[Q] Screen transition lag? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is anyone experiencing lags trying to switch between the tabs in music / contact/phone application or in settings menu?
sometimes the tabs would switch smoothly, but time to time the screen would studder for a bit, and then switch.
i was wondering if this is normal.
my last phone was s3, and it did not have any lag switching between the tabs.
?
also, i was wondering if the youtube videos on g2 would look bit slower normally?
if the picture moves too fast, it tends to studder

It's my opinion that the transition lag is normal. I have been getting it from day 1. I won't call anyone a liar, but the people who say there is no lag whatsoever, are probably exaggerating.

[Q] Screen not revolving?

Anyone else finding the Focus screen orientation not reorienting from Portrait to Landscape in various places (IE, e-mail etc)?
Yes, but if you notice in the instruction manual it says not all screens have landscape.
Some of the reviews of the LG qwerty phone indicate this too, making typing on a sqwerty a sideways proposition.
I would expect more landscape rolled out in updates, but then again I am a douche.
Seems more responsive today, maybe the SD card affected more than memory.
The Focus is sluggish when changing orientation. I compared a Focus and a Surround side by side, and the Surround flips to landscape and back faster every time.
Since I went ahead and bought the Focus anyway, I really hope Samsung tweaks this in time for the next update.
Rotating slow on Focus too
Has anyone tried to hard reset to see if it gets better?

Where it is sluggish? I don't feel any slugginess in mine
Mine does it occasionally too. I wouldn't say it's sluggish.. It's quite fast when it *does* rotate. Just sometimes when the screen rotates to say..landscape.. then I want to switch back to portrait..the screen wont rotate.. and i have to shake the phone a bit for it to work again. Doesnt happen always but it happens enough that you notice it.

[Q] Screen Jittering When Scrolling

Hi. I've recently noticed more screen jittering and periodic flickers when I'm scrolling. I tend to keep my thumb on the screen and slowly scroll when I'm reading. The problem isn't as bad if I just tap quickly to scroll, but if I do it slowly, text is shaky or almost shimmering.
Anybody else get this effect when scrolling? Opinions on whether this sounds hardware or software related?
Samsung Focus 1.3
Recently updated to Mango
Used almost a year
Thanks.
depends if you are talking about the home screen or in applications...regardless it is a software issue.
You didn't mention if you have a microsd card installed and how full it is.
Secondly, this is known to happen immediately after reset, and is somewhat normal.
Background apps might also affect performance.

Anyone noticing slight pause in YouTube after rotation?

I just noticed on my 6P that while playing a video in YouTube full-screen, if I rotate the screen 180 degrees, there is a slight pause or interruption in the audio. I doesn't appear to be a Marshmallow issue because my Nexus 6 on the same connection rotates without any pauses. (Same thing with a Note5 and LG V10.)
Does this happen to anyone else? Easiest way to check is to open the YouTube app and play a music video full-screen, since any pause or interruption in the audio will be easily noticed.
Nothing here.
No pause on mine. I have heard else where that the pause is from the left and right speakers switching to the proper side as you flip the phone over.

I guess that could be a possibility, but even so I wouldn't expect a noticeable pause. Also, I would expect something similar to happen on the Nexus 6, but it doesn't.
After playing with it a bit more, I actually noticed that if I rotate from portrait to landscape (with top of phone to the left) back and forth, there is no pause. It is actually the rotation from portrait to landscape (with top of phone to the right) where the pause occurs. (And again, rotation from landscape to reverse landscape pauses.)
I also let my phone sit for a bit to "cool down" just in case the SD810 was throttling, but I still see the pausing.

Problem with Scroll Lag

Hello friends.
I need your opinion about the scroll lag i am facing in alot apps and in settings menu too.I changed a ton of roms always with clean flash and in matter i always have a little lag at the end of scrolling..I think it is hardware related no other explanation can give.
What about you?Are anyone else has this problem ?
I will apriciate any kind of help
The scrolling lag issue is most likely not because of the hardware or the rom that you are running but because of the kernel. What's happening is that you will have smooth scrolling as long as you touch the screen or when you first touch the screen due to the processor ramping up the frequencies, and when you let the screen go the processor downclocks. What you can do to help reduce scrolling lag is by tweaking your kernel for a bit more performance.

Ahaa Sounds good to me your explanation:fingers-crossed:
Any idea what to tweek? I use pure nexus rom with flash kernel
You could tweak the input boost frequencies or the input boost ms(this affects how long the boosted frequencies are held).
As a warning to you, doing this can lead to faster thermal throttling so i would also recommend that you also modify your thermal engine file to allow the phone to run hotter before turning off the big cores.
I'm running stock android 7.0 and I have this problem too. When the screen is scrolling quickly and I put down my first to stop the scroll there is a huge lag before the scrolling stops. Almost half a second. It seems to occur in all apps. It's driving me nuts. I never have this problem with my iPad or my ancient nexus 4. The odd thing is that if instead of just putting down my finger I drag my finger slightly (in any direction) then the lag almost disappears.

Try switching to f2fs. A few of the fan boys have said it helps with scrolling aswell as the read/write speed inc.
Won't help a ton, but might a little
I found the source of my scroll lag issue. I sometimes enable the magnification gesture in the accessibility settings (because I often use a particular transit app that has insanely small icons). I realized that when I have this setting turned on the scrolling gets laggy. Turning off the magnification gesture seems to solve the problem completely. Not sure if there's any workaround other than disabling the gesture setting.

Slow Camera?

I was wondering if anyone else had a similar problem or possibly a solution for me. I have the h990ds and its stock with the latest update installed. when i launch the camera either from the icon on the home screen or by the shortcut by double pressing the volume down, it takes at least 2-3 seconds to open, sometimes more. i don't really experience this issue with any other apps (i say really because once in a while an app may take the same time to launch). Also, when actually snapping the photo, it often takes the same amount of time to actually capture, on auto and on manual mode. Finally, the viewfinder image is really, really choppy with a very low frame rate until i start shooting video, at which point it looks fine. i am hoping someone else can help out since i dont want to root or flash custom roms to get the performance i see others having on videos online
thanks much guys
Did you ever figure it out? Mine sometimes takes 5-10 seconds to load. Once it was over 30.
Try uninstall or force stop "One Drive:. It works for me.
yeah the cameras slow. if the screens off, it's bc of androids ****ty doze feature. it's such trash.
