I'm curious as to what other user's experience is with Google Now, specifically in providing voice answers to questions asked.
For example, I tried the phrase seen on the TV commercial, "What is glossophobia". The response is voice, ie "glossophobia is..." When I tried this, I simply got a search screen of results.
I do receive voice responses for simple questions like "What's the weather? but nothing 'complicated'.
Suggestions, ideas, etc. TX

Funny! I did the exact same thing when I saw that commercial. I got the same result as you and was about to do a Google search on it to find out why it wasn't working the same as the commercial when I ran across this post.
Go to settings, then voice, then click on speak output, and select always. Should solve your problem.
Edit: When on Google Now, of course.

That was one of the first things I tried.... Also wiped data/cache and re-configured with same results.

Thanks for the tip but I've had that setting ticked as you described from the beginning, and yes, in Google Now.

Updated both Now & Search. Placed both widgets on my home screen. Asked the glossophobia question again using both & got voice results on both! Tried an experiment. Removed the Search widget & opened Now & asked the question again....NO voice results.
Huh!?

sorry to bring up this old thread but if anyone knows if there is a clear set of search words to allow google now to talk back it would be helpful. it seems very particular on what you speak into the "ok google" voice search function to get a vpice response. thanks

Dont have that one
Is there any chance this happens because i'm not from the US? im from latin america
if so any way i could get it?
I doubt this will work in Latin America. I saw a pulled apk of this somewhere in the forums.
You could sideload it probably without issue but hen Google would see your IP and likely tell you it isn't supported.
Its no big deal anyway.
Sound hound , shazam, etc... same type.

They've changed name. I remember downloading GoogleEars.apk few months back on here. When I googled it, I got sound search instead. It can't recognize humming or things that you sing to it. Still using SoundHound.
It's there but you need to use Titanium Backup to defrost it - and again after every reboot.
seems that i'll need to buy shazam, thanks anyways

I found Google Ears / Sound Search to be way quicker than Shazam.
Ok so I searched the forums and haven't found anything. For me, voice to text is very very hit or miss. It will show that i'm talking, but not write anything down. It might just miss everything. It might pick up half way through my sentence. Or it might actually work. Any clue what is going on? I am non rooted, no frozen apps, I've done a factory reset. Contemplating just taking it back to ATT though I would be annoyed since I'll lose the screen protector I put on it. I love my S4, just need this to work. I use it while driving all the time with my phone mounted.

When my voice recognition goes to crap on my voice search app, it usually works to open the app in app manager and clear data and clear cache. Hopefully this helps

Are you using Samsung Voice or Google voice... See which one works better for you.
Has nothing to do with the phone, just the software.
I've tried both. Neither works well.
Mine sucks too... Even Siri had better recognition

And that's saying something...
Which do you prefer as your voice assistant? I like Google Now's quick response time and voice accuracy but I like S-Voice's layout better and sometimes witty answers to silly questions, also Google Now can't turn on Bluetooth or turn off Mobile Data, etc. I like both but I'd have to give Google Now the slight edge here.
What about you guys?

Google Now 100%. I can't imagine a situation in which I would want to use S-Voice.

I watched like 2-3 Youtube videos comapring the two and also read some articles and Google Now dominates in like 95% of situations/questions asked... S-Voice does do better sometimes however!
Greetings
To get to to the point tapatalk was not letting me reply or start new threads on any of the forums I was a member to. So naturally I went to tapatalk to get support, however the only interface offered is a support forum through the tapatalk app itself. Well if I can write anything, How am I supposed to get my questions answered (from what I'm reading nobody monitors that forum anyhow) . So I played with the app to make sure I was logged in when I happened on a message that that said my account needed to be "validated", so I clicked on the link in the email and validated my account, but I'm still unable to respond to anything. So I decided to just uninstall and reinstall (with a reboot in between) to see if that fixes anything. Now it won't let me login, telling me that my password and/or username was invalid. Well I clicked on forgot password and Enter my email address and it told me that there was no account available. So I said f*ck it I'll just create a new account, but when I attempted to do that it said my email address already has an account associated with it and to log in using that account.
OK I'm going around in circles here and I realize that this might not be the best place to ask but... Does anyone know a way I can contact the taptalk folks WITHOUT using the tapatalk app? I combed through their Web page looking for an email addy and no joy. Please help if you have any other ideas.
There's an email on the Play Store entry for contacting them. [email protected]

Tapa talk is not even connecting for me today!
I've been having issues with it as well, but also noticed that the XDA app was having issues.. I think there's something going on with the forums itself.
Yeah I have been noticing that when I quote a post it is actually quoting the post 2 or 3 post before the one I actually quoted if that makes since to you guys lol
My Galaxy Note 3 Is A Definite Go!!!!!
I'm not having the misquote problem. But this past week xda has loaded slower and slower. Did they revert back to 56k dial up???

I'm not sure it works for everyone. Can you just go through the language settings and chuck the language which is enabled"Because most of the times it works only with US English.I tried other english versions but it didn't worked for me.

Ok Google!
Just install "OK Google for 3rd party activities" module, only works with Kit Kat, after installing clear Google search data. No battery drain or other issues.
