Hi folks,
I know this is not the ZU forum, but I've just bought the device - wow, the screen is mind blowing.
Anyway, say on the Sony site that one of the screenshots had the screen with multiple small apps open so thought I'd give it a try and hey presto.
The ZU can have more than 1 small app running at the same time, as well as the app that you're in! How awesome is that! Wonder if they will bring it over the Xperia Tablet Z. I can get more than 6 small apps on at once.

XTZ will get it with the next big update. I'd guess the 4.3 one...

I wouldn't say that, this may be an exclusive for the ZU seeing as how its their flagship. One would think if the XTZ were going to get it it would have been in the 4.2.2 update. The upside is it should be easy to make a mod, or ROM, that gives us this ability.

ZU isn't their flagship, but Z1. But, no, they will give the XTZ most of Z1 stuff. Xperia S got many things that Z had on 4.1.2...

The ZU most definitely was their flagship for a bit, and it could be argued it still is one of their flagships because OEMs usually have 2 at a time, and now that the Z1 is out it is their flagship.
And why would we not get the ZU stuff as well? I don't think we will get it, if we were going to get it it'd have came with 4.2.2, but if we do get Z1 features why wouldn't we get ZU as well?

The flagship isn't the very best device a company has, but the device that has the most efforts put into, and that carries the company for determined time.
I said we will get ZU things eventually. lol

x10 forums looks like starting to die :'(
Of course, the X10 is getting more and more obsolete, even with its decent hardware (better than most midrange ARMv6 phones).
Less and less users. I give the devs credit for sticking with it, even though most have moved to the new Sony phones, they still try to give us something here.
Unfortunately I have to say good bye as well, this was a company phone and I will be starting a new job and given a BB device instead. I want to say thank you to all the devs, Z,J,Binary, Doom, Arch, (even Trip) and anybody else I missed for the great work that made this phone great, even when Sony screwed the pooch on it.

Yes, sgs2 is available at a decent price (around 32 euros a month here in sweden). I tried out my old x10 after a month of sgs2, and its like day and night lol... :/
And some developers popped up lately with copied/stolen roms from eachother... The x10 is a mess nowadays

the most exciting thing to me now is the official cyanogenmod, i couldn't believe that Sony Ericsson itself provided our devs with libs and stuff to work on it. I've unlocked my bootloader and i'm testing it, version fxp030 android 2.3.5 is good for daily use, devs are testing 2.3.7 now.
Things has just started to happen on this phone, it's a shame it took so long

It wil still be open a while so long as someone has an x10 and i still have a year on my contract so ill be sticking around, also i have been teaching myself and learning about every part so that i will soon be able to help keep the forum alive with new roms and tweaks and so on,

Sold my X10 two days ago. I was very angry with the Cyanogenmod delay. Now I'm using c905 and I was quiet happy with it. But then bumped into a guy I sold X10. And I looked at the phone... I was WOW. X10 is a beauty beast! What I meant was, I am a little sad because I sold the phone

Yes, everyone is fixated on huge screens and fail to recognize the flaws of touch screen keyboards. You can only type so fast on a touch screen before you slip up. People wonder how I reply so fast to their texts. I just hold up my phone, slide out the keyboard, and take a bow.

2011 devices are legacy devices now. They are no longer actively supported by FXP. I don't think HDMI will be available for our devices, it's time to move on.

Pity I received my Xperia Arc by Dec 2011 and Sony already dropped the support (no JB on the horizon). Now even the mod community is moving on. Well, at least we had the JB update thanks to the modders :good:

I don't see anything happening about HDMI over that link, its all about audio thing.
The only reason i use stock rom is the camera because i like taking picture randomly everywhere otherwise there is no point using the lame stock roms.

Ahh yes quite irritating! I get around that by using iLoader or FriendCaster to upload to Facebook .

A really common question with today's flagships getting bigger and bigger with every generation. In all honesty i can fit a Galaxy Note 2 in my jeans pocket quite comfortably and i wear skinny fit! Sony have done an amazing job reducing the bevel on the Z as well as making the whole phone super slim, it would fit easily into any pocket, jeans or otherwise.

Also had my SXZ for one week now. I think it's really awesome. Some bugs at Google search, but it got fixed after the last phone update.
The Facebook picture rotation got better by the time. Just need to upload when watching the picture instead of going into face first. But I see when I upload it loses the BE2 effects, any tips on that one?
Batteri lifetime is much better than iPhone tho.
I picked the Xperia Z out instead of S4 because of the water resistance. Rather water resistance than a phone that can see where I see.

Yeah i always find it difficult to find a decent review for any phone, as you say, most of them are from testers, and its not their own phone that they use all day every day.

Good review agree with you on most things but tbh I can't notice any lag. They should improve the speaker though.
And it would be nice if you could change the application drawer in some way.

It might well be that I have quite a few widgets and folders, but seeing that Apex never lags with exactly the same layout, there must be an issue somewhere but as always, every body's experience will differ.

i also enjoy the xperia z quite a bit.
i am a USA user, & the phone does quite well, although without 4g capabilities.
i was previously using a lumia 920. & this phone is much more of a beauty, & elegant than the 920.
i will have to admit that the 920 did take superior photographs in night time situations, eg: night club photographs, out @ night photographs with friends. etc.
i look forward to many more sony flagship handsets.

Use a file explorer to add a .nomedia file into the Whatsapp picture folder and you will no longer see them in the gallery.

According to xperiablog there's no 4k,tap2wake,smart call handling in the build. That's really upsetting. At least they could've given tap2wake...
if they give us all the new features of the z2 then there is no reason to upgrade. i dont expect anything special from the kitkat update

If they did this ppl wont buy the z2. But xda is always here to make the best out of our phones.

It's normal behavior, in fact it makes no sense to wait long for "nothing"... but now as many have said the failure to implement all the features of z2 with an update is linked to the interests of the company ... who would rise from z1 to z2 if you can get the same thing at a lower price?
And this is the main problem of the technology, not only of Sony

even tape2wake can be ported but i think u might need to unlock BL

for me all what matters is that our developers gets the new kernel as hopefully it will increase our device performance !

I am certainly not gonna find excuses for Sony's despicable behaviour. Z1 is only 6 months old, it should be fully supported and get all the new features it can handle. We helped Sony become more relevant in the mobile market and that's how they reward their customers? They really expect us to pay 600$ twice a year if we want a decent update? That's just dishonest! Shame on you Sony!!!
I just want kit kat and its default kit kat features, tap 2 wake and maybe if I'm lucky the abilty to display the homescreen wallpaper on the lockscreen so i can have Muzei LW on both
