Hello,
First post here on for the Samsung. Coming from RAZR XT912 from Verizon, and waiting for my soon to be new device Verizon SN3.
I understand Samsung is HEAVY on bloatware, and wanted to see what is recommended/safe to remove bloatware. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

Hi there!
I just bought my new phone recently. Went from iphone 4 to S4. Big improvement. I really love my new S4. One minor annoyance, though.
it is the bloatwares that are on my S4.
I want to root it and ONLY want to remove the bloatwares. I don't want to do anything else. I just want to be able to remove the bloatware as i don't find them useful and i could use extra space and make my phone snappy.
I am still learning my way around the website. I am sorry if this has been asked before.
Mind you, my baseband is i9505XXUBMG4 and android version is 4.2.2. I bought it unlocked.
I am bought it here in New Zealand. Most of the guides refer to phones being used in USA.
I would love a proper simple layman explanation. I would love to do a simple root just to REMOVE the bloatwares.
I am on a MAC btw. So i'd appreciate any root explanation using a MAC.
Hope this made sense. I appreciate any help! Thanks for bearing with me. cheers!
I too have a NZ S4, keep reading my friend. Probably the easiest way to debloat is to cf-root (search for it) and either uninstall apps with titanium backup (from the app store) or use the debloat aroma in this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1827817 if you need anymore help pm me
hi everybody -
i am new to the forum and i would like to know if it is possible to actually put bloatware on a google edition phone. i know this sounds weird but here's the story. i thought i was being a cool boyfriend by buying a google edition s4 for my wife instead of the regular at&t samsung s4 from their site because there would be no bloatware on the google edition. After my wife (who has been used to using the bloatware off s3 and loving some of those things) played with the google edition and absolutely hated that it didn't have any of the samsung features from an actual samsung phone bought from at&t. What i'm wondering is, is there a way to actually put all that bloatware onto a google edition s4 somehow? so that way, the phone will perform and have all the apps and features of an original samsung s4? does it need to be rooted, etc.? any tips and info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

The short answer is no, it's not possible. But you could always sell it on ebay and buy a GT-i9500 or GT-i9505 instead to stay off contract, or buy the AT&T phone.
Theoretically, it's possible. Not by direct flashing I9505 firmware. But some cleaned one should be fine because I9505G has less space in system partition.
I'm not sure if partition layouts between I9505G and I9505 are the same (except sizes). If yes, then you can flash CWM/TWRP and then install any custom I9505 TW ROM. If partition layouts are different, then some work will be required.
You need to monitor threads about flashing GE ROMs to normal I9505 device and see what's the difference.
Or find playstore alternatives for the bloat she liked and install those.
Hey all I asked this in the Verizon forum and other people were also curious but I didn't get a response.
With the phone being as locked down as it is I was thinking of getting the Verizon GS5 Dev-Edition. If I understand correctly I can use ROMs from this forum (Main GS5 forum) since they share the same processor and hardware and Kernels as long as they support Verizon correct (Like Blaze)
Thanks for the advice/help in advanced!
I am being overwhelmed with all this information from this forum, so I wanted to try to make a thread to get more personal advice.
I own a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5. Where do I start?
I want a new ROM, preferable one with a lot less pre-loaded bloatware. I want to see my options. Where do I go after I just rooted with geohot's app?
Really need to be able to do this for my sister and I don't want to destroy her phone. Any help would be appreciated!!!! Thank you so much for your time!!
Straight talk
Straight talk does not allow ota updates. The Android version you have is all that is available for them. Mother had a S4 stuck on KitKat for that reason. I'm new to rooting. And I know boost Mobile doesn't like the idea of rooting
