So I've run across an issue that is quite bothersome to me.
is there no option to make the notification volume change with the ringer volume?
I haven't found the setting anywhere and on both my old htc and samsung devices there was an option, does lg not have one or am I missing it?

If you press the settings cog in the volume slider in the notification Window it let's you change volume for a bunch of different things, I'm not sure if that's what you are looking for.

No, I know how to change the volume.
What I'm looking for is a setting to make the notification volume change at the same time as the ringer volume.

Gotcha, I haven't looked too hard at that, I will take a look when I get a few minutes.
I'm sure there's an app that let's you do this. Have you checked the play store?
Nothing that I've found works so far

So on every android phone, in the sound settings for ringtone, you can set it so that your notification and ringtone volume is the same (by checking off a little box). I font see this option on the phone and so when I lower my volume it only lowers it for the ringtone, not emails and texts etc. this is ANNOYING. is they're not a setting for this or is it just me?

It's extremely annoying, and my biggest issue I've had with the phone so far. Followed closely by no notification LED. Hoping to see fixes for both soon.
Okay, here's how.
As usual, Settings > Sound and Display > Notification Ringtone. Now that you have the notification ringtone list open, just press the volume key to adjust.
That's how you manually adjust the notification ringtone, as always. What we're missing is the option always in every other Android OS that allows you to match your notification volume automatically to your ringtone volume, allowing you to adjust everything at once by the hard keys on the outside of the phone. Without that option you bump your ringtone way down, for example to go in a meeting, then one of your notifications goes off full blast.
Okay, I see now. I haven't had an android phone in a month so I'm a bit rusty. Well here's a fix to that then. I can't do anything about it in the settings itself, but go to the market and download "Quick Settings." Open the app and go into volume control. On the top there is a check box for "Use Ringer volume for Notifications." Now it'll work.
That sucks big ones. I'll have to use audio manager till that issue gets fixed. This is why I hate non-stock android phones because manufacturers like htc, motorola, and samsung think they thought of everything but they always end up messing something up

I agree, this is the most annoying thing about the vibrant. (luckily its an easy fix)
Thanks for the suggestion on the "Quick Settings" app
damn, whats up with samsung phones just straight up missing **** that's included in android? I was googling for a way to block calls when I saw that android should be able to take any contact and send their calls straight to voicemail.. NOPE, not on my epic.. now the notification/ringer volume link is missing too?! WTF?
I'm having a serious case of buyer's remorse right now.
I use the invisibright app because it gives you the option to stick it in the notifications bar so you can access it whenever you need to change the brightness. I'm looking for a similar app that does the same except this time, its the volume settings, not brightness. My volume rockers have been modded to be used as menu and back buttons, which I find really handy, so I'm left with using recent plus to access volume settings. Sometimes it takes a while to have recent plus start up, and pulling up the notification bar is faster. Is there such an app?

That's what I'm currently using for volume. I don't like it that much though because sometimes it takes forever to show up. The 'long-press' on that app seems to be a 'press for a lifetime' for me.

Hey guys,
I'm working on this today and ran into an interesting issue. Normally, volume rockers can are "smart" by sending a volume up/down event to the currently open app. You'll see this when you hit the rocker while playing music and it knows to adjust the media volume, not the system volume. If I implement this in the slider, I have a bad feeling that the key remap mod will kick in and it'll send a menu button action or something. Can someone (with a Nook) willing to test this out for me give me a quick PM? I only have a Droid Charge.
UPDATE:
nvm, found a much better way of doing it
Thanks.

This is great news, danny. I'm willing to test anything for you, but the thing is I've got my NC bricked just yesterday. :'( I've been up all night trying to fix it! T_T Once I get it up and running again I'll be 100% supporting this project of yours! ^_^
InvisiBright updated
3.3 now has options for volume and new slider height settings (both for tablets). Enjoy!

Fantastic! Danny, you're the man.
I know some people like independent volume settings but I don't. Is there any way to change it so that when I use the volume button to change the volume is also changes the notification volume?

Does that app allow you to "join" the notification volume with the ringer volume so when you push the volume button on the back of the phone, they both change?

I am pretty sure that it does. There are a lot of settings within the app. I paid the 99 cents for the pro version, so I may have more settings then the free version.

Here's an app for that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37023489
I'm using it myself.
EDIT: Actually THIS is the one I'm using: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=aj5613.fgd&hl=en
Works great.
Hopefully there's a way around it. It is kinda annoying I agree. I think the issue was it maybe was linking the ringer to the notification but our buttons change the ringer. We need it the other way around.

I just wanted to point out that I edited my post to include another app too. I use one from the play store actually, but if this is working (and it should), then it doesn't really matter . This definitely annoyed me too. For a while, I couldn't figure out why notifications were still so loud even when I had ringer on level 1 or 2!! It's so odd that they are NOT linked and have no option. It just makes sense that if you turn the RINGER down, the Notifications would be quieter too. I mean, silencing the ringer will also silence notifications, so it's just inconsistent!
Anyway, rant over. Problem is resolved :good:
On all Android phones I've had, if I reduce the volume on the ringer, it would go down to just vibrate. How do I do this with the OP5?
You have to use the slider above the volume rocker on the left side. OnePlus did it this way on purpose. Just holding the volume down will not put it in vibrate.

with the rocker, it is impossible to have this:
truly silent mode (no vibration)
vibration only for priority contacts
and
loud mode (ringer loud + vibration)
There is absolutely no reason why oneplus doesn't allow volume=zero in dnd mode.
Well there is a DND and in that setting there are plenty of customizations you can do under DND aa will as silent. If there is something not there you can request it on their feedback forums. Maybe they can add some extra functionality.

of course there is. But the not-so-unusual scenario above is, unfortunately, only solvable with tasker, as oneplus deliberately decided to remove this functionality.
That's super annoying, why did they need to change it.
It was perfect on my Op2..
Top slider - silent
Middle - priority
Bottom - ringer and/or vibrate if no volume

If I am on my home screen and I use the volume buttons, it only changes the media volume instead of the notification/ring tone volume like I would expect. The only way I can change the notification/ring tone volume is to go into the sound settings menu and adjust the slider. Am I overlooking a way to change what the volume buttons control?

Apparently, that's how Oneplus has set it to work. You'll have to tweak it with xposed/ custom rom/ magisk mod.

Has anybody found a solution to this annoying as hell problem? How do you make the volume side buttons control the ringer volume? Why is there not a choice? Is it that difficult to for the programmers to fix? It's a simple thing. I hate that when you go into settings and control the volume that way IT PLAYS YOUR F&$KING RING TONE!!! That is so stupid! And don't come back with "use your slide switch above the on/off button" because I want to use my volume buttons. Can anyone help? It sucks having to waste so much time to try and find a solution to such a simple request....
Same here. Any software "fix" that bypasses the slider? I just have a bad feeling about it breaking one day...

use a volume app. Also, if you are putting a request do it nicely, nobody is working for you here. We share what we know and nobody owes anyone anything.
That is how oneplus has designed the volume keys to work so complain on oneplus support.

What volume app? I can't find anything that overrides the slider. Allegedly, oxygen slider (xposed module) might be it, but wanted to confirm if anyone here was successful in doing so.

I don't know which app. It has been a long time so I don't know if it exists anymore.
Ended up finding a little app called "silent mode toggle". Basically puts the phone into vibrate mode, which is all I need. Tasker has similar functionally as well. This bypasses the slider (needs to be in the ring mode).
