Hi,
I've been searching for a way to turn off the awful sound when making a screenshot.
I have already tried to rename audio files or even the complte audio folder here: /system/media/audio/ui, but it didn't work.
Anyone knows where the damn sound file for the screenshot sound is located?
Thanks
Felix

Thanks, I know there are apps for that. But more important: There must be a soundfile for that.
Anyone knows this awful sound file is stored?
Does really absolutely no one know where that bloody sound file is located?

Are you rooted?
Try Xposed and Wanam module...
Quick solution is ''silence mode''.
Thanks, but I am really focused on knowing where this mysterious soundfile is located....

You may have in the meantime found where it is, and if you did not .... Here's where it (the device must be rooted). Use Root Explorer or similar app .... go to system / media / audio / ui and find "camera_click.ogg" open permissions, untick all, confirm and reboot your device...

That did actually work. What is funny here is that I have renamed the file to "camera_click.NOogg" earlier.
I changed back the permission and rebooted. The screenshot sound doesn't come again.
I am confused, but at least the sound doesn't play anmyore
Thanks

I've fixed the low incall volume problem. BIG thanks to Arva!!! If you are experiencing low incall volume all you need to do is this:
1. go with RootExplorer (or something else) to /system/etc/firmware
2. delete default.adcb and htcleo.adcb (make sure you have mounted read/write in the folder)
3. just copy the defaut.adcb from the attached file that Arva gave
4. restart the phone (not hot restart)
and presto!! you'll have so lowder incall volume that your ears will bleed
Again.. BIG thanks to Arva!!
Just applied the fix, works nice
Found Simple Fix,
-when you recieve the incoming call accept the call turn on speaker phone and turn it of again,
good idea.. but when you change the file you won't have to deal with it every time.. it can be a bit annoing
how do you do this???? Helpppp, this is really annoing!!!

Okay, you told us to delete htcleo.adcb, but there is no file to replace it in the file downloaded.
Also what do I replace the deleted files with?
default.acdb
or
update.default_acdb.sh
?>??
YOU SIR, ARE NOT CLEAR AT ALL IN YOUR DIRECTIONS.
I agree. This works as well but its really annoying as hell!
How do you even get to htcleo.adcb???
@lemonspeaker you dont replace htcleo.adcb.. you just delete it. and copy default.adcb, the other file is for the builds from cedesmith.
@daica13 get to file with rootexplorer.. and it's written in the first post where the files are located.. good luck

Use Rootexplorer to do it.
You need root access. And Change the files to read / write
I Used Rootexplorer not sure what the heck I was doing !
But it worked ! In-Call IS Fixed!
Yep.. Worked for me.
Thank you.
Got a fix for the speaker volume for ringer and notification being low too?Ive been searching for weeks.
I have deleted the two mentioned files, but I can't paste the new file.
All the maps are read/write, but when I paste the standard file nothing happens.
I used Rootexplorer.
What am I doing wrong?
I can't open root explorer, it says something like "root explorer has not yet managed to get permissions from superuser..."
I can't figure out how to get around this!
Any ideas?

I also tried using SuperManager and when I delete files it does nothing!
I have notice a strange issue. Since I Have applied this fix the boot time is about 90 sec. If I restore the original file, the booot time is about 45 sec. Why this?
thank you ,nice work
Worked like a charm for me! I couldn't paste the file using Root Explorer, so I tried Super Manager, and it allowed me to copy/paste just fine.
does someone can edit reg key to turn off wp7 camera shutter sound?

can anybody help with this issue? is there a reg key for the shutter sound? the sound is very loud, also in vibrate-mode and it is annoying...

It's in: \Windows
It seems I don't have write access, how can I fix this?
Ditto, i don't have write access either. I'm able to locate the file using Touchxplorer and Adnvanced Explorer, but if I try to delete it it gives me an error saying it can't. i have verified that my phone is still unlocked using Chevron, so I'm not sure what to do.
Is there a way to enable write access in the windows folder? A registry change possibly? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.
when i tried to do that it show acces is denied
Ok shutter.wav for picture but now what's the sound for the 'bip' when videorecording ?
videostart.wav
Is there anyway to mute the camera sound on this rom ??
You can delete camera sound file from system with root explorer or replace it with one without sound.

