Yep, that's a thing.
Care to elaborate
Which apk is that? I knew there was a watchdog

I believe what the OP is showing is a place on the phone that records that you have rooted it in the past. The RAZR HD did this as well as other phones. On some you are unable to clear the flag. Moto or your carrier could use it to deny you a warranty replacement.

Every device has something that detects root, the APK here isn't actually what is doing it. It is the qe binary in /xbin

I thought verizon was supposed to be allowing free tethering on 4G phones after the FCC came after them. One thing you can try is bluetooth tethering, not as good as wifi tethering and it may not work on all devices but at least verizon doesn't block it.
The first rooted tether app still works

How does this belong in the hardware hacking forum in any way, shape, or form?
(I would have reported it but the 60 second report throttle got in the way... This forum is full of stuff that should not be here.)
What do you guys recommend?

Read the threads and try some out. Franco, m-kernelk, whatever floats your boat.
Regardless, expect your thread to be locked as soon as the mods catch wind of it.

The security risk that was reported to affect 99% of devices has already been patched in the Google Edition Rom.
The company that found the exploit posted an app to scan for the exploit. When I ran it on my One running the stock google edition rom it showed as patched

Apparently ARHD is as well... So I would go to say that HTC One 4.2.2 is patched already.

Yeah I know...
I think its a scare tactic. Read the article on AC.. its pretty iffy to see TiBu, root explorer and Faux Clock and other apps on the screenshot... considering I have all installed and it didn't show on mine lol

We have loki which allows us to flash recovery, roms, and kerenels. Unlocking, as far as I know, isnt really necessary.
I am new yo android. Can you please explain what a bootloader is and reasons in general to unlocking it?

when will be possible to root our devices? is there anyone working on this issue? I'm ready to donate (i'm sure lot of ppl ready) may be we can support developer?
I have my doubt's anyone is working on root for this device. Right now people should be waiting for the next big exploit that will root many devices.
