Hey guys, I have a problem with the bluethoot playback, it stutters for a second randomly. It happens once every 5 or 10 minutes but it's pretty uncomfortable, I go through a creative speaker bombox and my two cars, another Spanish forum there are more people affected, someone else is wrong? The rom is indifferent, I spent with kk and I still happening with llp, thank you very much
Edit: bluetooth, not bluethoot
I have the same issue. I use my phone to play music (on SD card) in my car vua bluetooth and also use bluetooth headphones for same music.
And glad you noticed the bluethoot typo lol
I was having a similar problem with Bluetooth and Poweramp. I started using the Samsung music player and haven't had any problems yet
sent from somewhere
Same here....
Another thread was just created that's related to this problem. People are suggesting things like custom kernels.
Unfortunately for me, my phone doesn't have a Root method yet. So I'd welcome any solutions that don't require root.

I"m having the same problem with my phone. Regardless of which device my phone is sycn'd with, car, blue tooth speakers the sound skips/stops for a second then starts up again.
Samsung support wasn't much help, their resolution was to send the phone in.
I've had horrendous issues with Bluetooth -- getting it paired, placing calls, etc. Haven't seen many places reporting on this, but seems to be 6.0 related. Can we please draw some attention to this and make sure it gets fixed in 6.0.1? If not, I'm probably going to have to return the phone when I'd really rather not

I havent had any issues with bluetooth, on my sonata hooks right up no skips or hickups, on my bluebuds X no issues either. sorry :-x
I have M on this phone and my Nexus 6 and have no issues with my Nissan, Ford or BT head set.
I only have 1 bt device I connect to, my car, and it's worked fine every time. Pairs automatically and quickly, played a lot of audio over bt and made a couple phone calls and all working ok.
I have also had issues with bluetooth. Mainly when connected to my Chevy truck. Sometimes calls will not play through the bluetooth system and I have to pick up the phone and switch to speaker or handset. Very annoying. Has happened about 5 times over the last week. Other times it works perfectly though. No idea what the problem is.

No issues with my vehicle dongle nor the punk bt speaker.
I actually just asked about a different Bluetooth problem I'm having in a different thread. The answers here have me wondering if it's possibly that some phones have defective hardware. Maybe I'll RMA mine and see if I have the same problem.

Yeah, I only really use Bluetooth with my Mazda 3 and I've had no problems pairing it there. Haven't taken any calls on it, but playing music the same as always.
There's some high battery drain related to Bluetooth being on that some folks are reporting, which appears to be more software related to 6.0.

what year Sonata, if you don't mind me asking? Perhaps this is more of an issue with newer or older vehicles?

This is exactly what was happening with my phone -- although I have now unpaired it and deleted the phone from my vehicle, I'm not able to get it re-paired. And it has been doing this for every call, so it's not been intermittent at all.

I would be curious. Trying to figure out how widespread this is, and if it's an RMA issue or a return issue.

2013 sonata se basic radio with Bluetooth
Pioneer 8500bhs, beats over ear wireless, Motorola Keylink, and waterproof portable Bluetooth speaker all work great for my 6p over BT.
The only strange thing I noticed is this, it paired fine, connects fine, shows the music I'm playing on play music fine, but unless I adjust volume down one click off max I get no audio. Lol
Since it seems like some are having issues and some aren't, I'm thinking this may be some sort of problem with different BT radio hardware

I used my UE Boom speakers with it and had no issues. Mind you, my UE Booms are linked together, so the phone was only truly paired to one, but the odd issues with one channel of audio dropping in and out that I have with my Fire Phone was not present with the 6P.
LOL @ Beats...
Works fine for me with generic head unit.
For people that aren't having issues, have you applied the November security update? There appears to be some type of Bluetooth security fix in there, perhaps that is also fixing the connection issues that some of us are experiencing? I'm willing to flash it later tonight and test if there is any evidence it will help

I have a question for you about the Bluetooth headphones you use. If you pause what you are listening to with the button on the headphones and keep the phone in your pocket for 15 minutes, will pressing play on the headphones resume what you were listening to? Mine won't. Many times even after just 3 or 4 minutes.
I'm still trying to figure out if it's hardware or software problem. If it does resume consistently could you let me know what build you are on? Thanks.

