I am rooted with stock rom. I have a droid incredible 4g with foxfi installed. The phone is on the list of phones that work with foxfi and im on the verizon network with unlimited data. I have pda.net tablet installed on my N7 and i cant get it to work using wifi. The tablet detects the foxfi network but wont connect. It is also asking me to install pda.net on my phone to connect which doesnt fix the problem. I have since removed pda.net from my phone and im at a loss here. Ive read over and over with no solutions, i must be missing something... Any help with instructions would be appreciated.
thanks

Have you tried WiFi Tether (requires root)? Works like a charm in my setup (Note 2 and Nexus 7 WiFi).

I do not THINK Barnacle is compatible with the Kernel in the Sense ROM, that they are using.
Try using the Google Code Wifi application. http://code.google.com/p/android-wi...etail?name=wireless_tether_2_0_6.apk&can=2&q=
That one should work fairly well for you.
Never posted anything that made it into someones signature before. Thats awesome.
I've used all 3 "Stock", Barnacle and the Google.Code one and they all 3 worked fine. I have stuck with the stock one (TMO not charging me for it either) because I prefer the UI for it and it connects first try every time for me. activate app, power up netbook and by the time my netbook is done powering up it has already connected itself to my phone a ready to go for a romp on the inter-web. I have been using it since day I got the phone and haven't received the text telling me I had to add tethering to my account... but then I never get anywhere near the 5GB "cap", my heaviest month was 1.51GB

Hi I just rooted my Arc with GingerBreak, worked really well btw,
Titanium Backup and Cache mate are working fine, busybox is installed. However none of the tethering apps seem to work. Can anyone offer an suggestions?
While we are here, maybe find out which other "root apps" work and don't work?
Barnacle tether seems to work alright now!

i thought we hav default tethering apps on our arc?
What happened with the built-in tethering? It didn't work ?

There a built-in tethering in Gingerbread ... Go to Parameters > wireless parameters and network
I also cannot get any tethering to work, not the in built one or barnacle!
It connects to my laptop fine but as soon as it does the mobile data connection drops and only returns after disabling tethering?!
Neither do I, seems like it's a problem of GigerBreak, Even after un-rooting by using GingerBreak, won't work.
It connects to the Wifi like Karlos G said but can't access to the internet.........
Using 2.3.2.
Also some says HDMI doesn't work after rooting but to me, it works flawlessly
Yeah I tried unrooting but it still doesn't work! Literally as soon as I press to enable tethering I can watch the data connection drop off then as soon as I disable tethering it comes straight back! Really annoying as I use tethering a fair bit...
No issues here. It works fantastic. Even now, I'm posting this via my Arc Wifi network .
I tried the Hotspot wifi from HTC Inc2 phone but couldn't get it to work, how do you tether with Bluetooth from Android phone? what apps do i need?

I have a rooted Thunderbolt and this Bluetooth solution works for me... Download "FoxFi" on your phone and there are instructions for Bluetooth connection - from what I recall, you have to download "PDAnet" on the Nexus 7 but double-check as instructions may have changed. Be aware that a lot of the apps do not recognize the Bluetooth tether as a data connection - ex. you can browse using Chrome but can't download from Play Store.
This WiFi solution I just posted on another post may work for you... Download "WiFi Tether for Root Users" and once installed, set it to auto and change the device profile to your phone and make sure "routing fix" and "disable wake lock" is checked - this was a solution provided by one of the sr. members on xda for a rooted Thunderbolt and think it might also work. If your phone is not rooted, I'm not sure of a solution...
I have an HTC Incredible 4G LTE on Verizon. I can tether via bluetooth without downloading anything additional or signing up for any additional services. It just kind of works.
thanks for the tips, my HTC inc2 is rooted and running on UKB rom, would have to try it again when i get home tonight.
It seems like none of the apps out there (WiFi Tether, FoxFi and alike) work. Some seem to be able to start but no connection can be made.
Had anyone successfully ran SG4 in hotspot mode?

Not sure exactly what your asking for but: Hotspot Hack
I was looking for the app based solution. Thanks for the link, but that seems to be a bit risky.
My understanding is that JB has blocked FoxFi and it's kin. FoxFi's website has a chart to show which phones and OS levels it runs on. I did not expect it to run on my S4 and it does not. But PDANet+ (who has partnered with FoxFi now) does work for tethering. I was forced to use it for several hours yesterday when my cable was down and it worked great. But it's not wireless. and I did not try it via bluetooth, only wired.
*Problem solved, see Verizon Development thread
Has anyone had success editing sqlite database to allow native tether or find a working a third party app...beside foxfi (haven't tried it yet). I tried all my usual options on wifi tether and couldn't get it going. Someone with more knowledge of sqlite could probably get native tether working pretty easily.

I thought "ES File explorer" helps. Tools --> Net Manger--> Create a hotspot Network.
Please let me know if it doesn't.
Mine just says turning on.it just sits there with no activity

I also cannot get any 3rd party wireless tether apps to work.
I've tried multiple settings as well with Google's hotspot. No avail. My G2 has been rooted
Verizon
same here. No luck with anything. VZW verison. I had also started a thread but I guess i'll close it down since there's more activity here.
This is pretty interesting because VZW lost the lawsuit and the loss meant they werent allowed to block third party tether apps.
Has anyone tried Barnacle?

I tried barnacle and got this message:
"WIFI: Could not set ad-hoc mode of wlan0: Operation not supported on trasnport endpoint
Could not connect to NAT, will retry later
Running..."
but nothing happens. It doesn't even broadcast a signal.
Did you guys get the message that "wifi is in control shutting down" on wifi tether
Or something to that effect

i can usually get the google android tether app to work on most rooted phones, just play around with the settings and try changing the phone model under the settings tab. https://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/

It fails to run. On the log error under "Setting ad-hoc" it shows as failed, which is the same problem barnicle is having
Did you guys do a couple of things required on the Razr HD to get it to work.
You need to do the sqlite entitlement database modification. -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1800796&page=2
Did those of you trying to use WiFi Tether change the profile???
Also you can backup the sqlite database, just in case you are worried about changing anything.
I don't have the phone yet, but plan to get one.
Has anyone had any luck??
i tried with my tmobile and the same. cant get wifi tether to work with a 3rd party app.
Tried USB tether with Foxfi on my Verizon G2 and it worked flawlessly but I kept hitting the usage cap since its a free version . pretty much useless for me.
WIshed Wifi tether worked.
Man, I was thinking about getting the g2 but not so sure if I can't get wifi tether to work! Definitely staying tuned. Anyone try hotspot control?
Shoot.
If I can't tether with this, back to the store it goes.
Give it time guys, the phone just came out a couple days ago. I'm surprised we have root already, it took the Moto X/ULTRA/MAXX weeks to get rooted.
As far as tethering, I tried using Portable WiFi Hotspot which is just a toggle to the built in tethering, which works on my Note 2, but didn't do anything on the G2. Then I downloaded Wireless Tether for Root Users and it looks like it works, it shows it started and I see 0.6Kb of data being sent but it never actually creates a wireless network.
