I have a 1337m gs4 and am currently on beanstalk 4.3 and love it.I was waiting for the kit kat canadian 4.4 rom version to come out and it did.
I installed the rom and it went on ok, but after the beanstalk screen finally loaded igot the messages unfortunately the process com google process location has stopped. it also says unfortunately the set up wizard has stopped. ive looked through the whole thread and cannot see anything regarding using a special kernel unless i have missed something, and the checksum was ok . has anyone encountered this?
Just received brand new Note 3 with Kit Kat pre-installed. I have heard nothing but bad things about KK so I would like to downgrade back to Jelly Bean (4.3.x).
I understand I have to root the device first (going to use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2543386 to root the device). I just want to make sure it is actually feasible before I resign to the fact that I am stuck with KK. If it is possible, can someone walk me through the process...or provide a link to a guide?
EDIT: Just realized I cannot use the referenced link to root this device since that was for JB (4.3) not KK (4.4). Looking for a thorough KK root guide now.
EDIT #2: Baseband Version: N900VVRUCNC4 / Kernel Version: 3.4.0 [email protected] #1 Mon April 28 16:42:37 KST 2014 / Security Software Version: MDF v1.0 Release 2
your stuck. can't downgrade unless you are looking for a paper weight. ☺

Has anyone used the following steps to successfully root the Note 3? It's from a non-XDA site so I do not know the validity of this info.
- Install the towelroot installer (tr.apk) on your phone.
- Run the it[sic] from the app drawer, there’s only one button, just tap on it to start.
- The rooting procedure should begin, wait a while until your phone reboots on its own.
- After the phone wake up, now install SuperSU from Play Store, but make sure the version is v1.99r4 or newer, otherwise, download the flashable SuperSU, unzip it then grab the Superuser.apk from common folder.
- Run run the SuperSU app, let it set up su binaries for the first time. Once done, your Verizon Note 3 runs NC4 should rooted now.
Hi XDA i was hoping someone could help me on the right direction helping me root my Galaxy S5 and flash a custom rom , i have tried several tutorials online without success , after CF-Auto Root phone screen will go dark , flashing custom recovery on Odin also screen will go dark being my only option to put my S5 into Dowload Mode and Flash Stock Rom again ... Seems like there is a new type of security that won't allow me to root, flash custom recovery and custom rom...
I have purchased my Unlocked Galaxy S5 2 months ago with Three network in UK and had already done 2 OTA Updates ...

Reactivation lock should be untick in security option when you trying to root also USB debug on & untick Verify apps with USB in the developer option.

I did all that
Could you try flashing an old firmware for your phone, and then using the methods to root and flash your phone to a new ROM. I'm not sure if this method will work, just wait for someone who can verify this method.
The best thing you can do right now is to wait, because you really do not want to brick it.
If you haven't already, try flashing specifically TWRP 2.8.7.0 recovery with ODIN
Seems to work for people having problems with getting rooted / recovery with the G900F
None of that works , Twrp won't work will give black screen after reboot and a old firmware will give also a black screen ...
Is there any new security on the bootloader or kernel that is stopping us to flash any custom recovery or custom rom am root the S5 ???

hi. if you are getting a massage about factory mode when you flash a stock rom then you might have a problem with your EFS folder. if so you can try this:
1- root your phone
2- install busybox and terminal emulator
3- open emulator and run
$ su
# mke2fs /dev/block/mmcblk0p12
# mount -w -t ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p12
# reboot
or you can check out this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58170785&postcount=4285
good luck
Do you have a custom bootloader?
My phone is stock rom never ever was able to install a custom rom/recovery or root , so no i do not have a custom bootloader ... Once again this phone is new and have never flashed custom rom/recovery or had it rooted because it will give me black screen when flashing custom recovery or trying to do the CF-Auto root method for S5
Gregzetko , do you even read the post ? Do you even know that i mention that my phone cannot be rooted , flashed with custom rom or custom recovery ? People should pay more attention to posts before they try to help with absurd answers ...
OK w/e

Are you attempting to flash root and custom recovery in download mode from cold boot?
Sent from my SM-G900F using XDA Free mobile app
I have had several Android phones in the past , HTC Sensation 4G , Galaxy Nexus , Samsung Galaxy Note , Samsung S2 and S3 i9305 LTE and i have flashed custom recovers and custom roms on all of them , is not that i don't know the procedure of how it's done and the risk to brick a phone as i have already bricked one HTC Sensation 4G .
All i want is get rid of stock rom on my Samsung S5 G900F , this phone i bought it new on my service provider and flashed custom recovery and gives me a black screen when phone restarts , if i do CF-Auto does the same thing black screen when restarts , if i try downgrade to kitkat also gives me a black screen leaving me only with the option to put my phone back into download mode while in black screen and flash stock rom with odin reason why i asked if there is a new security implemented on the kernel or bootloader to stopping S5's from 2015 to be flashed with custom recovery/rom ... This have never happened to me on several years of flashing ...

http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
Was build BOG5 but now am on BPB1 as per directions.Phone seems fine and is working fine.My few questions that confused me.
I do apologize for being a noob but hope to catch on with the rest of you members
1. Flashed custom rom VZW_BPB1_ODEX_DEODEX_V9.zip which says "Pre Rooted Knox free Deodexed with Tethering Fix, SDWrite Fix".
After doing so Still have Knox showing & no safestrap in app list was removed i guess from flashing rom(Is that normal).
2. Still have knox?I tried to remove & in safestrap said was successful in doing so.(Did this 1st before flashing rom)
3. I never used flashable firmware zips with no bootloader & didnt use the safestrap flashable kernel zips.I didnt realize it.Am i too late to doing so?Phone is working fine but if i need to do so whats the steps in installing these 2 if possible with out resetting phone again?
my Kernel Version
3.40

Did you edit the options.prop within the zip like it said to in the post?