Hi there,
i was wondering if anyone experienced same issue happening to me with my Nova Plus. Random garbled/distorted sound only through Bluetooth. This happens only for voice calls through bluetooth, during each conversation random the sound is distorted, recovers and distorts again. it's impossible to keep a normal conversation. streaming music through bluettoth is fine though with the same equipment. i experience this issue so far in my car and with my bluetooth headphones.
I will try to re-pair them again but it's too much of a coincidence that two devices got bad paired. Hopefully that's the only reason. Any other suggestions i could try?
I'm not concerned on my Nova but I was on my old Samsung Galaxy S5 on custom ROM. It was a kernel related issue if I'm not wrong. Hope it will be fixed soon. As for me on my Nova I have an issue with audio like podcast that doesn't play. These Huawei phones are attractive ones but definitely not ready for daily use. Weird
**Update**
So i have an update on this. i've noticed that whenever i receive a call from my headphones or being in the car my phone is on wifi. yeah i know i got my own wifi following me everywhere . anyways, i tried and disconnected the wifi being on my headphones and received a call. no more distorted audio. have to check that in my car as well.
any update on this issue? I just got the Nova Plus. I like it but this bluetooth audio issue is making me unhappy
Is anyone else having problem with the sound cutting out for a split second at least once per song? I am having this problem whether it's Poweramp, Spotify, of playing a music video. It seems worse when using the phone or right now while copying files to the SD card from the computer. Last time i had audio cutting out or glitching on a phone was the POS Motorola Razer HD I had. It was horrible.
anyone else having this problem? it's driving me crazy. The sound cuts out for a split second for every song and sometimes multiple times in one song. it's doing it a bunch for each song at the moment. I rebooted the phone but no change. It's pretty disappointing. I passed up LG for the last few years because of quality control issues and I hoped this time they would have a good phone.

still having problems with the sound cutting out. I counted 5 times on one song and 2 times on the next song. Not to mention all the other songs it does this. I guess I'm going to have to call Verizon tomorrow. I was hoping someone on here had some insight or know of a software update that might fix it. I don't know if a replacement would fix it or if i need to exchange for a different model. Does anyone else have problems or is it working fine with Spotify or Poweramp etc? Oh the next song just started and about 30 seconds in it did it again. ugh!!! It makes my skin crawl it irritates me. And it just did it again as I'm typing. argh!!!!
Same thing happens on my end, using Spotify (Internal storage or SD card do the same thing, tried both). This happens to me streaming via Bluetooth to my Pioneer head unit in my car, every 2-3 songs I will get a 0.5-1second mute and then it resumes playing as normal.

I've had it happen either wired or bluetooth. This is troubling not knowing if it's software or hardware problems and if LG is going to have a fix anytime soon.
Ughhhhhhhhhh I'm having the same issue! It was especially bad when I first set up the phone brand new out of the box. It got to the point that I did a factory reset. Unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem and my audio still cuts out exactly like you said -- for about a second at a time. My songs are also on my SD card but it also happens when I stream from Google Play Music. I'm glad it's not just me, but LG better address this.
getting this as well
I only stream from Google play music. Doesn't matter if I choose high quality or normal, I get fairly regular popping/crackling and occasional glitches. I installed the snapdragon audio+, didn't help.
Haven't heard it cut out, but am hearing some kind of... I don't know..... feedback when it's turned up. Trying to pay more attention to see if I can isolate / identify it.
I've had this issue with every LG. I know a lot of people say that as if they've had LG but just over exaggerating but I really have had every flagship LG since the Optimus G. It never mattered if it was plugged in or Bluetooth. I noticed it more with my car stereo. I always just assumed I had a faulty stereo. Till I had a friend start using their S7 in my car and they didn't have this issue. Took me awhile to realize it wasn't happening on their phone. So that ruled out a faulty stereo. I'm just happy someone else also has the issue and it's not just me.
Anyway, LG will not be fixing this issue anytime soon.

I listen to a lot of music everyday and I haven't had this problem. I listen to music on SD card, Pandora, DoubleTwist Cloud player, wired headphones and bluetooth. I wonder if it's some other app causing it. On bluetooth the music stops playing when i get text or email so maybe another app is somehow cutting the sound or something. I don't know, very strange.

