[Q] Built-in Storage options - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone confirm what the real; built-in storage options are? I have only seen 32GB until recently, which is annoying because I am after the 64GB version.
Then I see this (in Oz):
http://www.mobicity.com.au/catalogsearch/result/?q=Samsung+Galaxy+Note+3
Here they seem to offer 16 GB and 32 GB versions. They also offer a N9002 which appears to be a dual sim option, but no 4G. Is this maybe an import from Tokyo (my last Note was)?
What are all the 'real' options, does anyone know?
Confused of Mackay....

I have never seen a Samsung 64 gb version in any of its tablets or phones. It is like searching for Big Foot. I probably will have a better chance seeing Big Foot in real life.

OK, thanks. Maybe it was my poor memory (b'dm-tish), or a rogue preview I read.

64 Gb
I Don't know how legit it is, as it's the only one I've seen.

Very expensive, but at least it's been seen in the wild:fingers-crossed:
I'll be calling them tomorrow.
Don't know I'll actually buy at this price, but be interesting to see if it's true

Venue Pro listed on Dell's Website, bad news...

http://www.dell.com/us/p/mobile-venue-pro/pd
Unfortunately it states there is 8GB / 16GB storage which is not removable.
Looks like if there is an SD socket it won't be accessible without voiding the warranty, difficult to say for sure...
Mind you, I suspect they're not allowed to mention SD slots "officially" anyway. I'm still hoping the base model is 8GB of on-board NAND and the 16GB model has an 8GB card in the slot as well.
16GB is enough for me. Just as long as it's not 8GB, I'm happy.
Yeah me too. 16 Is good. I am more upset it isn't available for order.
Also interesting is it list 900/1700/2100 bands. So no European specific models? I hope thats what that means

No you don't get it. This is the USA website so it will show you a model that WILL WORK IN THE USA.
It just so happens that the bands are also supposed in Europe (900/2100).
Europe models however do not have the 1700 band.
So there are European specific models out there (just checkout clove UK and expansys UK).
Australia also a model that is 1900/2100.

I am aware of that. What I am wondering if expansys is wrong info and there is only one model that covers all. Nokia does it. This is the official website posting not 3rd party like expansys. Get it
Is there a dell/uk? What do they list
This is (possibly) terrible news.
But, you could interpret it to say it contains 8 or 16GB of Non-Removable storage, leaving the microSD slot free for expansion.
If you look at the official Samsung website for the focus, there is no mention of the microSD slot. All it says is: "8GB ROM On Board Memory". I hope that this is the same situation.
No, the worst news has been confirmed.

My order is getting cancelled. I'd be better off with an Omnia 7, as it'll work better in daylight. Unfortunately it means I've lost at least 2 weeks of having a decent phone for nothing. As much as I like the look and the keyboard, the big number 1 reason I ordered it was the microSD slot. Without that, I can't justify the massive upfront hit of the SIM free price over the contract-subsidised price of another handset.
I'm rather irritated right now.
Still can't find out any info officially (contacted dell uk and they have no clue)
On the clove website I see the below.
8GB Memory
Expansion Slot Yes
Type MicroSDHC
Capacity (Up to) 32GB
I am sure in a few days time it will all be confirmed by someone.

If the build is like all other phones, the microsd should be behind that cover. We probably won't find out until someone daring enough is willing to open up the back and take a look. Compared to the HD7, it looks like only a screw is holding it in place.

This is the whole problem with this phone. Dell doesn't even list full specs on this phone. Even the official page just lists only some specifics. But from what I read and seen, the UK or unlocked version seem only to have 8GB.
it's 8 GB >.> why do you guys need more so badly.
I'd be satisfied with that.
I have my 32 GB Zune HD that I am fully satisfied with continuing to use for music and video. I love my Zune.

