I purchase their warranty/protection it is good internationally. I did not enquirer further or check on a price.
I decided to wait on my purchase until it becomes available in Canada so I can get the warranty.
If GT 10.1 is purchased from Costco USA you have 90 days from purchase date to return it to ANY Costco. That's a possible option.
Sorry to hijack. Useful info on the warranty. Am heading to Vegas next month, would I be able to just walk in to a Best Buy and pick up a SGT - as in stock wise there is no issues over in the US? Would that be the cheapest place to pick one up?

You might want to order online from bestbuy.com for store pick-up (international orders now accepted). This will ensure the item is in the store should you decide to go. Store stock can fluctuate, no guarantees there. Don't forget to order the USB adapter if you think you wil need this feature. It would not hurt to fire off an e-mail to bestbuy to check on their international warranty.
Bestbuy will usually price match, so if you do find an advertised price they will match it. The only sale I have seen is from Staples and they offer an on-line or in-store coupon.

US Warranty
Here is the Samsung US site warranty page (32GB model).
SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS AMERICA, INC.

I could not find anything regarding an intenational warranty.
Hi. I bought a 32gb wifi tab in Vegas 3 weeks ago. Love it but it now has the newtons rings problem. I called Samsung support uk who promptly said my tab wasn't covered under the uk warranty.
Then called the us warranty service centre who said they would fix it but could not give me a service code as I didn't have a us postal address. They then gave me the international warranty telephone number but haven't tried it yet.
Does anyone have any ideas to get a replacement / fix?

That's odd, i called samsung support in the US and they can't put you on their system as it can't handle uk addresses. If they accept it's a problem then ask for a service order number. You will then need to call their warranty provider - a company called intellisol. Quote them the service order number and send it off to them. You cant do anything without the order number from samsung tho.
Samsung singapore is quite still clear that Samsung Singapore does not support international warranty. They specified this several times on their FB page.

Well I have a US tablet and im in UK and just sent it in for repair for the newton rings on the screen.
I am quite sure they will send it back to me unrepaired saying that it is a US device and I should send to the US - but in the meantime I have sent.
The US Support told me I should send there - but it is a lot of money to ship and they need a US address to return the goods whichis a bit of a nightmare.
Will keep people posted to see what happens.
I am from Australia and was on a recent trip to america, I purchased a Gtab 10.1 at Best Buy and they do have international warranties, it cost me 170$ for 2 years though =/
Anyone recommend a reputable online dealer that has the SGS 2 and at a competitive price?
Amazon and Newegg both have it around $575...
Anywhere else that is as reputable?
I got mine from expansys usa the first week they were out in UK and available in the US, you can save a few bucks and they are reputable in my book (this is my only transaction with them but you can read on your own)
a lot of us that bought the international SGS2, got it from Expansys-USA.com. worth a look.
If you buy the phone in the U.S. (from anyone, regardless of what they claim) it'll have no warranty as Samsung considers any product purchased outside its country of intended sale "grey market." Expansys-USA gets around that by sending the phone back to the UK for their U.S. customers should it need repair under warranty. You can also buy from Clove and Hantec in the UK as both ship to the U.S. It's $612 delivered from Clove right now and since it's purchased in the UK it retains the 2-year global warranty.
If not worried about warranty, then Amazon is pretty good. Also you can look at mobilecityonline.com from where I bought the white sgs2. You will get the new white sgs2 for $539 after $20 off coupon.

Expansys, my first order with them, but very happy with the transaction. Will use them for Galaxy Note.
Does mobilecityonline.com honor the warranty for an SGS II?
Or, is it only Clove and Expansys only?
I got mine from Expansys USA on June. Pretty quick delivery and no complaint about them.
I got my Sony X1 from Clove UK long time ago. Very good service and fast delivery too.
My friend brought one from Amazon recently but found it's being used (stated as new). So beware on for Amazon seller.
Great options mentioned so far. OP, if you are ok buying the locked AT&T version, it is $550 before taxes without contracts. This phone would probably be better "tuned" for the network, and would come with warranty.
P.S. sorry if my suggestion is too obvious

No. Technically, the phone bought at Expansys-USA doesn't qualify either. They get around that by shipping it to their branch in the UK should it ever need repair. If they go out of business (unlikely) your warranty would go with them as they're acting as an itermediary. The only way to get an "official" warranty is to buy the product from an authorized reseller in its intended country of sale.
Hi, I want to pre order the note 3 and i live in the uk. On clove.co.uk they are selling note 3 for £495 excluding vat. When I put my address in then it makes it £600! But if I choose any other country then it is still £495. Is there any way to avoid this ridiculous vat charge?
thanks in advance.

Nope, that's how our tax system works. Not charging VAT, or not passing it to HMRC, would be tax evasion.

Yes there is get someone living in vat exempt country to order for you then post to you.lol
Another method you can reclaim the VAT that you pay when you buy goods or services for your business.
You risk paying even more if customs pick it up:

I'm buying this for my mum and she has a hearing disability. Therefore can she claim vat back? According to HMRC you can.

I doubt if a phone would qualify but you never know. You would need to speak to Clove and ask if they are able to supply it zero rated. You wouldn't need to claim the VAT back, the rate would be zero percent.

I wonder how much the price will drop after release.