That's a shame that LG won't fix the problem. So what exactly is causing the audio problems with players like Poweramp and Player Pro? I installed the Poweramp V3 alpha and it doesn't have the problem. I tried PlayerPro and it has the problem. Really sucks a high end phone can't play high end audio apps. the verizon guy at the store i went to and exchanged my phone over this issue told me the maybe poweramp runs too fast for the phone. or it's my memory card. but how can poweramp run too fast for the phone it's a high end phone for petes sakes. and the new phone was the same with the issue.
From what I've gathered over the years of researching this issue is that the audio codec that LG uses and has used for most their phones may be the root cause. That an update could fix it but it doesn't seem to be on LGs priority list. This issue is also very hard to find. This is literally the only article that discusses it with as much detail as everyone has provided. Everything else I find ends with a deadend after one post. As if nobody else notices or cares.
There has got to be a place we can let them know and with enough people maybe they will finally do something about it.

It's a shame this topic runs into dead ends. With the popularity of Poweramp and PlayerPro i'm surprised more people aren't complaining and discussing it. unless people are doing mostly streaming. I know very little people that have mp3's these days. I don't know anyone that even knows Poweramp. even the tech support over the phone or the guy in the store never heard of it. and when i had problems in the past with a old motorola razr HD the tech support blamed poweramp saying that the phone must not support it.
I forgot to mention two weeks ago the when playing music with Poweramp the left channel started cutting out off and on for 10 mins then eventually going out altogether till i unplugged the headphones and plugged back in. only did it that one occasion till today. now i'm driving out of town and it's not ideal to keep unplugging the aux cable while driving on the highway. The left channel kept going off again. I tried both PlayerPro and Poweramp. eventually it stopped on it's own. anyone else having this awful problem? I"m not buying LG again. they can't their quality control straight for nothing. so much for giving them a try.
What music players do you guys use for the LG G6 that doesn't have the audio cutting out or skipping that is comparable to Poweramp? I was considering Player Pro but it has the same problem. i tried JetAudio Music Player but the highs sound muffled without one of the audio enhancers you have to pay extra for. I don't like the idea of buying an app and then having to pay extra for other features when other apps have it included for free.

I'm still having this problem with the audio cutting out completely on the left channel from the headphone jack. it only did it on one occasion with my headphones. But it happens almost every time i use it with my car stereo or in someone else's car on his stereo. so i know it isn't my aux cable or my stereo. i never had this problem before. i am disappointed with LG and they're hopeless for giving us an update for all these problems. I can't wait to switch to something else but i have to wait at least a year to be able to trade in my phone for another on Verizon Edge.
Also still having the problems with the audio cutting out for a split second with PlayerPro. with the PowerAmp 3 alpha 704 i got the settings tweaked and i don't notice the problem anymore. But still have the headphone jack/aux cable sound issue. is there any tweak that could possibly fix it? is the DAC getting overloaded causing the left channel to quit working?
No issues at all here. Had no issues with my V10 either for what its worth. Streaming Spotify and Tidal all the time. Sound has not clipped one single time.
Only time I see this issue is when I'm connected to multiple Bluetooth devices and one of them disconnects.
So I purchased some new JBL headphones black Friday. They work perfectly with everything but my Essential phone. Basically the audio cuts in and out less the 12" away. I listen to a lot of music and this is complete BS! Bluetooth in my car is sometimes sketchy and also on my Bose SoundLink Mini.
Do all of you have connection issues? Is it a firmware issue? I'm still on stock 7.1.1 with latest security patch.
P.S. All this happens on my wife's white one as wellwith same everything.
I have the same issue with multiple bluetooth audio devices on mine. Someone suggested turning off Bluetooth scanning in the location portion of the system settings but that did not fix it for me.
I'm on the Oreo beta.
The one thing turning off scanning DID fix for me in terms of Bluetooth issues was the constant disconnects I was seeing to my smart watch. That's stable now.
No issues with BT on my PH-1 with the numerous BT headphones i've used it with.
Currently using a Bose Soundlink OE and no complaints whatsoever.
Tried all Roms, stock and Oreo and BT audio is fine on my end.
After messing with the Bluetooth settings, I removed all devices and rebooted the phone as well. I paired the JBL and sure enough they work fine with no audio dropping. So I'm wondering if something is going on when I first initially pair the devices. I'm not a radio engineer, so I'm only guessing. It seems like it's not getting full handshake with the devices I first pair with. Only after I forget the device, reboot, the pair again will it have a good grip on the device.