I have 11GB of music. Therefore an 8GB phone is not enough. I'm sure many people have much more music.
You might say I don't need all my music on my phone, but that argument will fall down the moment I think "I've not listened to that track in a while... and I still can't because it's not on my phone". It also falls over when I've copied my 6GB of music I really want to carry around with me, and then I fancy taking a film or tv show with me, but I can't because I have no storage space left.
You might say use Skydrive, but with most networks here capping monthly data at 500MB, that'll get used up pretty quickly, particularly if video is required. Zune Pass has this issue too, coupled with the fact that most of my music is soundtracks and rather obscure stuff, none of which is available on Zune (I've looked).
Ill be satisfied if there is a 16GB version as appears there is on Dell's website. It was either 8Gb with accessible micro-SD expansion, or 16Gb without it. I can live with 16Gb. I have a 32GB zune im nowhere near halfway through. 8Gb was just way too little though.
No SD card kind of sucks, but it's all good. I'm sure someone will find out where the sd card is hiding. Unless it's onboard? If it's NAND, then I'd prefer 16gb of that vs an sd card slot, to be honest.
I emailed clove yesterday and got this response a few minutes ago:
We have checked with our supplier of the Dell Venue Pro and they have confirmed that the early demonstration models they have seen did feature a microSD slot. Due to this we would assume at this time that the Dell Venue Pro does feature a microSD slot.

Not sure what to make of this.
That says to me that they have no more of a clue than any of us at this point!
Some people who have purchased the Venue Pro are saying they can't find the SD card slot, certainly not in the battery compartment, but others hold out hope that it is there underneath a cover and is reasonably easily accessible.
I hope we find out for sure by the 16th because I may have to reconsider the purchase if it turns out the SD card slot really isn't there or it's too embedded to get at without voiding the warranty.
8GB is not enough - my HD2 has a 16GB card and that has zero free space, in fact I was looking forward to doubling up to 32GB so I could put a bit more of my mp3 collection onto the phone.
Keep your eyes peeled for real evidence one way or the other...

it honestly boils down to keyboard and amoled (venue pro) vs no keyboard and no amoled with higher price tag outright (hd7)
I like wp7, it took a lot for me to get used to it granted but it is "enjoyable"
That said a keyboard would enhance my experience

Anyone here still waiting for the 32 or 64 GB version?

I don't think that I can wait any longer since there is not a single news on the anticipated 32 GB 3G version. Even vendors from the U.K. don't have them in stock.
So does anyone know anything about when the 32 or 64 GB (3G version) will come out? I googled but did not find anything.
Might as well enjoy the awesome tab 16 now and 64 gb microsd. even the samsung galaxy note 32 has not come out and it s been out since november.

This is exactly what I'm doing with mine
Cloudsource stuff like your music and pictures by using Google services (Picasa, Google+, and Google Music), and put the heavyweight content like movies and TV on your 64GB SD card, and it works brilliantly!
I'm waiting until they release the update to ICS before I even consider buying this tablet. I finally gave up waiting for the Gingerbread update for my T-mobile GT7 and loaded the German 2.3.6 ROM to my Tab last week. I don't care who held up the update, I won't trust them to release the update for the new Tabs until the day they actually come out. Hopefully, if they do release it soon, it will be after the 32 and 64GB version come out.
One of the big advantages of the GT 7.7 (and the reason I pulled the trigger) is the MicroSD card slot, which the 8.9 and 10.1 don't have. So get a 16GB model and order up at 32GB card for $50 or less (just buy a name brand). The extra memory you get on SD will be a lot less than what you would pay Sammy for, for the same bump in memory.

i really want this tablet, but i'm not spending money on the 16GB it's simply too little for me
I want 32GB at least but the samsung stores say they will only carry 16GB version but Im also waiting a bit..
a 32gb class 10 card will be cheaper and faster (and give you 48GB space) than the 32GB internal storage.
I already bought a 64gb micro SD card and wanted it for the 32 or 64gb tab. The more storage the better IMO.
I. Beginning to think that the bigger storage tabs won't see release soon enough to warrant a purchase tho.

