I noticed the other day that for some reason I am not getting 4G on this phone other than after a reboot. The moment I connect to wifi or go from a 4g to 3g area, it never goes back to 4g. Is there something I can do to fix this? My galaxy nexus and s4 all have 4g during these times as well.

I live in a 4g area (chicago), yet there are spots where either there is no 4g, or the signal is just bad. When I walk through these areas, my evo does not switch to 3g, instead it gets nothing. Anyone have a similar problem and/or know a fix for this? Another example is when I go to some suburbs that definitely do have 3g, but do not have 4g, I don't get data at all. I am running stock evo right now.
guys updated to epic experience but i am unable to conncet to 4g anywhere. while my brohters evo just works fine connecting :S
any ideas what the reason could be
For what it's worth, both my original Epic and my current one (first one died 3 days into owning it) have crappy 4g reception even when a friend's Evo can get a strong signal.
I think it's something with the Epic's antenna design, but it's not Epic Experience causing it.
hey, i bought a used nexus s 4g, and the condition is excellent.
having a slight issue, the guy i bought it from, had CM7 already loaded on the phone, well im having terrible signal problems.
seems like the phone cannot connect to 3g at all. Its either nothing no data, or if i turn on 4g, it can connect to 4g, but theres never any 3g. as you know, 4g isnt available everywhere and it kills my battery, so i wanna just have it hooked up to 3g but it cant.
i have an sprint arrive, which connects to evdo fine, and my friends evo 4g connects to 3g fine also.
i read nexus s 4g has signal issues, but how bad it is right now is just crazy.
still pretty new and trying to understand this stuff, so bare with me
Be sure to check your radio. Sprint released an update a while back and I believe you can find it in the stickies. Also, dont forget to update you profile and prl.
doooope!! updating PRL did it!!! thanks!!! i was thinking about getting rid of the phone because it became so annoying! life saver, thanks!
Have had the AT&T Galaxy S4 for a few days now and I have noticed that in my area if I go from a 4G area to a 4G LTE area the phone doesn't seem to prefer to connect to the LTE band.
Perfect example being I can sit next to a friend who has a Lumia 920 and he has LTE signal. On my S4, it shows plain 4G.
If I put the phone into Airplane mode and then take it back out, it will show the 4G LTE.
It seems to also do this if I go from a Wireless network the phone will prefer 4G over 4G LTE.
Any thoughts on this?

I noticed this also. It takes a significant amount of time for my phone to switch to LTE. I used to have great LTE signal at my university with S3, but now with S4 I only get 2 bars of regular HSPA 4G.
No problems here but I'm on rogers in Canada

Updated my phone (VZW LG G2) to the latest software patch that went out recently (Dec 20/21?) and now my phone will default to 3G service more often than 4G LTE. My home gets very strong LTE service and I could speedtest up to 20mbps at times on it. After I updated, however, my phone will connect to 3G about 90% of the time. Rarely does it connect to LTE. This isn't just at my home, so I don't think it's a local tower issue as I've had the same problem in town as well.
Has anyone else encountered a problem with LTE connectivity after updating to VS98012B?
edit: If I switch on airplane mode and then turn it off, sometimes it will switch back to LTE.
Flashed modem only here, no problems.
If you are still on pure stock, call Verizon and let them address it for you.
I've been searching for this problem as well. My wife's HTC One is sitting beside my G2 Rick solid on LTE, and mine is stuck on 3g. This only seems to happen in the house, so maybe hers just gets a better signal than the G2. On the rare occasion I do get lte, my speed tests are always much slower than hers. I know it's not an lte problem because out in town with a stronger signal I can get about 40 Mb d/l

Yup, I have the same issue after upgrading to vs98012B. Mine is rooted by the way.

I'm not seeing this problem. In fact, it's the opposite for me. I'm rooted and didn't want to go through the hassle of losing my custom recovery, so I waited until a stock, rooted version of 12B released. I flashed it as well as the corresponding 12B modem zip. I live in a fringe LTE area and it was not uncommon for me to see 3G in my house. Since the upgrade I've only been seeing LTE. I'm very happy with this update.
I've noticed today seems like I'm stuck on 3g