I got a red OnePlus 5T and white Essential at the same time and on looks alone used the essential. I've had two black models previous to this. I went to the gym after syncing my BT headphones and the result was music that but out every .5 seconds. Needless to say, I wanted to kill myself. I tried deleting all devices, resyncing, restarting, nada. I immediately went to the OnePlus with no issues. The essential is such a good value proposition especially with regards to build quality but I'm running out of reasons to keep trying it, price aside.

I totally get that. I haven't had the Bluetooth issues any more. Unfortunately now it will randomly freeze up. So, I am actually thinking of selling mine and getting a OnePlus 5t.
Just want to add that i have my essential phone since Dec. Never had any Bluetooth issues.
I've also got the same problem, can't connect to my PC, my pebble does connect but I have to "forget device", rescan and repair it everytime I connect. It's very temperamental with my Bluetooth headset too
with the beta versions of the os under developer options you now see options for different bluetooth codecs including aptx. I believe it is still a grey area if essential has acquired the rights to include the aptx codec but if you are rooted you can sideload the aptx directly. See here for more info on aptx https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2531440
Hope it helps you out.
Personally ive experienced no bluetooth issues using stenheiser hd-1 in ear headphones, bluetooth stereos and car adapters.
I'm having the same issue with my Essential phone and all bluetooth audio playback devices. If the phone is more than a foot away, it gets choppy. I don't have a workaround yet but will try some of the suggestions here.

The Bluetooth connectivity is not that great. I don't quite have the exact problem you describe, but range is pretty poor. For example, my Gear S3 Classic is about 6-7 meters away from me right now and I cannot connect to it via Bluetooth. I have to be closer. My Samsung S8+ (after some post-launch patches of course) could maintain the connection to about 10 meters away. My S7 easily did 15 meter radius. This is all comparison in the same physical space.
my BT stutters about once every 45 seconds or so, also in my 2011 Mazda 3, the names of the songs do not display up on the screen where they had with every other phone i have had paired.
BTW if you are thinking of buying a 2009-13 Mazda3 there is a 5 second BT audio delay while watching Youtube/ videos ... and it gets really annoying

Latency like that is perceptible on almost all phones and receivers... Your car is not special in that way...
Wanna see some really bad latency... Try playing a game on an emulator while using a Chromecast to your TV...
Here is a perfect example of how bad it is. I did a little test with my bluetooth speaker(it's nothing special, just an average bluetooth speaker, a few years old so not the latest bluetooth tech.)
I set the phone on the kitchen counter, connected and playing music on my speaker which is right next to it. I pick up the speaker and hold it to my chest, while I'm leaning against the counter, then turn around so my body is between the phone and speaker, it quits working. I spin back around, it works... As a comparison, i dug the old S6 out of a drawer, and it can play on the speaker with me holding the speaker the same way, spin around, and walk to the other end of my kitchen which is about 16ft and it keeps playing the whole time.
Same issue with bluetooth headphones, which led me to this awful issue. I'm a cyclist, and with the phone in my back pocket of my jersey, the headphones won't work.
Frustrated, today I unlocked and flashed back to the oldest stock software I could find... still doesn't work.
Same issue here. Is there a fix for this?
The only device I get a solid connection with is my Jabra Elite 65t headset (which happens to be BT 5.0 like the phone is). My Samsung gear and both of my cars have horrible connections. I believe there is a memory leak in the bluetooth stack because It'll get worse and worse, then I can clear it up temporarily by turning off bluetooth for about 30 seconds to 1 minute then turning it on again... then it'll tend to last until I reconnect again later.

If you are on 8.1 you can go into developer area and there are settings for BT connection type. You may be able.to get better results by changing from the default which is best effort to one that prioritizes connection quality. There are other settings as well. I haven't played with the settings because I'm not seeing issues.
Fixed mine
Disabled hd audio:aac in bluetooth device settings(for each headphones or device with that issue) and drop outs stopped i had them every 40sec for .5.
I have 4 different Bluetooth devices that all work perfect and all have 10+ meter range. I'm on the AICP rom and no problems at all.