I could not wait any longer so I took the plunge and ordered it today from Negri Electronics....even without the coupon code. Man...I kicked myself for missing the coupon code by one day. I don't think there will a new code for awhile.
I also went ahead and ordered the 64 GB micro SD card from Amazon for $145.
In the mean time, I will just play with my Galaxy Note until I receive its big brother.

With the squeeze at the cheap end from the Fire an Nook it will be even harder for non Apple tab makers to offer higher storage options because that will make them even more expensive and more vulnerable to the low end units. For too many the decision comes down to: Do I pay $200 for a decent tab, $550 for a great tab with 16GB or $700 for a great tab with 64GB -- odds are the over whelming number of people opt for either the $200 decent tab or the $550 great tab with 16GB.
This sucks because I to would prefer the 64GB version but suspect it will never be made...
Brian
Why wait...?
The trouble is if you wait 6 months for the 64gb to become available... there will be another one announced, forcing for you to wait... then that'll become available in the smaller sizes, but you wait for the bigger sizes, but before they become available someone else announces the next best thing. and so on.
You gotta pick your model and get your hands on it as early as possible in the cycle.

I'm really waiting for the ICS update to be released before I consider buying one because I don't trust Samsung to release it in a timely manner. Until then, I can make do with my original Galaxy Tab. If the higher capacity memory models come out in the meantime, then that's just a bonus.
I wouldn't wait to be honest, Samsung's track record in relation to bringing the higher internal spec'd versions to market is rather poor. The Note hasn't yet arrived, the 16GB Galaxy S took forever, I'm not sure if the 32GB S2 ever materialised, they've just cancelled the 32GB GSM Nexus etc etc...
64GB model was announced at some large Russian retail stores
they'll start selling it very soon for the price of 16GB 3G plus $167...

I don't trust Samsung either, I want to buy the 7.7 but only when it comes with ICS. I have seen what happend with the original Tab and now Samsung is releasing the 7.0 Plus with ICS (Tab 2), which I'm quit sure will mean that the 'old' 7.0 Plus (just 2 months on the market) will not have ICS and maybe the same for 7.7. This will not happen to me.
Since they will be announcing new tablets on the MWC, for sure ICS will come at a later date of already released devices, there is also a possibility that this wont get ICS in a timely manner.
Try this

[Q] 32Gb and 64Gb, where?

Where are the 32 and 64G versions of the 7.7?
What's this thing with Samsung to announce higher capacity tabs, only for them to be scarcely found anywhere?
PK
I had the option to grab a 32gb 7.7 in Australia
Stuck with the 16gb though...
I am so keen on one that I might consider risk sourcing it from Oz all the way here, to Portugal (...half the globe!)
Do you think anything might be different between the units sold down there and the ones sold in Europe?

AFAIK, when it comes to the P6800 (3G), only the 16GB model is available. I have seen like maybe one person so far who said that they had a 32GB 3G model that they got somewhere in or around Russia.
The 32GB P6810 (WiFi) seems to be readily available in the Australian market, so I would imagine you could find somewhere to import from.
As for the 64GB model of either, not a chance... I haven't seen or heard of either of those out in the wild in any shape or form...
Here's the thing:
Samsung said that they'd have 16, 32, and 64 gig models of the Galaxy S2. It's been about a year since the GS2 hit the market, and the GS3 is right around the corner. It wasn't until only recently that the 32GB model reached the market, and the 64GB model is still nowhere in sight...
So, my recommendation would be, unless Samsung releases all announced capacities of _______ at the time of launch, just pretend that the other versions don't even exist in the first place, and don't wait for them either, because they may never even come to market anyway.
Get what you want/what's available, when you want it, throw a 64GB SD card in it, and be happy.