uhhh thats what i meant
If there is still sound, just make empty camera_click.ogg audio file and place it in that folder.
there're plenty of silent camera software on the market, you could try it on. I think replacing the camera sound is not the perfect solution because sometimes you shouldn't mute the sound and leave it play on
Finally, thanks to my mod is exclusive solved the audio problem found on all ( or most) Nexus 5 ! (LINK BUG - see also comments to the news - italian)
Significantly increased the sound of the speaker , but above all also fixed the microphone input/output and speaker of the call !
In other words both you and your recipient feel ALWAYS sound loud and clean like never before. The phrase " can not hear you " ( typical of someone who has a Nexus 5 ) will be only a distant memory for you .
For the following guide takes root permissions and a file manager that allows to get into the system folder (for example Root Explorer can be downloaded from playstore ) .
1) Download the file from here Best Audio Mod Nexus 5 by fosseperme V2.xml and rename mixer_paths.xml
2) Go through root explorer ( or similar) in the system folder sytem / etc and replace the file with the old one ( after making a backup of the original file of course ) . If you root explorer problems in replacing click on the top of Mount R / W ( it displays a Mount R / O) and try again.
3) Set the correct permissions for the mixer_paths.xml file before rebooting as rw-r--r-- (important to avoid bootlop)
4) Restart the phone and try to call someone! You will see the results immediately !
NEW : Flashable Zip from recovery (Many thanks to Drummerjed)
Changelog V2
Increase audio recording (hear most of your audio / video recorded)
Changelog V1
Increase audio speaker, audio headphone and microphone audio input / output (better hear the other party on a call and he will listen to you better)

Thanks but bootloop with Purity Rom
Hi,
You should add to the OP to set the correct permissions for the mixer_paths.xml file before rebooting as rw-r--r--:
No bootloop on Purity with the correct permissions, without the correct permissions you end in a bootloop...

Hi,
Yes, but it seems that the mod here from fosseperme solves/improves the sound for call like he claims (not in the other thread where is nothing about in call sound) even if I never have not noticed any problem with sound in call...
The volume in speaker is the same as the other thread, right.
Otherwise the only thing I noticed is the cause of the bootloop...

Hi,
It's the same file that is modified so no need to revert back to the stock file, with the mod here you replace the previous file... You can even use the flashable zip file from the other thread just replace the mixer_paths.xml inside the zip.

LOL, it's what I've done and it's how I found why there was bootloop (nowhere in your OP it was mentioned to set the correct permissions, then a user reported a bootloop and I realize this) ... then you have updated your OP since my first post here...

How do I disable the camera shutter sound?
I'm rooted, so I already went to /system/media/audio/ui and deleted cam_snap_0.ogg as well as camera_click.ogg. Usually, that does the trick - but not with this phone, it seems.
Do these files exist in multiple locations? Does the camera app have a different file in its own directory?

Well, sure, but there isn't always time, and you won't always remember to take the extra step. I'm looking for a more permanent solution.
I can always use another camera app, but at this point, I'm also curious to know if there's a way to do it for the stock app.
Overwrite the sound files using the attached file (after you unzip it).
As root go into /system/audio/ui, from here you may want to first backup the files on this list, in case you want to restore the ui sounds.
File List:
Code:
af_failure.ogg
af_success.ogg
cam_snap_0.ogg
cam_timer_1sec.ogg
cam_timer_last.ogg
camera_click.ogg
Camera_Timer.ogg
camstart.ogg
camstop.ogg
continuous_shot.ogg
shot_snap.ogg
shutter_mirror_down.ogg
shutter_mirror_up.ogg
wheel_effect.ogg
Overwrite each and every one of those with the attached, unzipped file, make sure their permissions are set to 0644, and it should be totally silenced. (I think all the files might be overkill, but it covers all the bases).,
Good luck
Deleting audio files won't work, they need to be replaced.

Can I replace the files?? I dont have root!
I grabbed all the files and listened to all of them, and for what it's worth, I don't think I heard any files that matched the sound I hear in the app itself. I'm thinking that the default Camera app may provide its own sound internally. If that's true, then the question becomes whether it's accessible as a file, and if so, where is it stored.

No. Root is needed.
this was driving me nuts deleting all the files listed above and still had the camera shutter sounds.
so i followed this and copy the silence.ogg to create all those ogg files. move them to the phone. using rootbrowser, delete those same files from system/media/sound/ui then copy newly created files. close out the camera completely and reopen. this did it for me. thanks guys.
and yes you need root.
just goto my thread under themes and apps. I made a zip of every file you just paste into system and it'll be silent.

I tried the same steps and failed. Didn't stop my camera shutter sound. But it stopped my TOUCH SOUND (play sound when you touch an item on the screen). And my boot animation sound too. In the meantime I found another way with an app called "mute" and running a profile in tasker everytime the camera app opens, it toggles the MUTE app. That works for me.
An app called mutecamera will do this WITHOUT root.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gun0912.mutecamera&hl=en
Tested with H990DS and amazingly it worked. Have to give accessibility permission and there is an element of trust required here.
you get 15 free shots, after that you either pay or watch ads
But finally i find a non-root solution
Another alternative is to use Open camera. Remember to enable camera 2 api functionality and then you will see the option to disable shutter sound. You will of course be using open camera in this case.
But the first option allows to use your main camera. And that is the point. I only tested it with the main camera. I have no idea about other apps like whatsapp or facebook that may use the camera as i don't use those apps.
