thanks, I've never flashed a custom kernel or modem before, only full ROMs... I'll do some research - any suggestions on which to use or what to check for?

thanks, got it and tried it, but no change - wifi still won't turn on

Sounds like you possibly have a hardware problem!

I think the best RADIO is the N_01.77.37p

But it is only available in ZIP format, so you have to use de CWM.
I also think you should consider to have a hardware problem...

There is not such thing since it was made the note 3 came with knox out ofe the box so there is no such thing mate
If you need further rom sugestions you got to tell us what do you need from a rom touchwiz cm11?

Which rom you are running ? If you are running any s7 port or note 7 port rom then definitely fingerprint won't work at all.

If its still in a stock rom and you didnt root it, then maybe its a hardware failure.
Take it to the customer service.

TWRP should prompt you to root after it's installed. Yes you can flash ROMs after you install TWRP.

I use CM13 nightlies.
If you're going to use AOSP ROMs make sure you backup your APN settings since you are using a different network than Sprint.