I really would prefer at least 32Gb internal coupled with the 64Gb card. I am keen on photography and one of my requirements from my current (GT-P1000) and next tabs is for them to double as image banks in my trips, with the external card reserved for photos, during those times.

Nah...I have a 1DMKIV for that
Currently: Raw photos go to the in-camera CF card and a real-time medium-size Jpeg copy goes to the GT-P1000, through Wi-Fi, via an Eye-Fi Pro X2 siting on the in-camera SD slot.
I have to carry multiple CF cards for, say, a 12-15 day trip, keeping all Raw files for later sorting and do "end of the day" sorting and deleting in the SGT7 Jpeg clones.
I love this set-up and you can not wipe-out a stupid grin from my face every time I use it.
How I want to upgrade: SGT 7.7 (for the much improved display) working the same as before, except that now I will have the actual Raw original traveling through the Wi-Fi connection into the tab, which will act as "on-the-go" storage bank.
This way, once at home, I won't have to duplicate in the Raw final folder the Jpeg deleting I have made "on-the-move".
Raw transit times through the ad-hoc Eye-Fi hotspot are much longer than Jpegs but I don't have to worry about it since, if the tab is allowed to stay relatively close to the camera (say, in the backpack or in the car), the photos will keep transferring at their own pace and will all be in the tab by bedtime.
Under this plan, I can assure you, having the external SD 64Gb reserved for the Raw photos is not too much, hence the need for larger internal capacities so that the tab can keep fulfilling the other requirements I have for it, while traveling.

Hmmm, that's quite a cool setup there! I can understand the desire for ever more capacity! That said, and kinda getting back to my previous point, you're probably just better off getting the 16 or 32 model, considering that the 64 may end up being a pipe dream... I can understand why the screen would be a major upgrade for what you do, and as such, it seems that the screen upgrade might take higher priority than the storage capacity. That's just my two cents though!

Wow! you get a hold of things quickly, don't you?...My conundrum described, exactly!
Already forgot the 64Gb version, although Samsung Portugal assured about a month ago both versions would come to our market. Since then, their tune changed slightly...Importing the models is now "pending on an internal reunion" and I have been promised an email, as soon as a decision is made.
You're right, the display is the keystone to my "upgrade building"...The problem is, I also quite like the PLS standard displays so, if no 7.7 32Gb shows up soon in Europe (...I travel by profession and can source it, either in person or via web, from several European suppliers...it just has to, like... exist ! ) maybe I just settle for a 32Gb version of the coming Tab 2 10.1...the only reason I didn't get a 10.1 last year was because of Samsung's pulling of of that "no SD slot" stunt.
Meanwhile, the money is burning in my pocket and, beginning May, I'll have to go twice to Amsterdam and will have to pass those beautiful, beautiful 16Gb 7.7s at Schipol airport electronics shop, at "just" 540 EUR...Maybe I'll cave in...
I believe one thing is working in my favor by having to wait...it will give Samsung time to work out those reported SuperAMOLED+ displays problems. Maybe newer units feature improved versions...
Thanks for your help and support!

How much did your 64gb version set you back in USD? 3G P6800 too right? Is it still available in Russia?

Swapping 16 gb for 32

If google ends up releasing a 32gb version of this phone shortly after release, is there any chance that we would be able to exchange the 16gb one for a 32 paying off the price difference? I might be fine with 16gb, but I'm worried that I may fill it with pictures considering how easy it'll be to snap them of literally anything now haha.. That and a select few gigabytes of music !
If anyone knows about their exchange policy please fill me in (did anyone do this for the nexus 7?)
Not likely, why would they incur the costs and massive numbers of used phones?
Sadly you're probably be right, though I wish there was a way to get it now but have 32 gb version
I don't mind, now. It's obvious Google doesn't make too much on these phones. Doing what they're doing ensures they don't make a loss, they can then sell the 16gb for $300 and 32gb for $350. Plus we don't have to wait.

where is the 32gb models?

and why do we have no info on when they will be available? all i see is 'coming soon" on the at&t page. why bother giving us the price tag a month ago then not having them up for presale? will they even be available upon launch on at&t?
Samsung are always the same they say there are 32 and 64 models but they never ever see the light of day here in the UK

I am wondering the same thing. It's just speculation of course, but I wouldn't be surprised if the 32 and 64gb versions will only be available through Verizon in the US. So AT&T gets first launch but Verizon gets a better variety? I guess we will know soon. I guarantee there are managers at AT&T that already know, but as usual, are not saying.
hope it won't be like last year when they cancelled the galaxy s3 64GB version
yeah i got fed up and just ordered my 16gb edition on at&t.
I'm won't buy the 16gb. I want 32 or 64gb. I'm in UK and Samsung won't reveal anything. 16gb is no good as only 8.9gb is free to users. And all apps and games and app data has to go in phone memory. Not micro sd.
I don't see any reason for AT&T to skip the 32GB, they have it as coming soon. Some speculate that Samsung is pushing the 16GB out first since its more popular but I don't see why they can't get both capacities out, its a pre-order for a reason.
I am porting from Verizon to AT&T so I have to wait and I'm stuck on a crappy old flip phone while I wait. I didn't want to get stuck hold the bag on my last phone and lose the value on it. My hope is its shortly after launch, but my fear is it could be a month or two after launch. No more Verizon, so AT&T better step up.
If they have a sku for the 32GB GS4, then its clearly planned, just a timing issue.
we are all just speculating of course but if they focused all manufaturing on one model (qualcomm 16gb) then they are more likely to meet demand rather then if they fragmented at launch and possibly missed shipping on multiple models. just a WAG tho...
Watch out on ebay.. There suckering people with 32GB S4 = 16GB(internal) + 16GB(microSD)
I spoke to sammy today and they have no info on 32gb models. As i said i just sucked it up and got the 16gb today. I have a 64gb sd card anyways.

My S2 Skyrocket has 16 GB internal memory and I have never come close to filling it. However, it all depends on how people use their phones. I don't use mine for music or movies (at this time) so my biggest storage issues are phone related (nandroids, Apps, pictures and videos, etc...) and I usually use the external SD for the pics and vids. But here is why I want the 32 GB model:
1. If I ever find myself in a situation that I need or want to take a lot of videos and pictures but don't have an extra SD card with me or a way to transfer them to another media. It would suck to run out of storage when it is really needed.
2. 32 GB might not be needed (by me) right now, but with larger and better apps, games, and similar being developed, it can't hurt. In the future it will be welcome.
3. The 32 GB model will look better than the 16 GB model when / if I ever want to sell it.
4. External SD cards crap out all of the time. Having enough onboard storage to temporarily back up important info, pics, and vids will be nice.
Of course, like I said, everybody's experience differs and some people definitely need more than 16 GB to start with.
If the 32GB isn't offered, I guess there won't be a choice.
I'm just fine with my 80GB model.
A lot of chatter, but really.... if you want it soon get the 16gb version. if 32gb is important to you, then wait. No point whining about the fact 32gb isn't available yet. 16gb will be the most popular by far, it makes sense they started there.

Thanks for your opinion but the thread is about the 32 GB version so there is no point in you calling OP related issues "whining". As stated, I (and many others) would like the 32 GB version so any information about it is certainly welcome.
I know, some people just never read the fine print. I am just sitting idle until AT&T says something.
Wheres the 64GB love? Can I get a 9500 (ex5410) + 64GB + LTE is that too much to ask?
is there any way of loading apps on the sd card? 16gb seems awful low
I'm waiting as well
"Life Companion" at 16GB ..
Last i read was the 32gb will be available when the s4 is officially avail April 30th. But I would not hold my breath as it was not from a credible source. I too am waiting for the 32gb as 16gb just won't cut it.
